About is a subscription based service to rent movies, TV episode series, and video games. This company operates only in the United Kingdom and its surrounding areas; they currently do not provide services to the United States.

Rental options include DVD's, Blu-ray’s, and video games for consoles including GameCube, PlayStation 2, PSP, Xbox and Xbox 360. Not only are movies and television series available on DVD but they can also be streamed through your PC, games console, tablet or Smart TV for instant access. There are different subscription options for members including the pay-as-you-go option if you don’t watch movies frequently.

A basic plan for streaming movies online costs £4.99, it does not include DVD's, Blu-Ray’s or games. The mail postage plan costs £5.99 for three movie rentals each month and does not include online streaming.

The “Have It All” package options include mail postage rentals and online streaming; the monthly rates are based on the number of rentals you wish to receive in each shipment throughout the month. To receive 1 rental each time, it costs £7.99/month, for 2 rentals each time it costs £9.99/month, and to receive three rentals each time it costs £13.27/month. For gamers, the “Have It All plus Games” costs £11.22/month for 2 rentals sent out at a time and £14.99/month for 3 rentals sent out each time.

If you don’t want to sign up for a subscription then you can buy rental credits in batches of 3 or 6; one credit equals one rental. If you wish to sign up for “Auto-top-up”, they will set up your account to automatically renew your bundle of credits when the prior runs out.

If you are not satisfied with their service, their money back guarantee is only available for a short time. In general, you may cancel your account at any time, but they must have all of their items back in stock for the cancellation request to be processed.

The mail order “Post” process using your online account is simple; first find the title you want then click on the “rent” button and it will be added to your personal list. The DVD at the top of your prioritized rental list is mailed out and includes a prepaid return envelope inside. There are no late fees, so you can keep rentals for as long as you wish.

When comparing LOVEFiLM to Netflix, you will find some differences. LOVEFiLM has a broader selection of films and rents out video games whereas Netflix has a larger selection of TV Series and does not offer video game rentals. LOVEFiLM is better than Netflix for online streaming because it requires a smaller amount of bandwidth. Another difference is the plan options available from each service. Netflix offers one simple monthly package rate for $7.99 while LOVEFiLM offers a range of rental plans.

Even though there is a 30 day free trial, customer reviews online told another story. These new customers were charged the monthly subscription fee immediately after signing up for the trial. LOVEFiLM’s sales representatives have also been the subject of many negative online reviews because they don’t accurately communicate the terms and conditions of the service during their sales pitch; they leave out portions of information which are important to customers.

With the endless advances in technology, physically renting a movie at a video store is now part of the past. Receiving movies in the mail and being able to stream them through the internet offers consumers both the convenience and affordability they are looking for. Depending on how often you watch movies, where you live and how you want to watch a movie are the questions you must ask yourself before choosing a movie rental subscription service to join.
