About Yonder.com Vacation Rentals

One of the drawbacks of many popular travel agencies and online booking sites is their limitations. While it might be easy to book a hotel or even to book a cabin from a homeowner, it’s not always easy to find sites that support properties like farms. These are still destinations that people want to visit, but it has been difficult to find sites that can connect owners and travelers who want these types of experiences with their vacation rentals.

The Yonder team saw the potential for these types of experiences and created a booking site that can help those looking for them and those who own these types of properties.

Travel Booking with Yonder: What Are the Options?

Although the first properties on the site were often farms, they are not the only option. In addition to Yonder farm stays, there are options for other types of travel. This includes ranches, vineyards, mountain properties, forest properties, waterfronts, and much more.

Why would you want to book one of these types of stays? They are a bit different from the norm, and you can enjoy some experiences that you would not get elsewhere. The properties will often have activities that you can experience. This might include making goat milk soap, hiking, horseback riding, tours, and more.

Yonder provides guests with a wide range of different types of locations and experiences they will not be able to find elsewhere.

What is a Yonder Steward?

A Yonder Steward is simply the fancy term that’s used for the property owners who are offering up their spaces for vacation rentals. If you want to list your property as a vacation experience, though, it will need to meet certain requirements. Let’s take a closer look at these.

  • Farm/Ranch/Vineyard – The property needs to be rural and outside of any city limits, active public commerce, and there need to be active agricultural, cattle, horse, or vineyard operations.
  • Waterfront – This type of property needs to be right next to a body of water. This could be a lake, river, or ocean.
  • Mountain – Needs to be on a mountain, peak, summit, or ridge.
  • Forest – Needs to be in the forest. This could be a tropical forest, boreal forest, or temperate forest.
  • Open Sky/Escape – Needs to be in a desert, on a prairie, highland, or inland. It needs to be remote to qualify.

Additionally, the properties are required to have certain basic amenities. This includes electricity, water access, a toilet and essentials, shower and essentials, kitchen or offered meals, and sleeping space with provided linens.

The properties need to be clean, and they need to have safety materials, including a fire extinguisher, first aid kit, fire and carbon monoxide detectors, and locks. They also need to comply with building codes. The Yonder Stewards are also supposed to be sustainably-minded, and they will need to have all proper insurance.

If you want to list your property and become a Yonder Steward, it’s a good idea to check their site and make sure that your property meets all of the requirements. Get in touch with them if you are unsure. It’s a lot to consider—more than many other options—but it can be a good niche site to become part of, so you could make some extra money.

The Cancellation Policies

If you are going to consider a stay at one of the properties, you will want to be sure that you check the pricing and the cancellation policies first. The Stewards have a choice of choosing from four cancellation policies—Relaxed, Balanced, Strict, and Non-Refundable.

  • Relaxed – Full refund for canceling 48 hours before the scheduled arrival
  • Balanced – Full refund for canceling 7 days before the scheduled arrival
  • Strict – Full refund within two days of booking
  • Non-Refundable – After booking, no refunds will be accepted

How to Contact Customer Service?

If you need to contact the company, you have a couple of options. You could opt to send an email to [email protected] You could also call 1-800-218-7888. They will work to answer any questions that you might have about the service.

Online Customer Complaints/Reviews

The Yonder.com site has a lot of information, but it’s not always organized as well as it should be. What should be a single click to reach information, whether it’s about becoming a Yonder Steward or becoming a guest, often takes multiple clicks. Even then, it doesn’t always get you to the spot you need. This can end up being frustrating since it will take longer to find what you need.

Aside from minor quibbles some have with the way the site works, most feel that it’s a good overall service. There aren’t many negative reviews about the site or the Yonder Stewards. People seem to be genuinely happy with the experiences and properties that are offered.

Should You Consider Booking with Yonder.com?

If you are someone who loves to travel and you want to have some different types of vacation rentals, then Yonder.com could be a good option. Just make sure that you understand all of the policies and pricing before you choose a place to vacation.

If you own a piece of property that would qualify for one of these types of stays, you might want to list your property. It could be a good way to reach a new audience that is interested in the type of activities that can be found on your vacation property.
