Freezing Issue

Our L Freeze Dryer stopped freezing. I believe the Condenser gave up the Ghost. Harvest Right did replace our Freeze Dryer {Good Thing}. They do need to work on their PR on Customers issues and keep them better informed. We are using our New Freeze Dryer Daily.

We recently bought a shed for our freeze dryer. It took longer than expected to get utilities installed. During this time my freeze dryer was idle. When I started the freeze dryer for the first time in the new location, I needed to enter a code. I called Harvest Right on the weekend not really expecting an answer. Tech support answered promptly and stayed on the phone with me until correct operation was confirmed. I am extremely happy with our freeze dryer. My only regret is that we did not buy it sooner. Great product and great support.

Had to send unit back / warranty repair

Had to send unit back for repair and the freeze drier was restored to original functionality. Took awhile to get the repair approved but Harvest Right covered shipping costs and made packaging, pick up and return easy. Madysen is a peach! She made the process palatable. The company did run me through a rigorous troubleshooting process before setting up return/repair which is understandable as there are not a bunch of freeze drier repair folks around the country. When I got the unit back I got to freeze drying summer fruit and the unit performed fantastically!. Although it was not fun to do a return it was worth it. Harvest Right is a good company to do business with.

The Harvest Right personnel were great to help me get my HR Freezer Dryer working again at its best possible performance level. Itzia Florez was GREAT with her help, knowledge and care. She called after delivery of replacement parts to make sure EVERYTHING was what was needed or if something else was also needed. My machine is again working like new. They (especially Itzia) were great and their equipment is TOP NOTCH.

I just finished my 17th batch/run with my new Harvest Right Freeze Dryer; and it is working perfectly. I have had no problems; and really enjoy the fruits and vegetables as snacks, as well as having Freeze Dried chopped onions and peppers on hand to use in seconds. I am looking forward to freeze drying much more from my garden. Knowing that they will keep so much longer than the 9 months to a year that freezer storage offers, and without frost or freezer burn, is really great.

Have run a couple loads through my medium sized freeze dryer this week. What a great investment! I have been buying freeze dried veggies and meats in bulk to use during our hiking trips for over 10 years. The problem was things were sometimes out of stock or we wanted something that just wasn't available on the market. Now we can make any vegetable or even better, spice up our meat before drying.

Most importantly I want to say that the customer service at Harvest Right is top notch! I had some specific questions and called them today. Deserae answered my call. She was chipper, knowledgeable, helpful and took care of all of my questions. It was really nice that the support team is here in America, making being understood and understanding her no issue at all.

I would recommend these home freeze driers to anyone who has a real need to preserve food this way. The super customer service I received today lets me know, if I ever have any questions or issues with my dryer they will be taken care of quickly.

Nice machine but needs a fuse

I have been using my harvest right freeze dryer for about a year now. I’ve been able to freeze dry meat, vegetables, candy, and fruit. It has worked really well for these items. My only issue is that because of a short that I believe I caused, by not plugging the rack in all the way, the touchscreen failed and now needs to be replaced. It would have been nice to have a fuse or breaker to protect this component.

First off, let me start by saying that I LOVE my freeze dryer and could kick myself for not getting one sooner. Recently, I had a problem upon cleaning the demister (after I overfilled my oil) and realized that the inside filter appears to have been incorrectly threaded and was impossible to get out. I called, they responded immediately, I had to send a video of the issue and then just like that, they sent me a replacement demister. This has been the best service I have ever received! Highly recommend this unit and this company!

We bought a medium HR a few months ago. Have been freeze drying batches ever since and loving the outcome! Recently, we had an issue with the screen being stuck in start up mode loop. Tech support has been very helpful, attentive, and responsive. After trying installing new software and that not fixing the problem, they sent us a new part which was easy to replace/install. They thoroughly walked us through everything. We love the machine and love freeze dried food!

I have done just over 30 batches in my machine when it works it’s excellent but now that my warranty is up my machine is having problems sensing heat so far the service department for harvest Wright has been very friendly and helpful, but I will need new parts or a technician. The good thing is once you have done a couple batches. It gets easier less intimidating. The bad part is for something so expensive you only get a one year warranty. I will keep with it because I do love the results I’m getting from freeze drying my own food for camping or later purposes. I do not like using the mylar bags for you cannot see how your product is looking/doing I do like my food saver bags and then I just store in a tote out of direct sunlight or use glass jars I just remove the oxygen manually for a long time storage so far I’ve done meat lots of different kinds of fruit and vegetables, which makes it a lot easier to turn into smoothies later it’s nice not to have to worry about freezer burn from story too many things in your freezer. So at this point I am invested and I like the process so I will stick with it and hope that once the problem gets fixed it’ll be a very long time before I have another problem.

HR and Maria ROCK!!

My machine was fairly new when I got an "unable to achieve vacuum" type error message. I immediately contacted Harvest Right and they assigned me a technician named Maria. Maria was AMAZING. She was extremely responsive and she patiently walked me thru the entire process of testing various things that could be causing the error message until we isolated the problem as a leak going into the vacuum chamber. She sent me very detailed videos on how to fix the leak, and even reimbursed me for my costs of things needed to fix the problem. I LOVE my Harvest Right Freeze dryer and Maria was awesome.

Again, thank you so much HR and Maria. You guys ROCK!!

Saddens me to write this review because I had really high hopes for this freeze dryer. The first issue started right away with the bread test. It took 36 hours for the bread test before I decided to cancel the run and turn the machine off as there was no end in sight. I called harvest right and felt like I didn’t get much support with figuring out the issue. I was told the dryer wasn’t updated to the newest firmware which was very upsetting.

I paid a lot of $, why would I be sent a freeze dryer that didn’t have the latest firmware? I was told I needed to go buy a flash drive, download the firmware and then plug it up to the freeze dryer and it would update automatically. Well it did not. I called again and they didn’t have a technician available to help me for the next 5 days!!! That was very upsetting.

I decided to try a run of fruit while I waited for the five days for someone to help me update my freeze dryer. The fruit took about 28 hours to complete the cycle. When finished, the fruit looked horrible. It had exploded inside the freeze dryer. It left a mess behind. I had blueberries, plums, strawberries and grapes on the trays. The grapes came out very sticky and pruny like they were turning into raisins, they did not maintain their shape nor did the plums, the plums completely burst open and are now unusable so I’ve wasted my money on most of the fruit bought. The blueberries also burst open.

The only thing that did well were the strawberries. I’m very very disappointed, for such a high amount of cost I feel like I haven’t gotten much support in using the dryer and I’m not impressed with either of the first two runs. If I don’t get any real help and see better results I will be returning my freeze dryer unfortunately.

Technically challenging

I love what the machine does, but sometimes it's hard to get to work correctly. I had to connect it up 4 times to get a proper seal. After using it a few times and unplugging it, the information reverted to 'factory reset' and I had to call C.S. to find out how to get it to work again. I think that it has become too tecnical. In spite of it all, I love the results--I just wish it weren't so technically challenging.

Bought this on 7/11/23 . Had software issue as new model, but HR corrected the problem without a week … and I was able to use it until I got the update . So glad that I got this - getting harder to can in the heat of the summer and I was running out of room for storage - the bags for freeze drying make it light and easy to store- and carry when we go camping … currently running as I type - FD chicken cordon bleu casserole !

I have had my freeze dryer for about 2 months. The freeze dryer is an excellent product and meets my expectations. It is made from high quality material, and I am expecting it to last a long time. I did find the instructions a little confusing in some areas, and this led to a small problem. I called customer service and they did an excellent job of solving the problem quickly and even followed up to make sure the freezer continued to work properly. I am very satisfied with the product.

Have had my medium Harvest Right for a few months now and have been quite happy overall. at one point I did have an issue with the trays overheating, but opened a help ticket and the problem was soon resolved by a technician troubleshooting the problem with me via phone. So far I have found the machine very easy to use, cleanup is simple and customer service has been great.

I purchased the Harvest Right Medium freeze dryer and am quite please with the product and results. The unit is very well made and when operating, there are no indications of any build quality issues. The noise level of the unit and vacuum pump are lower than i expected. The unit (and pump) do create a fair amount of heat when running, so ventilation around the unit is an important factor. Best piece of advise is to read the instruction manual and review the on-line videos from both Harvest Right and other users. I did NOT read the manual thoroughly and ended up submitting a support ticket which was responded to in a very short amount of time (better than most companies) and got the answer which was in the manual to begin with

Problems with a brand new unit (since repaired)

I bought a large HR machine and it didn't work from the start (with no physical damage from freight). I had to trouble shoot the vacuum problems and eventually arrange to return it to HR. I was upset that HR wouldn't just send me a replacement, but instead I had to wait about a month to get the same unit repaired. It has run 4 batches now without problems. Jake with HR was very helpful.
