Convenient Counseling
Good Help is Hard to Find...But Not on BetterHelp
I have been using BetterHelp for about 3 weeks. I can't believe what a good match I got on the first try. I have been trying to find a good counselor that takes my insurance and I keep getting duds. My copay is $15, and that is quite affordable, but I didn't feel like I was getting any help. The therapists I keep getting are really bad and cause me more panic and anxiety than I'm already feeling. But one try here with BetterHelp and my doctor has been so extremely helpful so far, I can't imagine losing that life line. She gets what I'm saying and is able to find patterns and solutions I can't see myself. I can write to her at anytime I need which helps cause I have no childcare to be able to leave for an appointment. I write to her in the middle of the night when my head is "going" and it helps me sleep and talking to someone when the situation or incident it fresh really helps sort it out. I highly recommend this program!
Really helpful
I do a lot better writing than I do face to face. Rushing from work to an appointment trying to shift gears so quickly I miss a lot of the core issues I need to deal with.
So this system works really great as I can take my time writing.
I've had no problem with getting very prompt replies from my counselor. She had some good suggestions right from the start.
I think the rate is very reasonable. One hour face to face is a month on this site. If I get 4 good emails (which I don't think is going to be a problem) it's worth it. And it's just a bonus that if I end up crying no one else has to see it.
I haven't joined any of the groupinars they have available. There are some the do sound interesting my schedule just hasn't lined up with one yet.
Wonderful Better Help! If you're willing to do the work.
Hello World,
Let's just say my name is JS, and I am an adopted child from when they didn't have open adoptions. I was lucky enough to be adopted but throughout my entire life there has always been, shall we say "unresolved issues". I found this site through Pinterest and thought I'd give it a shot. I want to get married and do all the "normal" things that come with life, marriage, babies, etc. However, I have never thought it was fair for my future husband to be subjected to all of my resolved issues. So I thought I would give this site a go.
I entered in my information and was matched with wonderful Dr. Davis almost within the hour. She was amazing, we talked and never once did I feel like I was being judged or was being too revealing too quickly I literally unloaded. Her information and help was so reassuring, I thought I am not alone someone can help me.
But then it happened, life all at once and I have realized that I can't handle opening this can of "worms", or at least right now. I soured the entire site for two days and couldn't figure out how to cancel my subscription. I emailed the lovely people at BetterHelp and someone got back to me fast. However, after a week of correspondence finally wonderful, chocolate covered Kevin helped me out and was able to just cancel my subscription with no muss no fuss. He didn't know but I have been having an awful week so this was just the simplest thing to turn my week right around. I am extremely grateful, I plan on using this site when my life calms down and I can think straight again but until then if you're in need and you want to know if it helps, well it does and it will.
Best Endeavours, and thank you so much Kevin.

Convenient, Easy, and Effective
Personalized Care
Yeah, if you can even get past the questionnaire...I answered it honestly the first couple of times and got rejected. I tried it again saying basically I am a complete mess and suicidal and they still rejected me. How much more depressed do I have to be to qualify?
Incredibly helpful, great value, wonderful people
I live in a small, rural town in the middle of the Canadian Prairies, and mental health help here is almost non-existent. After a very recent nightmare with the mental health "professionals" up here, my friend told me about BetterHelp and urged me to give it a try. I joined up, filled out their forms and was matched with an amazing counselor who answers me on days, evenings, weekends and has helped me by leaps and bounds since we started to talk. I can go back and review what she's said, and there are monthly free phone calls you can have with your counselor if need be.
There are also incredibly helpful live webinars with great advice for anyone who is going through difficulties in their lives, lead by experienced therapists who take time to answer any questions you might have afterwards.
BetterHelp is a lifesaver for anyone who cannot get to traditional face to face therapy, and for a very reasonable price.

It fits :)
I'm happy with the services
Wonderful Resource
Really Helpful and Convenient
I suffer from anxiety and have a hard time organizing my thoughts, and really just needed someone to talk to so that I could start helping myself. BetterHelp has been really great and convenient to me. It's cheaper than my insurance copay, and it's so much easier for me to just engage in a session from where ever I am. They matched me with a counselor that is both a woman and a person from the LGBTQ community, which is exactly what I requested. She responded within 2 days of the 7-day trial, and she always responds in a specific and helpful manner, nothing ever generic.
I feel bad for the others that had bad experiences, but I can only say good things about BetterHelp.
Accessible help!!
My therapist has been great! He's very attentive, he checks in a lot which is nice. He's been very helpful in giving me advice and helping me handle the stress of my current situation.
This is a VERY convenient and extremely accessible way to get help!! My therapist is almost ALWAYS there when I need him and I don't have to take time off work.
As a person with MS which has caused me memory issues, this is so much easier than traditional therapy in which you get an hour a week. In times of complete emotional turmoil, I found it very difficult to remember everything or find the time to talk about everything. This is GENIUS!!!!
Wonderful!!
Confused
I felt exactly the same way!
Helpful
I read some of the other reviews and just want to remind everyone that when you sign up for a free trial, you should be very diligent about when you cancel to avoid any charges. I learned the hard way on another site. Also, you should explore the site when you sign up to understand the payment options and how it all works. BetterHelp issued me a refund for unused weeks without any hassle the same day that I emailed them about my circumstances.
Dr. Nelsom
Just what I needed!
Wonderful service!!! I was a bit concerned during the free trial. It needs to be longer. I had to switch counselors before I found one that I clicked with so I only had a couple of days left to get to know her to make sure. It should also start over if you have to change counselors. That being said that is absolutely my only complaint at all.
I live on disability payments as my only income so even the $40 per week is a big deal to me so I applied for and was given financial aid. That was a great burden off of me and my family. I have not been able to seek traditional counseling because of the price of the co-pays which would be $40 per week. By them cutting them in half it made it where I could afford to get the help I had not been able to get.
The online setup is ideal for me as well. I am semi homebound so this is perfect. I have done traditional counseling but if I was having a bad pain day I would have to cancel and when you only see them once a week there goes any chance to talk. With this I can always grab my laptop and write whenever and as often as I want.
I did change counselors once but there was no problem and I was matched to another one within 24 hours. The second time I got Angela Underwood and we have been working together for a couple of weeks. We have done more progress in those weeks than some counselors in traditional settings have in months or even years of working with me. Because this can be very intense if you want it to be you can work through issues very quickly and efficiently. YOU pick the pace.
For those of you who are having trouble with the site before you give up on it I would say this. If you have a counselor who is not responding as often as you would like (within reason) or is not giving you the type of therapy that fits your needs - ask to change. This company will work with you. I am a MSW myself and I know you have to advocate for the type of help you need. No therapist is a one size fits all. And any therapist worth anything will not take it personally if you change so don't worry about hurting their feelings. This is YOUR time to take care of YOU. Get the counselor that works well for what you need.
The flip side of that is like any therapy, you only get what you put into it. You still have to work your butt off. Make sure you are opening up and trusting. It is hard whether it is online or face to face but it never works if you don't. But like a marriage, therapy is hard work.
I hope everyone can have as great an experience as I have.
