A contractor who has tried to use porch

What is for sure unknown to the public is the contractors pay for these leads even though porch makes and leads the public to think they are free and they are far from it. We pay $50 for a furnace replacement lead only to find out it is a wrong number or the consumer has no clue why you are calling and refunds are almost impossible. Home Advisor the same way and in fact i think they all share bogus info and play it off as a solid lead. So if your a contractor don't bother if your a consumer be careful where you leave your In fo and call a licensed contractor direct. I have 3 of them and run a top of the mark company. Porch has never background checked us only when it was through Lowe's. You can't have a state license if your a criminal. Also consumers continue to shop on price and that is dangerous because normally they get taken when they do that. Thanks!

Do not ever use Porch in any way, what so ever.

They are truly crooks, with their, BBB friends as well. All working to get your money, by ripping you off.

I had never heard of Porch.com. Lowe's recommended it for some tile work I needed done. Handyman showed up high, from another State. He did a poor job, and I was billed an extra hour for no work. I contacted Porch emailing a picture. They claimed they could not access the picture then after sending again they stopped replying to me. Will take issue up with credit card company. The Porch "Warranty" is only marketing words.

I can tell you this as a contractor. I have used porch and they are a big rip off. they sent me so many bad leads. bad phone numbers They make it very hard to get a refund. I called Lowes corp they told me they are no longer affiliated with porch. that was the only reason I join porch because they were affiliated with Lowes. I have called and talk to people that have know clue why Im calling them. they still have 300.00 of my money. was told they dont give refunds.

I hired one of their "screened" contractors and he stole my money. Never did the work. I went for their "guarantee" and submitted everything they asked for -- INCLUDING MY BANK STATEMENT even though I had already sent them the cancelled check!! -- and then they say I am not eligible because I paid the contractor instead of them!?? DO NOT USE PORCH

Unreliable and no communication

Porch.com took over for a company already completing my lawn service. From the time they took over until we ended the lawn service with them, we had nothing but problems and very poor communication. They did not show up on the days promised, and when rescheduled, still didn’t show up on the day as promised. They cut our Internet cable lines and shredded them and left and no notice that they did so. The repair man who came to fix our lines said it was obvious they had been cut and anyone should have noticed. The final issue was that we got a call that our yard could not be serviced on the day promised and would be scheduled for the following day. No one showed up for three days and when trying to call, we would get an automated response email or no call back. After several calls and being put on hold for 30 minutes with no one answering, we got a call stating the people doing our yard had quit and there was no one to service our area. It took over a week to get this response, and during that time I could’ve been looking for a new service. I was told by the representative no one would be coming out to do our yard but that I wouldn’t have re-scheduling issues anymore. My response was if he couldn’t send anyone out of course I wouldn’t have re-scheduling issues because no one was showing up to miss the appointment. Very unprofessional company and no communication

No way they do background checks. After being taken by the contractor I conducted my own background check and this guy has taken a number of people just like he did me. He opens an LLC then works for 3 months or 4 until his customers are crawling all over him. Then he cancels his phone number email address and website and lets his LLC expire without paying his taxes. Then files bankruptcy. Do not use Porch.

Horrible Company. Beware of hidden fees.

I was told $129.00 for brush removal for two hours work.

I booked online and was told I would receive a phone call to confirm.

I never received a phone call.

I called them the next morning, and they said they just saw it and booked it 3 days in the future at 10:00 am.

I got a call before 10:00 am on the day they were to come, and they said they just saw it on their books, and have to reschedule. Then he added the $89.00 per truck load to remove the brush on top of the $129.00. (The city lets you dump brush for free, or the dump charges $10.00 per load). Where they got $89.00 per load is "BS". By the time I would have been done, I would have owed them $396.00.

I told them to forget it.

Porch called and sent someone over to see the job. Never heard back with an estimate . So my opinion is that unless it is a huge project no one is interested. Porch doesn't have a rein on their people.

I called this company after Home Depot refereed then to be for cabinet installments. I gave them all the all the information about the cabinets and they let me know the price I would pay at the end of the job. They sent someone by the name of Blake. He came late didn’t finish the job. He told me I had to pay more in order to finish the job. I called the person back that I made the appointment with and finally agreed to pay another $700 to finish the cabinets because I was threatened to be taken to court if I did not pay. Well the guy came didn’t do the job right and when I told him I didn’t approve of his work, he threatened to punch me in my face and stormed out of my house. Beware of this company and a contractor named Blake!!!

They charged my card, they don't have the leads in my field and they are not giving my money back. I tried to expand my trade a little, but still no leads in my area. Been 6 months no leads no refund and leads that they did provide were junk. Stay away, don't waste money like I did.

yep they charged me per lead and then sold the same lead 8 other times.most customers want 3 or 4 contractors NOT 8 or more.When I call the lead they hang up because of to many calls STAY AWAY dont waste your money

We signed on August 2016. Had a budget of $250 of leads coming to us each month. If a customer requested a basement remodel, we'd get charged $50 right off the bat. The problem was, when we'd call or email we wouldn't get a response back. This kept happening over and over. It's June 6, 2017. Finally, one customer told me she had received over 10 Contractor leads and her phone was ringing off the hook, frustrated and began avoiding all calls.

If we didn't receive communication back from the customer within one to two days, we'd ask for a refund. If you waited any later than that, Porch won't refund you. WELL, Porch has now altogether began ignoring our refund request and I can't call them directly - only an email is provided (BIG PROBLEM!). If I send an email, it takes PORCH weeks to get back to me.

We're fed up with Porch (which is Lowe's Home Improvement). Canceling our Porch Pro membership.

The company used to have its contractors subscribe to zip codes and you would receive all the leads for those zip codes as a one time charge. Then they went the way of pay per lead and everything went down hill. You will be lucky if you can ever even speak to 40% of the leads they give you, and they are giving customer info to 4 companies. NO CUSTOMER wants to setup four bids One or two contractors will automatically be ignored by the customer. They also exaggerate what the customer actually wants so they can charge you more per lead.

PORCH allowed a disgruntled FACEBOOK moron,who was upset with a FACEBOOK POST to put in a negative company review regarding racism,.....which has nothing to do with HVAC,,{my trade}....I informed PORCH of the negative complaint which never had a connection with my heating company....never done work for this guy,never even met him,,,,,,,,,,,yet PORCH wants me to go thru loops to clear my name,,,they want me to sign up and start account to fight this,,,,jeez,,,,,,what a crappy company,,i don,t want a account or anything from them WTF>

A Service Company's Perspective.

The sales team at porch are very informative and great at sales.

However, follow though in setting up our account was horrible.

We were registered in Kansas, even though the company is located Houston, Texas. We specified that we do not service septic tanks.

Septic tanks were at LEAST 50% of our leads, and when we didn't call the customer, and disputed the charge, Porch complained that we were not returning customer phone calls. 3 months after closing my account I am still getting emails from Porch.

I thought they were going to be different!

Sadly, a rip off like MOST companies that are structured this way.

I put my request for a general contractor to add a kitchen to my new home. 3 GCs contacted me out of which 2 could not start any time soon and I was in a hurry. The housewarming was in a month. I went with the 3rd who assured me we will not be done by the party but definitely close to presentable. That was the 5th of September. Today is the 25th of October. I have my roof weatherproofed ( which isn't level, accumulates rain water and is not sealed where it ends) and framework half done (the stucco guy cannot finish his stucco work and the glass guy cannot put the glass in since my GC was waiting for the floor to be done). But he did the framework! Before the floor (construction 101, I was told later). Needless to say they want to finish their work and get paid! Sorry for the TMI. I asked if I could have a handyman for odd jobs before the party since they weren't doing anything. He gave me a 17 years of experience electrician who broke my TV first thing! I got mad and obviously fired him. Told him to bring his invoices 2 days later(after the party) and get his payment. He came back in 2 (Tuesday) days demanding $11,700! We paid him $6000 and persuaded him to just finish what he had started and get paid with the next check exactly a week from that day. He said he cannot come until next monday. He called Monday to say he can't make it till Wednesday. He comes on Wednesday at 2:30pm and said since its late he'll start the next day AND asked for that check, of course! We couldn't give him a check that day and requested to give us a day or two but to please at least start work! This is when I was told "I am not interested in doing your project, just pay me the $5,700. I contacted the police to understand where I stand. The officer advised me to call him and have him take his things. Pay him if I want to but get it in writing. All that got done and then I approached Porch that backs the work of their contractors. I provided them all the paperwork, pictures etc they needed and they said they will resolve this and even give me $1000 towards what's been spent. A week later, they contacted me saying they had spoken to the GC and it's a money issue so they'll stay out of it. Nothing regarding the pictures, the project not near completion, how other techs could not get paid because his work was incomplete or how the whatever little was done was also done wrong. When I kept emailing and calling as to how they could just take the word of a contractor over a client (who had nothing to lose, except a much anticipated kitchen!). Bottom line....they will take their contractors side no matter what and their guarantees and their contractors line up is BS!

Total waste of time and money

Porch sales pitch is the only thing that was good. Customer service was lacking, all leads were fake phone numbers, customers wanted free estimates to negotiate real estate, competitors looking for comparable pricing etc. Nothing was actual potential customers.

Told porch account representative to close our account as soon as our required 3 months was up, it was not done and Porch will not refund money.

A total scam

Had the exact same experience, total waste of time and money. Leads were from fake phone numbers or customers who wanted free quotes to negotiate real estate. This company is a scam.

This is the worst company that I have ever been evolved with. The account was never set up correct. I get leads from a different state and different services that we don't provide. I called and emailed sever times and the problems was never solved. I thought i would pay them for the first three months for the service that I as not happy with But after the three months they keep taking money from my account. In spite of me cancelling my service via. Email and spoke to two reps. THIS IS THE SAME COMPANY AS HOME ADVISER. If you ask them they say no.

Signed up with porch, 3 month minimum contract at 300 a month. Immediately after signing porch dropped the ball, account manager was out of town, sick, not available etc so now I am paying for a service that I am not signed up or receiving anything from. Weeks later account manager sets everything up finally. I already knew at this point I would likely be canceling after my 3 month. 3rd month charge comes around so I call porch to cancel. The rep tries to convince us not to cancel and after being firm he states that it will be cancelled and I will NOT receive any further charges. This month comes around and I am charged. I immediately call porch on friday october the 9th around 7AM arizona time. I speak with a young man who has to research my account and read " all the notes". He then tells me he sees what has happened is that the person who cancelled my account sent the cancelation to my account manager who no longer works there and that he would forward all this information to my new account manager who would then refund the 4th charge of 300. Rep stated he saw all my calls and my cancellation request email. He puts me on hold for five minutes while he makes "notes" and sends to his supervisor. he assures that this will be refunded and it was an error on porchs side. Now this week I call and ask why am I still not refunded. rep states she will have to research and call me back. She calls today to inform me she does see that I cancelled and listened to the call but she does not see a refund request and is not authorized to do so, but she will offer me one month free, I basically laughed in her face. I do not want anything to do with this company and just want the 300 refunded. The rep told me she also sees that lack of communication on there part but she doesn't know how to refund me so instead she would like to offer free services. NO THANKS. company is a scam and I should have known from the cold calling sales tactics. I would like a refund for the october charge

I have generated good leads from Porch for the last 12 months. Especially, fill-in projects when other projects are on hold Porch has helped generate extra revenue. And has helped provide exposure to audience in search of our services. I gladly recommend Porch.
