About SmileBox

SmileBox is a new software download that allows people to take their pictures and personalize them into a wide variety of animated videos and designs and then share them with family and friends.

How Does It Work?

Unlike other photo design websites which keep and store your images in the cloud, SmileBox is downloadable software which keeps and stores your images on your computer.

Once you have downloaded the software you will either have access to a select few designs and options with the free account, or you can have unlimited access to all designs and options with their paid Premium account. This account includes the ability to design Invitations, Slideshows, Collages, Cards, and more, as well as the ability to choose from more than 2,000 songs and exclusive access to printable Party Decor.

Cost/Price Plans

There is a free account which allows members to take their designs and share them via email or Facebook, but users who want features beyond that must upgrade to a paid account. These fees are not listed in the SmileBox Terms and Conditions but have been reported by users as either $4.99 per month or $40 per year.

Refund Policy

SmileBox.com says that all purchases of their products and services are completely non-refundable. Members are able to cancel their membership and uninstall the software at any time, but this will not result in a refund, but rather the cancelation of future charges.

Customer Service Contact Info

Customers who wish to contact their Customer Service team to discuss any questions, concerns, or complaints can do so by email at [email protected], or by traditional mail at 15809 Bear Creek Parkway, Suite 320, Redmond, WA 98052.

Reputation

Third party reviewers seemed to like the potential of the website and to give it positive reviews for all the things it allowed users to do with their pictures. Actual user reviews are difficult to find however, despite the flood of five star reviews which appear on review sites within a period of just a couple days. Review patterns of this sort are not always reliable, unfortunately, as they can be motivated by company marketing campaigns.

Competitors and Alternatives?

There are many different websites which offer users personalization options for their personal photos, including Shutterfly, SmugMug.com, Snapfish, ThisLife, and many more.

I paid for premium set up an invite but it wont send. the software is very clunky and not user friendly at all.
I would try elsewhere rather than use this package.
I have cancelled my subscription and written of the cost as a scam.

Unethical Company

May17, 2018

I signed up for a 7 day free trial for Smilebox to create a slideshow for Mothers day. I was not pleased with the functionality of the program, so I requested that they cancel my free trail. I contacted them on the 6th day of the free trail to cancel, in order to avoid having to pay the yearly fee of $47.88 The customer service individual then responded to me the next day (day 7; the day the free trial expired) and sent me confusing and convoluted instructions on how to cancel my subscription that did not allow me to actually cancel my subscription. I responded (4) times to the customer service individual telling him his instructions did not work and that he needed to either cancel the subscription on his end or call me to walk me through the process. I never received a response until days after they charged me for the yearly fee. Not only did Smilebox refuse to acknowledge my request to cancel my subscription to avoid having to pay the $47.88 yearly fee, they blatantly provided confusing instructions to ensure that my subscription did not get canceled during the free trail timeline so that they could charge me the yearly fee. They ended up crediting my account days down the road, but they are obviously using unethical tactics to make it very hard for people to cancel their free trials so they can charge the yearly fee of $47.88.

I am experiencing the same thing right now, and I suspected others may have had similar trouble.
