The Nutlock, a new product soon to be available at Nutlock.com, describes itself as "a beautifully designed bike lock that protects your bike wheels from getting stolen," a problem which affects more than one million people each year.
How Does It Work?
Bikes generally use a very standardized fastening system composed of either hex nuts or quick release skewers to attach the wheels directly to the bike frame. Unfortunately, there are many standard tools out there which can be used by thieves to detach the wheels from your bike, allowing them to either bypass certain bike locks and steal your bike, or at the least to steal the wheels themselves.
The Nutlock system replaces these standard fastening systems and replaces it with custom engineered fasteners that can only be removed with the special key included in your package.
There are many different variations of their custom fasteners, and they are packaged randomly, which makes it purposefully difficult for a thief to get their hands on all the Nutlock keys.
Customers who chose to donate at least $25 to their Kickstarter campaign were able to receive a Nutlock at what is likely the lowest price it will be offered. Their Kickstarter page mentions March of 2015 as the earliest possible delivery date of this product.
Since this product is not yet available for regular purchase on the open market, there is also no Refund Policy which has been published or detailed at this time.
Customer Service Contact Info
Customers who would like to speak to their Customer Service team about their questions, concerns, or complaints can do so by going to their Kickstarter page and using the link at the bottom of their project information which says "Ask a Question."
Since this product is not yet available for purchase, there are not really any customer reviews available at this time, though there are some blogs and websites that are expressing excitement about its potential.
Competitors and Alternatives?
The bike security industry is incredibly popular, and there is a wide range of products available on the market that promise to protect your bike better than standard bike locks, including the Noke Bluetooth Padlock.
