SkyBell describes itself as a tool that will let you "answer the doorbell with your smartphone" using their WiFi enabled video doorbell device which allows you to see and speak with visitors using your smartphone no matter where you may be.
How Does It Work?
SkyBell attaches any door front of your home or office that you wish and uses your WiFi signal to connect with your smartphone, after you have downloaded their free application to complete your setup process. This app can be downloaded on any mobile device you'd like to pair up with your SkyBell.
Once your system is set up, your smartphone will alert you whenever a visitor rings your doorbell. You can then see who is at your door and have the ability speak to them, no matter where you are at the time.
The app you must download to connect with the SkyBell is free, and they promise there will never be any fees to maintain this service. The only cost associated with this is the $199.00 fee for the device itself, with free shipping within the US.
SkyBell works with mobile devices that have major operating systems, however the software of your mobile devices will need to be updated to certain levels in order to work with their app. The website will have more specific information.
If you are unhappy with the SkyBell, you have 30 days from the time you purchase it to request a refund and 40 days to return it to ensure you receive your refund. Since I purchased my SkyBell these are the most important problems I have had:
- The SkyBell loses its connectivity to the wifi very often for no apparent reason. I have an excellent wifi signal that covers my entire house. All of my other smart devices work perfectly without any problem, except for the SkyBell. When I want to connect to the device, a message often says "try again later" or "live stream cannot be established". It makes the device absolutely unusable as a doorbell and unreliable as a security device.
- The SkyBell has an abnormally long connection time. When the device works, it takes at least 15 to 20 seconds for the camera to stream. Most of the time, I have to give up on the device and rush to the door to answer my visitors, who are already waiting and think I'm not home. When there's a warning, connecting to the live stream takes so long to establish the danger has often passed. There's also no guarantee to have both sound and video.
- The SkyBell has serious issues with its camera. I often don't get any alert on my phone while the mail person or UPS driver has just left packages at my door. Or, I get too many false alerts while it's clear nobody is around when I'm home and come to check myself. I attempted many times to adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensor but it doesn't make any difference.
- The SkyBell customer support experience is awful. The company shows no interest in solving problems. It's very hard to communicate with them. The "live chat" on their website is always offline. If I leave a message, it typically takes at least 24 hours before I get a reply. And, their reply always claims that the problem is with me: for example, my wifi signal, or my electrical connection or ? It's clear my SkyBell was defective from the beginning.
For all of these reason, I'm requesting a full refund of my purchase price.
I purchased a Skybell 2.0 bell from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, installed and started to test functionality. Call there one and only number (tech support) and was told that the current firmware update caused extremely bad audio and video issue. So they then offered up a Skybell HD for $40.00 off and said they would ship the next day. It is now Friday and guess what.... I called the customer number for tech support and was not provided any order information nor could they forward me to the sales department to find out the issue with the order. The guy on the phone was not to bright and went through a rant about the he's only "tech support" and he could not forward me to anyone period. This is the most disjointed business and product support I have even seen in my life. Put you money on the "Ring" or just go back to your old school door bell. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST... THEY HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CUSTOMER SUPPORT OR THERE POS PRODUCT.........
Company is a scam I think. Product ordered and never received. They kept saying product would arrive but it never did. There is no way to speak with a human. everything is via email and there is at least a 3 day delay between messages. I can't even imagine what support would be like if you can't get someone to sell the product to you what chance do you have after the fact! I'd give less stars if possible.
Had to wait more than 6 months. Had to pay an additional fee when it finally arrived. After installing the device turned out to be very unstable; most of the time it doesn't make any connection to my router which means nog signal at all when somebody rings your doorbell. this piece of crap ended in the lower drawer of an old closed in the attic. Returning it from The Netherlands to the Us was simply too expensive.
Ordered the skybell in the beginning of August and still haven't recieved it. 4 emails and no replies, and on checking my order status all it reports is zero back orders.
Don't not buy this item or any other item from this scam company.
If I knew how how report this company to the authorities I would. Unfortunately I'm in the UK and don't know which US department to contact.

Fed up of waiting for delivery and fed up of waiting for a response from skybell, very poor customer service, hoping I can cancel and get a refund, 8 weeks I have been waiting and nothing at all in response to many emails.
Due to an ecommerce issue on their end we ended up paying 2 Skybells. Iwe tried to contact them but no answer. They ended up by sending both of them of which we refused one. They would solve the problem but send the second one months later through a Polish firm. As we didn't know what it was and we receive several packages we accepted and noticed a skybell inside.
The device can't be synched with so we are stuck with 2 Skybells that don't work.
Customer Service is not taking it into hands and are no longer responding.
DO NOT BY THIS! THEY SHOULD BE REPORTED TO THE AUTHORITIES!
Gave one star but would give -1 if possible. Paid for bell, waited through delays for delivery, paid an electrician to install and it doesn't work! Contacted support several times and now they won't respond. They blame my wifi but I can have a skype conversation on the same wifi in my backyard with half the bars I have at my door. It has NEVER worked properly.
