You need to pay monthly to access wifi

I bought based on the fact wifi was available anywhere with the device. In reality you need to pay a monthly subscription.

Ryoko call me everyday to activate and does not want me to return the device.

I normally don’t look for reviews, but for some reason I did. I can’t believe how bad this product is, thankfully I listened to you guys with the reviews and did not buy it.

I’m sorry for your loss of money, but thankfully you have saved me my money. I wish it was someway for us to put a BIG “SCAM” banner every time somebody went to their site. Again, thanks for you review.

It didn't work "out of the box". I had to link to it with my PC and make changes to get it going.

I purchased an UNLIMITED DATA plan at $89.99 per month. They shut me off for using too much data and when I called them they cited their "Fair Use" policy:

"the uploading or downloading of unreasonably high volumes of data, which is not in line with the normal consumption habits of an average consumer and is not similar to the rational use of Services for personal needs;"

Who determines what that value is? I can tell you that I only used it for streaming TV. That is something that millions of us do with there internet providers. This is why I chose UNLIMITED. I will also add that I was shut down within a week of using it so what they consider is not rational use must be a low number. And, there is no way to know how much data I was using. Not on the device or in my account information. The device simply says I have Infinite Data.

This is fraud and false advertising.

Mine worked for a month, then suddenly there are connectivity issues where it had worked fine before. Ryoko tech support wants me to repeatedly perform the same "resolutions" over and over again which clearly aren't working. I 'm seeing good reviews on Solis Lite Wifi hotspot as an alternative.

I received the product, the WiFi hotspot.

I opened it and turned it on and it doesn’t work. Ryoko advertises a 30 day money back guarantee, but only if you don’t take it out of the box and turn it on.

The worst of the worst product scam.

I spent good money for a useless piece of electronics with a useless guarantee.

I wish I could give a negative 5 star review. The product never worked for me and when I reached out to them to express my poor experience with it, they refused to honor their own return / warranty policy, which states " product must be in it's original packaging"

Well it is, and still has the screen protection strips on it. I only (and unsuccessfully) tried to connect it once and it failed miserably. I complained to them twice before the 30 day return window, and got nowhere. They said the since I opened the package and attempted to use it, they could not accept it back.

Well, how could a consumer even know if the product is defective without opening the package and attempting to use it? Ridiculous to say the least. I wish I had done some homework before I made this regrettable purchase.

Now I am stuck with this piece of crap. Buyer beware! Steer clear of this shady scam company!!

product: sucks. Bad connectivity. constant crash and loss of your work.

support: well below average, could not care less

warranty / customer service: Bad / way below average, disappointing. They do not care and do not want to help you.

warranty policy: deceiving, does not deliver. WATCH OUT!

The last time they contacted me they asked for a video so that they could understand what the problem was, so I sent them a video of the non functional device. I told them it needed to be replaced, they gave me a ticket number.........totally dishonest scammers.

The customer service is terrible. They do respond quickly, but just give a runaround. I purchased the Ryoko device on November 8, 2024 and a six month plan. I have contacted them numerous times about an upgrade they require to be complete not working. They have only given me information that I already had. Today I attempted to perform the upgrade and the device would not connect to the network. I looked at my account and there is no active plan. The current plan was to renew on May 8, 2025.

I ordered this device and it did not work upon arrival. After all of an hour on hold and over an hour on the phone with the tech, they got it to work. 2 days later it wasn't working again.

Another hour on hold to speak to the tech and they had explained they had shut me off due to their fair use policy. aka over usage. They advertised as unlimited. They would not let me a return equipment or refund my money. They sure were not what I was looking for.

I bought the device plus accessories, i had it only for 2 months and they send me the new sim card and asking me to upgrade the firmware and it last only for one week and it quit working, I have contacted for support, and I got run around

It is a scam! they claim to be suitable for home internet with streaming videos. If you use it to watch Youtube TV, they shut you down inside of two days for "excessive data usage." Customer service is a joke, they will not give you the amount of data that triggers this shut down on their "unlimited" service... but it is slowed down each time to the point where it just says "waiting for network" until your next billing cycle begins.

The Ryoko device does not work.The device turns on, it just will not connect to any service. The Viaota simm card does work in my chromebook go.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. Ads are inaccurate, device does not work, support is non-existent. Bought this in October 2024, tried it during a power outage and got nothing. Didn't work. But the data it came with declined precipitously. (Nothing in the ad says you have to buy data!) Started trying to return devices (yes, I bought 2) in October. It is now February 2025 and STILL have not received instructions on how to return them.

DO NOT BUY. Definitely a SCAM!!!

TERRIBLE COMPANY!! We had the same experience as many others here. My husband ordered the intnl hot spot & 2 docking stations, not fully understanding what they were — due to his health we can’t travel. I tried to cancel the order the next day & they said it had already shipped. We said we would be returning it. (No mention that we would have to send to Germany. It came from CA.) 2 weeks later it arrived. I got the necessary RMA and sent it back to Frankfurt. For $30 that we paid. I kept emailing them. and they’d do an auto respond “so sorry we’ll get back to you”, I also tried calling. Impossible! I could see from the tracking # that it was sitting in PO in Frankfurt for about 2 months. At one point I received an email from them that said they’d be refunding the price of both items — about $150 total. I waited a week and then they went back to the auto response. Tried to talk to PayPal about this on several occasions but they sided with Ryoko. Also called Aviota because in the end it was more than 2 months from purchase. Very DISHONEST company. I also fault PayPal and closed our account. Since they do business with so many disreputable companies.

I opened and turned on my Ryoko device and the screen referred me to customer service. I can tell that there is no sim card installed as I was told there would be.

I needed a hotspot for personal work at my vacation RV resort due to poor WiFi. The unit provided wifi access that was pretty slow, but it worked. when I wanted to stop monthly service at the end of summer, I could not figure out how to do it and sent a email to state that I wanted to terminate service. several replies tried to get me to continue with reduced monthly service charges. I told them that I no Longer needed the service and they finally cancelled me after taking an additional monthly service charge. I followed up several times but for two months they just gave excuses that they were Too Busy. I finally had to place a dispute with my credit card company. still waiting. SCAM! Do not do business with them.

Will not Respond to Emails.

I tried to cancel a few hours after I ordered and told it was already being processed. I have sent 5 emails but the only response is a form letter saying they are too busy to answer right away. Latest letter said I couldn't return it because the package has been opened. It has not been opened. I'm still not get a satisfactory response. I have contacted my credit card company.

Like many others here, I bought this for travel but it was a total waste of money. Never worked properly, The return policy is stupid and I just wrote it off as a bad experience not to be repeated.
