How Does It Work?
According to their website, most people are aware that housing in cities is too expensive for many people, while other people actually have more space than they really need. Nesterly’s goal is to make it easy for households that have extra rooms to connect with trusted people who are looking for medium-term housing and who have been vetted through their system.
To get started, Hosts and Guests are asked to create a Profile where they will post information about themselves and what they are looking for in a shared home. Guests can search through the available rooms and reach out to Hosts. Once a Guest and Host have made a match through the site, they will sign a Nesterly Homesharing Agreement and pay securely through the site.
Their website says that they understand the importance of both Guests and Hosts feeling safe, which is why all members to their service are vetted. They are asked to fill out a detailed application, go through identity and address verifications, provide reference checks, and will eventually be required to go through both credit and background checks.
Their website also says that their Guests have the option to provide help around the house in exchange for reduced rent, but this is not a condition of registering with their service.
Their website says that because their company was created in order to help alleviate the affordable housing crisis, their fees have been designed in order to be accessible while still ensuring that their company can provide people with high quality service and support.
To meet these goals, all members are invited to create their profile and search through their website completely for free for one full year. If, during that time, a successful Nesterly match is confirmed, the company will charge a one-time fee to both the Host and the Guest.
These fees will range between $95 and $195, depending on the length of stay. Then members will be charged a monthly service fee of 2% for the Host and Guest to facilitate automated rental payments and ongoing support throughout the length of their match.
Because membership of this company doesn’t require fees of any kind for the first year, it doesn’t appear that they offer their customers a Refund Policy at this time. If something has occurred that makes you believe you have justification for a refund, you will need to contact their Customer Service team and discuss it directly with them.
