StudySoup is a website that aims to help college students have a reliable place where they can find the high quality study materials they need to be successful.

How Does StudySoup Work?

According to their website, the peer-to-peer learning marketplace was launched in 2014 with the goal of helping students be successful in their studies with the help of other students in their same classes.

The creators of StudySoup said that they learned in college that there wasn’t always a single, clear-cut way to be successful in every class.

Professors had different teaching styles, different approaches to homework and projects, and used a wide variety of textbooks and materials. By the time of midterms, most students were overwhelmed and didn’t know what they should be studying.

But the truth is that there are always a handful of students who know exactly what they are doing and manage to successfully prepare for the test every time.

StudySoup wanted to give these successful students a way to help out their classmates, simply by sharing their own personal class notes.

Elite Notetakers (successful students) are able to upload their class notes and be paid for sharing them with their classmates. Other students are able to sign up for this service and get access to all class notes which may help them with their own personal studying.

Cost/Price Plans

Currently this company offers three different subscription plans for their customers. The first is their month-to-month subscription which is $32.81 every 30 days and which they describe as being the best plan for customers who are new to their service.

Their Platinum Subscription is intended to last a full school semester and is priced at $133.87, while their third plan is the Presidential Subscription that is also priced at $133.87 and provides members with six months' free.

Elite Notetakers are told that they can earn hundreds of dollars for providing their notes to their classmates, but it is important to note that they are only paid a small amount for actually uploading their notes – the more Notetakers share their notes with their classmates and the more their notes are actually downloaded by members, the more they are actually paid.

Refund Policy says that because all their subscriptions are paid in full at the time of enrollment, customers are welcome to cancel their subscription at any time but they will not be eligible for a refund.

Instead, their subscription will stay active until the end of the subscription period, at which time it will end and customers will not be automatically re-enrolled.

Their website does say that they offer a Satisfaction Guarantee which says that if you are not satisfied with your subscription within the first three business days of your enrollment, you can contact them for a refund and their website says that your request “will be reviewed.”

They also say that customers who are experiencing “special circumstances” are welcome to email their Customer Service team to make their case for a refund request, but they do say that refunds will never be provided more than 30 days after the initial purchase date, regardless of the activity or inactivity on the site.

Customer Service Contact Info

Customers who would like to contact Customer Service with any questions, concerns, or complaints can do so by phone at 510-254-6575, by email at [email protected], or by submitting them directly to their website through their Contact Us link.

Oddly enough, the most reviews to be found for is actually for their Elite Notetaker earning opportunity – there are quite a few websites promoting this opportunity as a great way for college students to make extra money.

This is especially true if they are so hard at work and dedicated to their studies that it might be difficult for them to take a more traditional job.

That being said, it does appear that StudySoup has positive reviews for being both a money earning opportunity and a study tool for college students.

It is important to know that this is not a service where other people will complete your course work for you, which is obviously an unethical practice for which students can be expelled from their university.

It's simply a website where students will be able to get notes from classmates.

Competitors and Alternatives?

There are many other study materials websites available online, as well as basic tools like Facebook or classroom forums in which classmates are work with one another directly.

Complete scam (Stick with Chegg)
March 10, 2022

StudySoup is terrible. They say they have a free trial but when you put in credit card info they charge you 118 dollars. On top of that they don't even give you what answer you want. Complete scam of a company I have contacted them with no response and will go to bank to dispute transaction because this is clearly fraudulent.

Do not purchase from here, the same documents are listed on Chegg and coursehero. I tried contacting customer service for a refund and have only had 2 contacts respond in the same manner. Basically from their responses and several employee reviews that i have read, its looks as if the company is based upon its own profit. I understand all businesses have their own policies however having an extremely limited email source for customer complaints does not qualify as actual customer service. There is no number for me to speak to anyone in person. I have only been given the stated return policy listed on their website and 'encouraged' to utilize the subscription. I think that they just list the 'contact us' portion on their website to make it seem as if they are legitimate.

Studysoup is a scam and they have nothing deserve their subscription fees.

Notes are very bad quality, it is not even called a product, it is a mess to be sold.

Mgmt and staff should be fired, unprofessional and doesn't deserve a Penny.

I’m got a subscription. Download 1 thing for my class, did not even pertain to my class. Canceled subscription within 2 hours of ordering. Contacted company and they said they would cancel. They still billed me and are very hard to deal with. You can’t call them and contacting them through text is a joke. They use canned responses and is probably just a chat bot answering your concerns. Do not purchase this product thy are total scammers

are there any alternative emails or contact information that you would recommend for using as contact, having the same experience and cannot get an actual person to refute any kind of complaint
