About Udate.com

Udate.com is a UK based dating site which promises to give people the ability to search through thousands of people in their database to find people who they may want to date – or to let them find them.

How Does It Work?

When you go to Udate.com you will immediately be asked for your residential zip code, so the website can get you set up with the profiles of members who also live or travel in your area.

You will then be asked your gender, and the intended gender of the matches you are hoping to meet, as well as to choose your User Name, password, and for an active email address to link to your account.

Once you have submitted all this information, you will immediately be transferred to Match.com, a well-known and popular dating website. While Udate.com was created as a dating site specifically for the United Kingdom, it was recently purchased by USA Interactive, the company that owns Match.com as an acquisition intended to help Match.com go international, as reported by the Wall Street Journal

Ultimately, though Udate was its own company at one time with its own features and its own member population, it seems that since November it has been fully absorbed by Match.com, and the two now act as a single dating site.

Cost/Price Plans

Like most other websites, Match.com does not publish a standard pricing guide to their services, because prices change based on promotions, length of subscription, the type of services you wish to receive, and more.

Generally speaking, you should be able to create a profile for free, but then will have to upgrade to a paid membership when you wish to begin communicating with other members, whether you initiate the communication or you wish to respond to a communication.

Refund Policy

At this time, the website says that unfortunately they do not offer refunds of any kind, whether partial or full, even in circumstances of cancellations. If you choose to cancel your subscription, you’ll still have access to your services until the end of your billing date, and then you will not be charged again. It is important to note, however, that all cancellations must be put in writing before the beginning of the next billing cycle.

Customer Service Contact Info

Customers who wish to contact their Customer Service team with any questions, concerns, or complaints can do so by submitting them directly to their website through their Contact Us link, which is accessible through your profile.

Match.com has many, many mixed reviews, but their website honestly does not come under any criticism that isn’t applicable to every dating site available online. Some complaints have to do with people using the website for exploitative purposes – to ask for money, or to simply flirt with no intention to ever actually meet in real life.

Other complaints have to do with the policy of not providing any refunds or the fact that the website automatically renews your subscription unless you cancel your membership in writing, though both of these policies are essentially universal to all dating websites.

So while it is very easy to find complaints and negative reviews for this company, this does not necessarily mean that this a bad dating website – these are pitfalls of most dating sites. It’s up to members to be proactive on taking charge of their accounts.

Competitors and Alternatives?

There are many, many other dating websites – almost too many websites to count. Some are specific to race, ethnicity, or religion, like BlackPeopleMeet.com, ChristianMingle.com, CatholicMatch, and others are specific to lifestyle, like SingleParentMeet.com, or age, like OurTime.com. There are so many different online dating sites, that people may benefit from the article, How to Find the Right Online Dating Site

Yes, that's true. It's a scam operation. At the base level, they charged $11.99 to get 40 app-Coins. Each text msg to a girl you're interested in...costs 5 Coins. So, $12 bucks just to send 8 msgs. I spent $70 bucks trying to explain to the girl that this was a rip off
