I never had any idea that this amount of information about my car existed, much less being assembled together in a manner that's easy to understand, even with pictures. I bought it used and have been really lucky in terms of having few problems.

I was looking for something about my car title and this helped me find what I was looking for.

Scam, they don't charge $1.00, they charge $28.95!
The agreement looks like you are paying $1.00 for a report on your car. However, you are charged $28.95! We received a text moments after I agreed to the $1.00. "Chase Fraud: Did (my name) charge $28.95 at VEHICLE HISTORY on 8/07? Reply YES or NO."
We replied NO and my credit card was instantly closed down! Clearly, Chase has had problems with VEHICLE HISTORY in the past to send me a fraud alert. Now, I have to update all my auto payments relating to my card! To say that I'm angry is an understatement! Do not do business with this company, you will be sorry.

Scam - watch out for unauthorized 24 month subscriptions
Car History has a page that pops up when using their services from PUBCAR this page will lock you into a 24 month subscription without authorization. I contacted my bank immediately and froze the account as well as contacted the PUBCAR company who stated they issued a refund via US Mail and cancelled the subscription. This was on Thursday July 6. I went to the bank to get a new card on July 11 and there were 14 additional attempts to charge my card made by PUBCAR since the alleged cancellation of the subscription Contacting Pubcar again they stated there was a cancellation but no refund noted then proceeded to inform me that the refund would be into my account (not via US Mail) what was originally 10-14 days to receive has now turned into 15-21 days. Very sketchy and hope no one else falls prey to these scam artists.

Charges more than stated
I initially paid $1 for a report on 1 vehicle, I saw nothing about a recurring fee of $24 which I was charged the next day. This is only getting 3 stars because they fixed the problem. The thing is once she looked up my account she IMMEDIATELY said she could cancel it effective today and issued a refund. I said nothing about that at first, so they know this is a recurring problem.

I ordered a report from carhistory.com and the order summary stated it was $1.00. Entered CC info to pay and received a fraud alert; advised the $1.00 charge was valid and told by CC to re-enter which I did. I hit button to get report and entire PC froze up. Re-booted and tried to enter carhistory.com to get the report but it said email not found. Called the toll free number and spoke to Crystal who was very rude. She said there was no account under my name or my email and no charge. She also said the $1.00 would have been a downpayment for a $24 or $25 charge (not mentioned anywhere) but said no problem because there is no account. She disconnected. I logged into CC online and the $1.00 charge is pending! SCAM!!

Rip Off Web Site!
RIP OFF MERCHANTS - AVOID THIS SITE...I paid $1 for a VIN report that provided the manufacturers specification. The web site suggested it had more info. I wrote off the $1 but found 5 days later the web site had charged me $9.94. Trying to find out what this is but man it is just the hassle you can do without so I suggest you just avoid this web site.

Totally agree. SCAM. Web site said we would be charged $1.00. Never got a report and our credit card company blocked the two charges - for $23.95 and a second one for $9.83. then they checked and they had set themselves up as an auto pay for monthly services. I cancelled the card and had them turn off all monthly services.

And then they changed your one time
Selection , so they can continue to charge
Your credit card continuously .... And they hope that people do not watch their bank statement ..... Then when you contact them they keep telling you they will return your money , but do not refund your money .... This company is a thief ..... And I hope karma bites them hard one day ......

They try to make it seem like the report will cost $1 but there's a $24/month fee on top of that. That being said it's still a lot cheaper than CarFax and does the job.
