Great Counselor
So far, so good
I have been looking for some way to get therapy while living abroad. The country I am living in has it, but one 50 minute session costs more than one month of BetterHelp for me. So far, this has been a good option for me, but I have not been using it for more than a week at this time.
However, I think that the platform is good- I feel more comfortable talking about my innermost thoughts in writing, rather than with my voice. I feel that it gives me, personally, more coherence and then I can also go back on the session and review what was discussed as well.

lol, you can't be serious. You really sit around all day looking for reviews to counter don't you? Someone pays you a salary so you can come to work and do your best to suppress negative reviews. What a pathetic company! One day, your cash will bleed dry and BetterHelp will go down. That will be a good day.
Very frustrating
Because I never had time to do a visit to my therapist, I thought this would be a good and convenient replacement. I purchased a two month subscription through Groupon but could still not open an account without adding my credit card. I did so and was charged. When I disputed the charge they refunded me but over those two months I still did not speak to a therapist. No therapist was able to explain as to actually use the texting service and I found it difficult to engage otherwise. I submitted a request to close my account ahead of the Groupon deadline, only to find that I had been charged three weeks later. I have yet to receive a response from Betterhelp regarding this and had to file a complaint with my bank.
Anyway, I would not recommend this service and will stick to brick and mortar therapists. This entire experience has left me with more anxiety than what I was already trying to treat.

Great service
I am very pleased with my experience with Better Help. I found the sign-up process to be efficient and transparent. There was also a free trial period during which you were given full site functionality.
Now that I have been a customer for about 7+ months, I can say that I am still pleased with the service and plan to keep using it. The counselor I was assigned is a LISW-S. I was at first skeptical if her experience met my needs, but whatever method the site uses to match customers to counselors proved accurate.
My counselor is very responsive to my messages. I receive thoughtful replies multiple times a day most all days of the week. Worksheets are provided for my use when appropriate and various research articles are referenced when appropriate.
My counselor has been helpful, channeling my thinking, find behavior patterns in the things I describe to her and is always professional and polite.
I would recommend Better Help.
No service delivered by company, full refund refused
I found this company, BetterHelp and thought it would be good to try to enlist the assistance of a psychologist with remote services. I subscribed after reading the service was $45/week. I was matched with a counselor and made an appointment, speaking with him briefly. A few days later, I saw an entry on my bank account for a $180 payment to the company. I felt it was a little deceptive, but I was willing to try the service anyway. When the time came to have this appointment, I put time aside to meet my responsibility, but the counselor never appeared. I was waiting to chat for the full hour but the counselor never came during that time. He messaged me later asking if i was available the next day, which I was not.
I sent a request to the company to refund the payment I made, which they responded that
“When a member of BetterHelp asks for counseling, and is subsequently assigned a counselor, their counselor's capacity and availability for other members (who have also requested services) becomes limited. Therefore, we are generally unable to offer refunds.
However, I'm happy to let you know that I was authorized to change your plan from monthly billing to weekly billing at the same per-week price of $45 (weekly pricing is typically much higher than monthly pricing). In light of this, I already went ahead and processed a refund of $135 for your recent payment - so you've only been charged for one week. Please note it may take you bank up to three business days to show the refund in your account. “
I later received an email explaining that a full refund was issued. I looked in my bank account and saw that $135 was deposited there. $135 does not equal $180, therefore a full refund was not issued.
I maintained persistent contact, and they finally were persuaded to cough up the rest of my payment, but, I think it is unfair that they reflexively opted to keep my payment in full. I held up my part of the deal. The folks dealing with the business of human psychology have ought to be more aware of what they are doing. Furthermore, I resent their explanation that the client inconveniences the time of the counselor by subscribing to the service. I say avoid this service and their billing refund practices that assumes that the consumers are stupid.

I am really impressed by Betterhelp. I was matched with a counsellor very quickly, and the match was pretty darn perfect. My counsellor replies promptly to my offline communications, and the live talking by phone is slick. I have already started noticing an improvement in the issues that got me to go to Betterhelp. Therefore seems like money well spent :)
My experience has been totally positive both with the site and the counselling.

they're sneaky, they're abusing depressed people
On January 10, I wanted to give it a try because there was a one week free trial. When I was enrolling, I was asked to give my credit card details to pay $1 saying that that money is to be sure that everyone was serious about the counselling. I thought that was okay.
They immediately found me a counsellor who was very nice to me. But in 3-4 days I understood online counselling wasn't good for me. So I stopped using their service less than a week.
This week, I realise that they charged me $135 in March. So they started taking my money on March 1, $45 weekly. I immediately canceled my membership and wrote to their customer service. The customer service is offering to pay me the last payment only, that means $45, and adding that they don't check if I get any help or not.
I can understand that they have policies, but I am very sure that I didn't accept to pay $45 weekly, because I don't have that much money! I'm a student, and this is a huuuuge amount of money for me.
The only reason that I gave my credit card information was paying the $1 at the enrolment.
I think they aren't honest. I think they waited for a while and then they gave it a try to get my money, and they could do this for 3 weeks until I realise that I was getting robbed.
Now I kindly ask them to pay $135 back to me. Because they weren't clear about their policies, they're abusing the people who need help, who are in depression.
I could have recommended them to my friends if they didn't do that to me.

How about instead of clarifying your policy you just give her her money back? It doesn't matter what your policy is, if it's not clearly stated it's deceptive and will cause you to lose people's trust. I was considering signing up, but I'll pass.

Great thing for lower price
I gave it a try for the free week trial, and thought that the councelor might stall and ask more questions to extend my subscription. But she was great! She did ask more questions, but made me feel like she's truly interested, and gave me solutions to my problems right away.
It might not help every person, but for a skeptical introvert like me, who prefer text over talk - it works like magic. Also I can freeze my account if I feel like I won't be able to interract for a while, and unfreeze it later, so you don't pay for that time you didn't use, if you're a poor student, for example.
I quit their plan still got. Charged buddy
they don't try to make you extend your subscription. they do it anyway, and take your money. be careful

Its a scam they charhed me 200$ which is 12000 rupees in my country if u die because of this as i dont have money to eat i will definately commit sucide and write a note against better help and term them guilty its a big SCAM THEY DONT LET U CANCEL

Well, they say that you have one free week of consultation. I decided to go for it, why not?! After that week though, i decided to cancel my subscription because i never really used the website and any consultancy at all. What did they do? They still got the money off my credit card!
That is so unprofessional and unethical.
I am giving 2 stars, because i am not saying it is a SCAM, i will wait for them to return my money, otherwise i will be back here and will absolutely flag it as a SCAM!

I have signed for betterhelp.com for free. i liked consultation and i was close to pay money for furthers, but on that week betterhelp started to sned messages to my phone that 100$ and 200$ and 100$ again takeaway from my bank account. in that moment i turnd to my bank to prohibit my card. that was cost me 200$s. After i send message to betterhelp and they told me there wasnt any bank transfer, but the messages were from them. i send them email (betterhelp) to find a solution for my problem but didnt find any. It is really a problem me because 200$s are a lot of money for a young student
