I'm a food preservation junkie and have found the HarvestRight freeze dryer to be the ideal piece of equipment to do in-home preserving.

I don't completely understand the science behind freeze drying but it sure does what I was hoping for!

We have owned our HarvestRight freeze dryer for slightly over two years now and during that time we have had three problems with the unit.

In all three cases the response from HarvestRight service was prompt and the service people were a pleasure to work with. Also, in all three cases, replacement parts were required which were delivered within 48 hours at NO CHARGE for the parts or shipping.

I was able perform the repairs myself with the help of excellent YouTube videos that clearly showed how to do the repair. Plus, the HarvestRight service department phoned me a couple days after each repair to followup and confirm that the repair had been successful.

I am VERY pleased with the after sale service that HarvestRight has provided, even two years after the the sale.

I should also add that the food we have freeze dried has turned out very well. I especially recommend freeze drying raw eggs. To reconstitute them you mix 2 tablespoons of the powder with 2 tablespoons fo water to make one raw egg. And when you cook them you would have no idea that they had ever been freeze dried.

We have successfully freeze dried ham, chicken, sliced carrots, potatoes in various forms including mashed, cherry tomatoes, beef broth, chopped onions (LOTS of them), sliced strawberries, sliced apples . . . even ice cream! My mother-in-law can’t get enough freeze dried ice cream!

The only thing that did not turn out well was apple juice. I was expecting that though, because of the high sugar content in apple juice, but I HAD to try it anyway. It came out as a thick ‘tar’ which still reconstituted very nicely and tasted good. But it was a challenge to get it into the mylar bags.

I even tried freeze drying M&Ms . . . but it had no noticeable effect on them. Oh well, it was worth a try.

And the way ALL of the foods retain their flavor is absolutely amazing! Far better than dehydrating.

I highly recommend HarvestRight freeze dryers and commend the dedication of their service department.

We have freeze dried all kinds of fruits and vegetables. From our favorite fresh peaches, and pineapples to bananas, apricots and apples. We also enjoy freezing sweet potatoes and broccoli. The list is endless. We even tried freeze drying eggs which are great for camping and backpacking adventures. We’re still just beginners, but the process is so simple most everything turns out great.

We contemplated for almost a year before deciding to purchase the Harvest Right freeze dryer. Harvest Right’s reputation for reliability, design quality, and customer service were definitely the deciding factors. Our only regret would be that we didn’t purchase it sooner.
