Wild Earth Dog Food creator Wild Earth states that most dog foods are unnecessarily over-reliant on meat in their kibble formulations, and that they offer a healthier, vegan-friendly alternative.

How Does it Work?

Wild Earth dog food is a vegan dog food brand, seen on Shark Tank, that contains natural ingredients. You’ll find things like oats, chickpeas, pumpkin, sweet potato, and spinach in this food.

It’s made with a 31% complete protein and is rich in both fatty acids and omega-3s. Not only is it safe for dogs with meat- and dairy-based allergies, since it contains neither, but it has some pretty impressive nutrition facts to boot.

With 333 kcal/cup, this dog food contains just as many calories as you are probably already used to giving your cup.

Not only that, but it’s loaded with prebiotic fibers to help improve your dog’s microbiota and resistance to various diseases. It contains no additives, artificial preservatives fillers, animal byproducts, or other mystery ingredients.

The dog food is safe for dogs of all breeds. While dogs need protein, they don’t need meat - and a plant based dog food is the right way to go for many p ups.

This dog food is made with mushrooms for its source of protein and has undergone no kennel animal testing. It’s safe for dogs of all ages, too - it’s even safe for puppies. It is also AAFCO-approved.

Competitors and Alternatives

When you’re looking for more natural dog food alternatives for your pup, you may wonder if there are any options out there besides Wild Earth. Luckily, there are.

Wild Earth vs. Taste of the Wild - Taste of the Wild is a high-protein dog food that contains meat as the first ingredient. You’ll find all kinds of flavors, including salmon and bison.

Taste of the Wild dog foods are much less expensive than Wild Earth, however, and ingreidnets are still sustainable, nutrient-rich, and digestible.

Wild Earth vs. Natural Balance - Although Natural Balance is not a vegan dog food, it is a limited ingredient food.  This means it contains fewer ingredients so you don’t have to worry about your dog suffering from food allergies.

These foods are slightly less expensive than Wild Earth dog foods and sold in a variety of sizes and flavors, too.

The Bottom Line

If you’re a conscientious dog parent, you might be wondering how you can feed your dog a more 'responsible diet'.  After all, according to a study by UCLA, pets are responsible for nearly a third of America’s carbon footprint.

If you are interested in feeding your dog a plant based diet and want to eschew normal dog foods in favor of those without meat, you may want to consider Wild Earth dog food.

Animal products are safe for pets - even animal byproducts, despite an FDA recall in 2018 that drew attention to a pet food containing chemicals used to euthanize animals.

However, Wild Earth dog food is the way to go if you want to feed your dog a more sustainable diet. These foods are better for the environment without sacrificing the health ( or palate! ) of your dog.

The taste
November 16, 2021

My Chihuahua-Spaniel mix has been eating Wild Earth since it was first released. I was pleased that he liked it at first, but he wasn't "the taste that dogs love" kind of like. Now that he's turned four, he's taken to actively spitting out the kibble when he tastes it. I should probably upload a video as it's kind of funny.

So I now have to disguise WEKibble with things like spaghetti-sauce for him to eat it. I'm continuing to use Wild Earth, though, as I believe it's the most healthy dog food anywhere. While I would like to give a 5-star rating, since my dog doesn't love it, I've giving 4-stars . It's important to me that my dog enjoys his meals.
