Wish.com is a mobile application and website that says they provide their customers with a new way to find clothing and accessories in a way that makes the shopping experience fun.  

How Does Wish.com Work?

In order to begin shopping on this website or on their mobile application, you must create a personal account using either your Facebook or Google Plus login, or using an active email account, and then provide them with basic information regarding your age and your gender so they can fill up your home feed page with products that are likely to appeal to you.

You can either use their search feature to try and filter out their products to a specific one you are interested in, such as “Shoes” or “Sunglasses,” or you can simply search through your main feed page and see what interests you.

Once you click on a product you are interested in purchasing, you will see the original price, the estimated discount they are providing you with their Wish.com price, and any other information you will need to determine if you would like to purchase the product, like size guide, delivery information, estimated shipping cost, and more.  


Mobile Options

Currently this website does provide a downloadable mobile application for both iOS and Android devices. At this time, there is no information available on whether or not they will expand their mobile offerings in the future. 

Cost/Price Plans

Downloading this application and using it to shop is completely free. Most of the items listed for sale on this website appear to be around $20 and under, though there is no hard and fast rule about any price limitations on what is sold on this website.

Merchants who choose to use Wish.com in order to sell their products will be charged a fee whenever one of their items is successfully sold through their website or application, though these fees are not openly published on their site at this time. 

Refund Policy

Wish.com says that customers who are unhappy with what they have ordered are able to return anything they have purchased within 30 days of its delivery date. Customers who need to initiate a return should go to their account Order History page and then click Contact Support next to the item you wish to return. Explain to Wish Support why you need to return the item and that you are requesting a refund.

Wish.com Reputation

Oddly enough, there is some serious disparity in the reviews about this company that exist. Reviews of this company from third party independent publications tend to be incredibly positive, while the reviews from actual customers appear to be fairly negative.

It seems that the real difference between these two types of reviews is that the publications are essentially reviewing the approach to ecommerce that is being taken by Wish.com, which is to create a market that functions almost entirely via their mobile application.

The company management is actually quoted in one article as saying they don’t even update their website any longer, because their entire market shops via mobile app. The publications are excited about this approach to business, and what it can offer both merchants and customers.

The customer reviews, on the other hand, are specific to their products and services and in general they are not good. There are many, many complaints about how long it takes products to ship, and that certain products simply never arrive.

Others were complaining about the cheap quality of the products they purchase, and the vast majority of customers complained about the inaccurate sizing, saying that clothing comes in significantly smaller than it should.  

Competitors and Alternatives?

Wish.com is definitely not the first company to try and capitalize on the mobile application market and those who are like the convenience of shopping from their mobile devices, including BuyVia, Shopkick, Poshmark.com, and more.

They have a lot of random stuff. Despite their claim that you can buy in confidence from them because "they have your back" it is a hassle trying to return items. DO NOT attempt to call their 1-800 number because after you listen to its recorded messages, it then says that the service is unavailable. No it wasnt just a system outage, I have been trying for days. You can ONLY communicate with "reps" via the app. But, before you can get to that stage you have to answer questions from an automated online "help assistant" who basically vets why you need customer service. Then you have to wait 24 to 48 hours for a response. To make matters worst, they want you to upload a picture of the item you are trying to return, regardless if the system says it was delivered on the 3rd and you are trying to return it on the 4th. BUT, you just cannot upload said picture, nope you have to go back through the entire online customer service complaint vetting assistance and restate all of why the product was crappy just to upload the required picture. After that a customer rep will send you a standard we apologize blah blah. But what is alarming is that they say "they need to contact the store to SEE how you can obtain a refund" and they will get back with you in 24 to 48 hours. At this rate, your ONE MONTH refund time is slowly being eaten away just to return a product and get your money back. The saying is true, you get what you pay for. I am still undergoing the "return process" its almost like begging to get YOUR money back. In the future I cannot see me purchasing anything over $10 if at all. I cannot stomach having to beg and plead with a merchant that offers "returns" to get my money back for crappy products. BEWARE YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

I have ordered several items of the past few months and I have only ever had one issue that is late delivery. I have always gotten every single order I places. Sure it may have taken over a month to get some of the items.

If you pay $6 for a pair of jeans, you get a $6 pair of jeans.

I purchased items from wish.com 3 times. The 1st time was to get the free gift they offered for registering. I only had to pay $1 for shipping. It took many weeks to receive the item and it was, well, worth what i paid. Haha. The 2nd time i ordered a leather bag for myself and a wallet for my husband. I'm not sure if my bag was really leather but it was cute and inexpensive. My husbands wallet fell apart in just a few days. Regrettably, i made my 3rd purchase from them one day before the wallet mishap. I ordered some red sheer curtains and 6 weeks later i received some PINK sheer curtains and a gawdy purple tieback (rediculous). I have not and will not purchase anything from them again.

I have placed a few orders with Wish.com and some of my items were pretty good quality but more than not they were pretty low quality. I have found that you really need to read the customer reviews of the product before you order because they are usually correct. If a product looks good and has good customer reviews, you can find some really good bargains. Just make sure you read the reviews. There are usually several for every product. Sometimes shipment is a little slow but all my items have eventually been delivered to me. I will probably order from them again in the future after checking out an item more closely.

Usually junk - but it's at least cheap junk.

Buying from Wish (or their sister site, Geek) is essentially funneling pocket change into items of very, very questionable quality. Some items I've gotten still work to this day, some barely worked for a week. And in the event of a return, you can expect to wait weeks to get back what you paid.

The advertising is often poorly written - definitely bad Chinese translations - and is even more often misleading. Even if you can decipher the error-ridden English, you can expect it to be vague to the point of being useless. Items usually don't even come with instructions, which is a real pain in the hind quarters with electronics.

And the shipping? Hope you wanted that item a month after you bought it. Though surprisingly cheap, considering how far it has to go to reach the customer, a snail would run laps around the transit.

All in all, don't buy anything you want to rely on from Wish or Geek. Whoever said "buy it cheap, buy it twice" is right on the money, and that tidbit couldn't apply more to Wish.
