Kars For Kids is a non-profit organization found online at Kars4Kids.org which says their mission is to give children the opportunities and support they need to develop into productive members of their community. 

How Does It Work?

In order to provide their youth members with the support and opportunities they need, including educational services, youth mentorship, community and family outreach, summer camps, extracurricular programs, holiday retreats, and more, the Kars 4 Kids organization created a revenue stream that is beneficial to both them and their donors.

According to their website, this organization did not want to solely rely on traditional fundraising and private donations to support their charity.

Instead, they wanted to find a way that their charity could provide a public service and benefit to their donors while still providing them with the money they need to run their organization. 

To do this they focused their energy on car donation. Car owners who own a car they no longer need, or a car that no longer works perfectly, and have the ability to donate their car can do so in exchange for tax deductions and a voucher for a hotel stay during your next vacation. 

In order to participate in their program, all you have to do is fill out an online form or call a representative to discuss donating your car.

Within 24 hours, you will receive a phone call from a driver at a local towing company who will arrange to pick up your car.

Based on the location and condition of your vehicle, your car will be sold at auction, sold for parts, or used by the charity to further its charitable programs.

The whole point of donating your car to Kars4Kids.org is that you will not have to pay fees to take a non-working car off your property or to do the work of selling it, when you can instead allow them to take ownership of it.

Within 2-4 weeks of donating your vehicle, you will receive your tax deductible receipt in the mail. This receipt is necessary to receive your deduction when filing your taxes.

You will also receive a voucher for a 3 day, 2 night hotel stay to a hotel in a location of your choice. The full list of available locations are listed online.  

Refund Policy

Since this company is a charity that is provided a free service to their donators, there really isn’t any need for a Refund Policy.

If people considering donation are concerned about needing to cancel their donation for any reason after they have arranged pick up, they will need to contact Kars 4 Kids as soon as possible to speak to a representative.

Reputation

There are some very vocal people online who are extremely upset with this organization, because they feel that they solicit donations under the guise of a children’s charity without making it clear that they are a Jewish non-profit organization that largely finds program through its sister organization Oorah, which provides Jewish children and their families with opportunities to better reconnect with their heritage and their faith.

To be clear, Kars 4 Kids is very emphatic that they are a children’s charity, and that their proceeds go to support children and communities the way they have always said they would.

In addition, their website does mention that they as a charitable organization, they do have a Jewish background.

But the complaints people are making are not that this charity does not do what they say they will, but rather that they only provide selected details intended to make it seem as though their charity is helping many different types of children and communities, without making it clear that their services are actually strongly associated with the Jewish faith, and the kids and family in Jewish communities.
