About VPI Pet Insurance
VPI, found online at PetInsurance.com, is a company that says the invented the modern day pet insurance policy and their goal is to cover all of your pets so they can best maintain their health and wellness.
The VPI website posts last year's top 50 medical issues incurred by dogs across the country, as well as what the average cost their treatment would have been if they had not been covered by insurance.
How Does It Work?
Currently VPI pet insurance is available for dogs, cats, birds, exotic pets, and potentially more. They are one of the only pet insurance services that covers animals beyond dogs and cats.
Once you have received your quote and purchased your actual insurance plan, your pet will covered for injuries with 24 hours of receiving your first policy payment. The rest of your policy's coverage takes about 14 days to kick in and cover your pet.
Unfortunately there are issues that will not be covered, including elective procedures, congenital conditions, pet foods, grooming, behavioral problems and pre-existing conditions, but VPI does promise that they will never raise your premium for making a claim on your policy.
Comprehensive plans range between $25-$35 per month and will cover accidents, illnesses, and hereditary issues, while Everyday care plans cost between $18-$24 per month and will cover vaccinations, flea control, and more, and Emergency plans costs $10-$11 per month and only covers accidents.
Prices will be most significantly impacted by the age of your pet, its species, size, plan type, deductible, and your state of residence.
PetInsurance.com does says customers are allowed to cancel their policy before the term period is up if they choose. As long as you cancel in writing, you can cancel at any time and will receive a refund of your unused premium.
Customers who cancel their policies with 10 days of their initial purchase can receive a 100% refund of the money they've paid.
Customer Service Contact Info
Customers who would like to contact their Customer Service team with any questions, concerns, or complaints can do so by phone at 800-872-7387 for new enrollments and 800-540-2016 for current policyholders, or by traditional mail at P.O. Box 2344, Brea, CA 92822.
As with many other pet insurance companies, this company has some unhappy customers that are very vocal with their complaints regarding arguing with their customer service about whether or not a health situation is "pre-existing."
