About XMind

XMind, found online at XMind.net, is a company who says that they have worked to provide people with a more elegant and effective way to gather, analyze, and then utilize their knowledge, information, and ideas.

How Does It Work?

According to their website, many people have learned that in order to really capitalize on their brainstorming process and successfully pull a working idea, project, product, or prototype out of it, you have to be able to visualize your entire thought process.

Visualization the thought process allows people to gather their ideas and structure them logically, and easily eliminate any irrelevant information while determining and emphasizing the information that is most critical. In addition, you can find the relationships, patterns, priorities, and trends that come from your brainstorming, and from there, be able to “assess the profit, cost and risk for better decisions.”

This mind mapping process is valuable not just for students and employees, but also for people who just want to engage in the creative process for their own personal reasons. XMind provides the mind mapping software necessary for you to be able to do all of these things.

You can begin by displaying your central topic and then freely building off of it, adding anything that occurs to you no matter how loosely or closely related it is. People report being surprised by the direction their project took after they were able to evaluate, organize, and connect their ideas, as well as sharing it with others to help them through the process.

Cost/Price Plans

The XMind 6 software is available completely for free, and offers users all kinds of diagrams, their Mind Toolbox, a local sharing network, the ability to save to Evernote, and the ability to share their projects on the web.

The XMind Plus is their next available plan, which includes all the same features as XMind 6, plus the ability to export your products to PDF/Word/PowerPoint/Excel/SVG/OpenOffice, and their Creative Toolbox, all for a one-time fee of $79.

Finally they offer their XMind Pro, which offers every feature of the Plus package, as well as their Brainstorming Mode, Presentation Mode, Gantt View, the Business Toolbox, and the ability to export to Microsoft Project, all for a one-time fee of $99.

XMind also offers their packages to enrolled students at a discount, including their XMind Plus for just $39 and the XMind Pro for $49.

Refund Policy

The website does say that they allow their customers 30 days in which to try out their features and tools, and any customer who feels dissatisfied and unhappy with their software during this time period can send them an email requesting a refund and they promise to return 100% of your purchase price as soon as possible.

Reputation

Though there are not many reviews of this software available from individual users and customers, there are many different third party independent web publications that have reviewed it.

In general, XMind appears to be very well liked and is often recommended by more than one website as an extremely helpful and useful brainstorming tool, especially since they offer a free version of their tools, as well as a 30 day Refund Policy for any of their paid plans.
