SharkStopper.com is the online home of the SharkStopper Personal Shark Repellant device, described as currently being the world's first and only shark repellant device that uses acoustic sound and technology.
How Does It Work?
According to the website, sharks hear or experience sounds ranging in frequency from 10Hz to 1KHz, and are especially sensitive to sounds 500Hz or lower. Using field testing, a frequency range and modulation was discovered that was effective against many species of sharks that include, but are not limited to: great white, bull, tiger, hammerhead, black tip, lemon, nurse, sand and Caribbean reef sharks.
The current device is intended for swimmers, surfers, snorkelers, and other open water activity enthusiasts and is approved for depths up to 12 feet. They are working on a commercial device which will hopefully be approved for use by fishing boats to repel sharks and prevent them from being unnecessarily hurt by getting caught or tangled in fishing nets. These commercial devices will also hopefully be approved for major swimming areas where sharks are known to encroach on people.
Customers who choose to donate $225 or more to their Kickstarter campaign will receive a SharkStopper Personal Shark Repellant Device for over 50% of what the estimated retail price will be, once it is available on the open market.

Competitors and Alternatives?
There are some other shark repellant devices on the market, but none that employ sound as their method of repellent. Just some that claim to use electrical energy waves and others which claim to have a chemical base and are for professional use instead of individual use.
