MUAMA Ryoko Portable WIFI Reviews

Muama Ryoko Review: Legit or Scam?
The Muama Ryoko is a wireless 4g router claimed to provide a solution for portable internet connectivity.
The Ryoko allows you to connect all of your devices using a secured network connection.
Below we’ll go over how the Ryoko Portable WIFI works, the company behind the product, and what customer reviews say.
How Does Muama Ryoko Work?
The company states the Ryoko Portable WIFI has an operating battery life of 8hrs and fast speeds of up to 150mb/s.
Your first order contains a prepaid global data sim card with 500mb of data download available.
The Ryoko is meant to be easy to use and set up. To start you will have to insert the SIM card into the Ryoko then turn it on.
You then have two options for connecting your devices to the Ryoko.
Either pairing with a WPS and scanning the QR code or connecting to the now visible network and using the pre-provided key.
Moving forward you can load your SIM with more data through their network partner Viaota. You will have to go https://my.viaota.com/register to register your SIM card and create an account.
Once that is done you should be able to select which monthly data plan you wish to move forward with.
Alternatively, you can use the Ryoko with your preferred network provider if you already have a registered SIM card.
Viaota claims to provide stable 4G/LTE internet connectivity on the global level, but you may want to see what options are available through your current network or research local options which may offer better value.
RyokoRouter.com also states that they have partnerships with 350 networks across 125+ countries.
The benefit of this is that you can use one service for all your needs instead of having a variety of contracts.
Customer Reviews & Complaints
The Muama Ryoko Portable WIFI has mixed customer reviews.
While there are plenty of reviews from users stating that the product works as advertised, we are also found many customer complaints.
Some users found that after receiving the product, it did not work in their area.
They then faced the daunting task of returning the unit to a foreign country, which resulted in high return shipping costs of almost as much as the device itself.
Other customers complained about connectivity issues and dealing with poor customer support from both Viaota and MUAMA.
It does appear the customer service reps for Ryoko are active on online review and complaint websites, and attempt to resolve issues that have led to negative customer reviews.
There is also a listing on Amazon for the Muama Ryoko, which currently has a 3/5 star rating, where customers also complained about the device having a poor battery life and often not working properly.

Cost & Price Plans
The price for one Ryoko Portable WIFI is $89. The website offers discounts if you buy more than one unit.
Viaota! provides monthly data plans for the Muama Ryoko, which range in cost depending on how much data you order.
- 3gb monthly plan - $14.99
- 5gb monthly plan - $22.99
- 10gb monthly plan - $39.00
Refund Policy
The company states they have a 30-day refund policy. However, you have to follow the instructions carefully and be aware of the restrictions.
In order to send your order back you have to obtain an RMA number and the return address.
You then have to ship the package back in the original package at your own expense.
Finally, be aware that the company will charge a 15% restocking fee on returns and that their return address will be to the country of Lithuania where they are headquartered, which will require international shipping.
Competitors and Alternatives
Your best options will ultimately depend on where you plan to be using a portable Wi-Fi router. You may want to consider some of the highly rated options below.
Simo Solis Lite
The Solis provides 4g/LTE speeds and works with the Solis network to provide coverage in 130 countries.
It is an "Amazon's Choice" product and has a higher user rating than Ryoko on Amazon at 4.3/5 stars from over 1,000 customer reviews.
Check Simo Solis price on Amazon
If you do not need an actual router there are more options available for just buying SIM cards that work abroad, such as those provided by Google FI.
You will then have to use your devices to create a local hotspot network.
Is The MUAMA Ryoko Worth It?
With more and more people able to work remotely the need for a portable stable internet connection has never been greater.
However, we are hesitant to recommend this product for several reasons.
First off, there are enough negative reviews for the Ryoko to make us doubt its effectiveness and reliability for use abroad.
The other reason is that MUAMA is a foreign based company that intentionally makes returns difficult and costly.
The company also sells other technology products such as the MUAMA Enence Translator, which also does not have the best customer reviews.
There are a lot of options for getting connectivity while you're traveling and you should research what’s available in your intended destination.
If you have any experience with the MUAMA Ryoko Portable WIFI, please leave your reviews below.

Don't make these people rich
I opened and turned on my Ryoko device and the screen referred me to customer service. I can tell that there is no sim card installed as I was told there would be.
Extremely difficult to stop service and those reoccurring charges
Will not Respond to Emails.
COMPLETE SHAM!
DO NOT BUY THIS !
Unit did not work and when I called to return it they said it could not be returned because it was opened.
How would you know whether it works or not without charging and turning it on?
COMPLETE SCAM!
What a waste
DO NOT BUY
This was a gift and is unusable.
Found out it has to be returned to Germany at a cost equal to the purchase price
Product shipped from Cheektowaga NY
Will fight this with my credit card company.
This is a scam
Sorry for your experience .
Same with all the other people posting reviews here.
Those of you living in USA,you do have other means to get your money back.
If you purchased this product using your debit card , or even your credit card, don't forget these cards come with fraud protection .
It's a simple process, just contact your financial institution and give them all the details of your purchase.
They will ask questions to make sure you made a valid effort to remedy the problems with your purchase.
They will even contact the company on your behalf .
If the company is not operating a valid business and are stealing from people, the bank will refund the money back to you.
This takes approximately 1 month.
It's easy and legit.
Hope is not lost .
Don't allow companies like this to keep your money, because that just allows them to continue to steal from the next person.
Good luck to you .

Impossible returns
Their return policy requires that the item be unopened. How would you know that :
(b) You have received a product that is defective or otherwise bad; unless you had opened the item?
(d) You have changed your mind and want to return a product. In our case, we didn’t change our mind and want to return the product until we read the instructions, which were INSIDE THE PACKAGE, requiring the package be opened.
So their policies contradict each other—or make it ever so convenient to reject returns.
Susan Andrist, a very unhappy customer
Agree with you. I haven't even opened my package and they don't tell me how to return the Ryoko
****This product does not work as intended is a SCAM****
****DO NOT BUY!!
DON'T BUY!!!!!
I was scammed as well. I signed up for one device and one month of service to just try it. I’m a senior and I may have hit the wrong button but I was charged over 200 dollars when I hit checkout. Repeated attempts to contact ryoko have been to no avail
They signed me up for 6 MO’s service too, without my authorization. They also made it an auto pay for every 6 MO’s. Total scam. Fighting to get my $400 back. Company told bank that I agreed to the terms, on the very fine terms
Many products are being sold with “terms of service’ at the time you submit your card. These terms are not shown on the credit card page but another page after you click the small terms of service url.I consider this a fraud and your should be able to get your money back. But hiring a lawyer will cost a lot. And most companies are in a foreign country which makes it more expensive. And they are protected by their countries laws,Beware of the terms of service.
Not worth it
Not worth it no returns , scam
Don’t trust them!
I am having a similar experience with two (2) Ryoko wifi routers that I purchased for $138.00. I opened one which has NOT worked, although it was shipped from Atlanta, Georgia, USA and I am in Florida, USA. The company's customer service is NOT helpful, and the product is notably poor. I am waiting for the RMA since 11/26/2024. Today is 12/10/2024. Since the product was shipped from Atlanta, GA, I am curious to see to which address it will be sent. I am soo disappointed in a product that has so much hype. However, I did not do my homework before I made the purchase.
EXACTLY what I experienced! Once I rec'd the RMA, that is when I realized that I would end up in the hole if I were to return it. WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!
The Worst Service EVER – No WiFi, No Support, Just a Complete Scam!
I can’t even begin to express how horrendous RYOKO WiFi has been. I signed up with high hopes, and all I got was complete and utter disappointment. There is literally no service. I’ve been without WiFi for DAYS, and not a single person at RYOKO seems to care. I’ve tried everything—resetting the router, calling customer service, checking for outages—and nothing has been resolved. It’s like they took my money and disappeared into thin air.
Customer support? Nonexistent. I’ve called and emailed multiple times, but they NEVER get back to you. When they do pick up, they’re clueless and offer absolutely no real solutions. I’m convinced the company is just a scam to steal your money. There is NO connection, NO help, and NO service. They’re taking people’s money and offering nothing in return.
This isn’t just a bad WiFi service – it’s a complete waste of time and money. I’ve had more success connecting to WiFi using a tin can and string. The router is just a plastic paperweight at this point, and I’m furious I’ve been stuck paying for a service that doesn’t even exist.
Do yourself a favor and stay FAR away from RYOKO. If you want to experience the agony of paying for nothing, then by all means, go ahead. But if you actually want a working WiFi connection, do NOT waste your time with these people.
ZERO stars – Complete rip-off.
Well said! That is my experience with them!
I am very sorry for you. I am glad that you are warning people against this kind of garbage.
Report them to FTC. Reportfraud.ftc.com

Customer service
I had the absolute worst experience with my order. Immediately after placing my order I received an email that indicated a double charge on my order. I called to cancel it but was told that the order was already processed and too late to cancel. I would have to wait until I received my device which took a full two weeks to receive. I called CS and was told that I would have to pay to ship it back to Germany, and even though I should have been allowed to cancel before it was shipped, it was their error, but I would still be responsible for shipping it back. I also took my hours to finally even get through to their CS number in Germany.
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE
This is a scam
One of the biggest rip-offs I have ever seen. I ordered 1 charged with 2. Told them I only wanted 1 A few minutes later, was told the order was already in progress and couldn't be changed. One of them worked for about an hour and quit. Contacted them and could not get a replacement or refund. Charged for additional data on the other. They set it up as an automatic payment. Asked them several times to cancel the account. Still charging me every month.
Am filing a complaint with the FTC. Hoping they will shut them down and make them repay all the money they have scammed from the people.
Also contact your bank and if you have to open another account.
SCAM
Nothing advertised about this was true for me.
one of the worst pieces of tech garbage I've ever purchased
Scam-SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!
The video advertisement itself sounded like a scam; you know, the tired story line about young brilliant employees of a similar product rebelling because customers were being ripped off and starting their own company with their marvelous alternative product. Buyer beware!!!
I should also have mentioned that these Rip-off companies often operate by selling you 2 items (even though only 1 requested) and when you try and cancel one, they state that it’s in the system and can’t be cancelled. When you attempt to return 1 or both items because of inadequate performance they offer a 50% discount which, in my case with another scammer, J declined. After much hassle, I raised the matter with PayPal who immediately refunded the payments and told me not to bother to return the items. Moral to this, in the event that you hadn’t checked out the company’s reviews, is to insist on paying via PayPal!
I wish PayPal would have sided with me. They didn't!
