Harvest Right Freeze Dryer Reviews

Just finished setting up the large Harvest Right freeze dryer with oil-less vacuum pump.

The Good:

Build quality of both the freeze dryer and the pump is exceptional. The assembly and finish are top quality. The touch screen on the dryer is easy to read and intuitive.

The owner’s manual, overall, is well written and makes getting started easy.

For the most part, the personnel at customer and technical support are proactive, extremely friendly, and able to solve problems quickly.

The Bad:

My freezer unit did not power-on the first time I turned it on. When I took it apart, I found that one of the inner cables had become disconnected during shipping. After re-connecting, the unit powered-on and everything seems to work well.

The drain-tube is poorly designed. It is not secured to the dryer frame, and the plastic tube rubs against the metal exit hole. It is also too short, placing the drain valve much too close to the dryer frame to operate easily.

Though this is not really a “bad” thing, I do have a comment about the owner’s manual. It would be great if it included information on the actual freeze-dry cycle – specifically, an overview of the freeze-dry process (e.g. first freeze, then vacuum on, then re-heat, etc., and with temperature, pressures and time-ranges for the each). It would also be nice to know how much water to expect from each batch. That information would be most helpful for first-time users.

The Ugly:

My home setup is such that I cannot place the pump close to the freeze-dry unit. As a result, the hose included in the purchase is too short. I called Harvest Right to buy a longer hose, but they said they could not make a longer hose for me. I then asked for the hose and connector specs so I could build my own, but they refused, stating that it was “proprietary” information. I found this situation extremely frustrating and their position unreasonable. In the end, I got my system to work, but spent hours getting the spec information that easily could have been provided by Harvest Right.

I’ve had my machine about 6 month and had my first issue. Contacted Harvest Right and customer service was great!!

I have been using my small Harvest Right for about a month now. My husband thought I was crazy for buying it. Now, he gets excited when a new batch is finished! He understands now that we will have delicious food for years to come, and no waste! I thought the freeze drying process would be quicker tho. I can only do so much which has pushed me into considering buying another (large) machine. Oh, and my dog love homemade freeze dried dog food!!

I love this machine. I tell others that with dehydrated foods and canned items you lose alot of nutrition and they are only good for 1-2 years. With the freeze dryer, I loose almost no nutrients and it is good for 25 years! I tell them that a freeze-dried banana has almost a shocking taste - like almost better than eating a fresh banana.

The price tag is shocking at first but well worth the money once you get it and get going.There are a few learning curves if you have never operated one before but Harvest Right customer service was very knowledgeable, patient and helpful and answered all my questions.This unti helps save me money by using leftovers as well as dried fruit and treats.

Had a few problems with vacuum leaks. But resolve them and everything's been good to go since. Had it about a year and a half now. Whoever designed the drain valve needs to go back to engineering school it's not real great but it works

I am thoroughly impressed by this machine!!! I have wanted to purchase for 3 years, and my only regret, is that I didn’t do it sooner!! I would recommend this company to anyone and everyone I know!! I can’t wait to preserve our garden harvest this upcoming season

I had an old program and wanted to up date my freeze dryer. I wanted to get the candy program. I got the new program installed and Mary helped walk me through how to use it and took time to answer all my questions. She was really helpful!

I am loving this machine so far. I was having trouble at first, but I contacted customer service and they were very responsive. They sent me out the latest software update, and the machine has worked perfectly cents. We are really enjoying the freeze dried foods and we intend to experiment a lot going forward.

Its time to get one. Don't wait. You will save money in the long run. The machine is great and very user friendly. Customer Service is very important to me and they never disappoint.

I have had my Harvest right freezer for slightly over a year and love it. I have used it to make a variety of freeze dried foods including: snacks, entrees, desserts, and even fruit along with green vegetables for many types of healthy drinks. I have made over 100 batches of food since and the machine still continues to perform like a champ. In addition, customer service have been always helpful whenever I had a question.

We've had our harvest right for about 10 years and I can truly say it's been one of the best home appliances we've ever purchased. Customer service has always answered my questions and given me great service. One of these should be in every home.

My husband bought me a medium size almost 2 years ago. I absolutely love it. Best investment we ever made. Almost 2 years strong for storing food. I have nit had any issues with the machine besides user error.

Very happy with the quality workmanship of the machine and it’s strong performance!

Harvest Right has excellent customer service! Reached out about glitch that was happening after a power surge. They responded immediately and got us the newest software which fixed the issue.

This appliance is great for: camping/outdoors, saving away extra food from garden/hunting, saving leftovers, emergency preparedness. Wish I’d bought one years ago!

Bought a med stainless steel machine in Aug 2022.

I've had a lot of fun freeze drying treats, leftover meals and fruits and vegetables. If you like to garden, it's a great way to store your produce and a much easier and healthier way as well. I did have vacuum problems with my freeze dryer but Harvest Right made it right and have been helpful. There are great youtube channels out there on freeze drying so if you are on the fence about getting one, check out those channels and learn from others. I've gotten a lot of great tips from them and it's made freeze drying fun and tasty!

I have had my machine 3 months. It is down for the second time since I purchased it. The screen starts flashing. It will not work. Then they can’t help u for days. Then it takes weeks for another screen to come. Then it’s extremely ditto replace yourself. Very unhappy with this machine and the company

Very pleased with my medium size harvest right freeze dryer. Purchased in October it pretty much has not stopped running since the moment it arrived. Had a couple hiccups but once we contacted customer service, they went above and beyond to help us fix the problem.

We bought our Harvest Right last May and received in perfect condition sooner than we expected. We did have an issue in January after using it pretty much non-stop. After trouble shooting it on their website we contacted customer support. Within 5 days we had a new relay board (covered under warranty) along with instructions and video to replace it. We are up and running again and can't thank Jenn enough for her help and great follow up!

I am new to freeze drying. I took the leap after lots of research on what to buy. I found Harvestright to be the best.

Their customer service is top notch. As you would guess being new to it, I had lots of questions. They are easy to get in touch with and never make me feel like I have dumb questions. The Technical support is also great! They make everything seem so simple.
