ARMRA Colostrum is marketed as supplement that helps improve health and protect against the hazards of modern day living.

How Does it Work?

ARMRA states they rely on proprietary technology to efficiently extract nutrients from this natural superfood, claiming that their product leads the industry in quality.

The company was founded by Dr. Sarah Rahal, a pediatric neurologist with a focus on environmental and functional medicine.

She created ARMRA Colostrum as an antidote to the rise in chronic disease that she has witnessed in her clinical work.

Rahal believes that the onslaught of environmental hazards such as pollutants, pesticides, pathogens, unregulated chemicals, refined sugars, and processed ingredients has left modern humans with weakened immune systems and inflamed organs.

She goes on to say that balance can be restored to the immune system with the right nutrients, specifically with their Immune Revival Supplement.

Below we take an in depth look into ARMRA products, the benefits of Colostrum, and what customer reviews have to say.

What is Colostrum?

Colostrum is a milky liquid produced by mammals before breast milk production begins.  This first or "early milk” is valued for its immense nutritional content that helps infants grow and ward off disease.

Researchers have found that, when compared to mature milk, it contains substantially higher concentrations of:

  • Macro and micro nutrients
  • Growth factors,
  • Antimicrobial compounds
  • Immunoglobulin (antibodies)
  • Natural antibiotics

Overall, Colostrum provides support for the immune system and encourages muscle and tissue growth.

Historically it has been used to treat bacterial infections, promote healing, and gastrointestinal issues.  There are now over 2,000 studies done regarding the use, safety, and benefits of colostrum.

As adults, humans can consume Colostrum in the form of Bovine Colostrum supplements which are derived from cows.

These supplements are now being considered for use on gastrointestinal issues such as:

  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug–induced gut injury,
  • H pylori infection
  • Immune deficiency related diarrhea
  • Infective diarrhea
  • Treatment of autoimmune disorders.  [1][2]

Potential Health Benefits Of Colostrum

ARMRA states that the use of their supplement can aid with following:

  • Immunity
  • Increase Metabolism
  • Improve Gut Health
  • Better Sleep
  • Mood Enhancement
  • Improve Focus
  • Support Sinus Health
  • More Radiant Skin
  • Activate Hair Growth
  • Improve Performance and Recovery

Below we’ll take a closer look at each claim and review the research that may or may not support it.

Immunity  -  One of the more heralded benefits of colostrum comes from the fact that it is high in Lactoferrin - a protein critical in immune response, and high in immunoglobulins IgA, IgG, and IgM.

There is a lot of research on this topic.  One study stated that “it has become evident that oral bLF (Bovine Lactoferrin) had a beneficial effect on infections of both digestive and non digestive tract tissue in various animal models."

Following up with the effects of bLF have been indicated in clinical studies on patients with Helicobacter pylori infection, chronic hepatitis C, tinea pedis, and other diseases.[3]

Another one concluded that, “Lactoferrin is a key element to combat excessive inflammation and direct host immune function to protect against overaggressive microbial insults.”[4]

Increase Metabolism  -  ARMRA has provided their own research into this which found,  “ARMRA-treated cells showed 11% higher cellular viability and metabolic activity in healthy immune cells and 22% higher cell viability in gut epithelial cells under inflamed conditions."

Another study referenced that it is also the fat content in colostrum that plays a role in the supply of nutrients to provide energy and increase metabolism in newborn calves. [5]

Improve Gut Health  -  ARMRA states that one of the key reasons for taking colostrum supplements is to help fortify your gut wall system, replenish your gut microbiome, and block irritants that activate gastrointestinal discomfort and symptoms of IBS.

One study done on athletes who developed intestine permeability due to vigorous training found that, “Colostrum bovinum supplementation was safe and effective in decreasing of intestinal permeability in this series of athletes at increased risk of its elevation” [6]

This was supported by another data review study on the Influence of Bovine Colostrum Supplementation on Leaky Gut Syndrome in Athletes. [7]

Another study found preliminary evidence “that bovine colostrum…may provide a novel approach to the prevention of NSAID-induced gastrointestinal damage in humans." [8]

Improve Sleep  -  ARMRA states that their supplement can help bring balance to your circadian rhythm by fueling the synthesis of hormones and neurotransmitters essential for regulating the sleep cycle such as melatonin.

In our research we did not find the specific study to support this statement, though it may be in their listed references.  We did find a paper that linked sleep inconsistency with inflammatory biomarkers. [9]

So ARMRA may be able to influence your sleep in this manner, by lowering overall inflammation in the gut microbiome.

Mood & Focus Enhancement  -  Similar to sleep there is more research being done that links improved gut health to a wide variety of health benefits, of which mood enhancement via improved production of dopamine and serotonin may be one.

As one paper states that “gut bacteria manufacture about 95 percent of the body's supply of serotonin, which influences both mood and GI activity." [10]

Sinus Health  -  They state that by strengthening the immune barriers in your nasal passages, sinuses, and lungs you can block allergens from entering the body.  In this manner ARMRA Colostrum can provide relief during allergy season.

There may be something to this as one comprehensive report points out the lower instances of allergy development amongst farm raised raw milk drinking youth vs city raised conventional milk drinking youth. [11]

And another study concluded that “Among patients with allergic rhinitis and asthma, use of bovine colostrum supplement compared with placebo significantly reduces nasal allergy symptoms and improves lung function.” [12]

Radiant Skin  -  Colostrum is used in the skincare industry in different capacities and is thought to have some benefits for skin appearance and potentially aiding with some skin issues.  It has been used both topically and orally.

This comprehensive review goes over its potential benefits in cosmetic applications as well as treating skin wounds. [13]

Performance and Recovery - Another area where the use of colostrum has many potential benefits.

One study examining high level athletes found that, “low dose bovine CPC (bovine colostrum protein concentrate) supplementation was associated with a worthwhile improvement in performance and a reduction in fatigue following a 5 day HIT period." [14]

ARMRA Immune Revival

ARMRA claims that their colostrum supplement Immune Revival is superior to competitors due to their proprietary extraction method using "Cold-Chain BioPotent Technology".

They go on to claim tha5 their method preserves the 200+ bioactive nutrients and that their colostrum is thoughtfully sourced from grass-fed cows raised on family-owned U.S. dairy farms.

Their method is also unique in that it removes compounds such as casein and fat.  It also contains no artificial fillers or additives and is claimed to be 3rd party tested.

Colostrum Side Effects & Concerns

These supplements are considered to be very safe, but as always check with your health care provider before starting any new supplement regimen, especially if you have any health issues or are on medication.

The biggest questions people usually have with colostrum supplements is in regard to it being a dairy product.

ARMRA states that their supplement contains lactose and may not be suitable for people who are severely lactose intolerant, however they do say it present in small amounts.

Further they explain that since ARMRA does not contain casein protein it may be ok for those who only have dairy intolerances.

They also believe that it is the manufacturing process of commercial dairy that’s responsible for allergies and intolerances to those products, and ARMRA could be tolerable by most people due to its higher quality.

Ultimately this will be a personal decision to try this product if you have difficulties with dairy.

It's important to find high quality colostrum supplements that come from well cared for and grass fed cows in order to avoid any potential antibiotics, pesticides, or synthetic hormones in your supplements.

Ethical Dilemmas

Some people may have ethical dilemmas when taking colostrum, as this milk is intended for the cows’ calves.

ARMRA states that their colostrum is responsibly sourced and only collected from overflow after the calves are fed.

They also say that even some vegans choose to use these supplements and that colostrum use has historical roots with some Indian spiritual leaders who are also vegan.

Customer Reviews & Complaints

On their own website ARMRA has glowing customer reviews, with customers stating that the supplement has helped them with digestion and bloating, decreased seasonal allergies, as well as improved mood and energy levels.

ARMRA Colostrum is also very well reviewed by independent health bloggers who unanimously call it the next great superfood.

While the reviews are independent, it's worth mentioning that many of them are promoting ARMRA and earn commissions for their sale referrals.

This makes it difficult to discern how genuine the reviews actually are.

Though ARMRA Colostrum seems to have a respectable 4.1/5 star rating on Amazon from over 1,400 customer reviews, there is an issue there.

Fakespot, a service that specializes in analyzing Amazon customer reviews, gives ARMRA a 'D' grade and revises the customer reviews down to 2/5 stars, indicating that there is a high level of deception involved in the product's Amazon reviews.

The Bottom Line

Based on the research presented by ARMRA and our findings it seems that there is a strong case to be made for the health benefits of colostrum.

Even though some of the studies may be small and preliminary, there is enough cumulative research to support the potential for a lot of the claims made by ARMRA.

If you're looking to improve your immune system and work on resolving digestive issues a colostrum supplement may provide you with some benefits.

We suggest for you to do your own research and consult with a healthcare professional.

Whether you choose ARMRA Immune Revival or another brand it’s best to start with a small order to see how your body responds to colostrum, especially if you have issues with dairy.

In this case it would be best to order the powder sticks since they are eligible for return if you have a negative reaction.
