About Liberty University Christian College

Liberty University Christian College, found online at, says they are “the largest private, nonprofit university in the nation, the largest university in Virginia, and the largest Christian university in the world.”

How Does It Work?

According to their website, Liberty University Christian College was established in 1971 with the goal of developing Christ-centered men and women that have both the skills and knowledge but also the values to impact tomorrow’s world. The website says that they are have always been committed to “Training Champions for Christ.”

To help their students continue their dedication to Christ and faith throughout their time at Liberty University, they offer weekly worship services and community projects, as well as giving both residential and online students “opportunities to grow in their faith.” Regardless of what opportunities you choose to take advantage of, the website says that they believe the spiritual growth of their students is essential.

At this time, people who are interested in potentially becoming a student at one of their campuses or through their online distance education programs have access to more than 450 different options that range from certificates to doctoral level programs, 250 of which are online degrees of all levels available in specializations like business, criminal justice, education, nursing, and more.

Cost/Price Plans

This website publishes examples of what each credit hour will cost depending on the type of program you are pursuing, from undergraduate to doctoral. For a more accurate understanding of what your expenses may be, the website does offer their Net Price Calculator.

This calculator will take into your personal information and circumstances to see what kind of financial aid opportunities you may qualify for and what additional expenses you may need to take into consideration, like housing costs. If you are unsure of what information or circumstances best describe your situation, you can also contact a University Representative.

Refund Policy

Colleges and universities don't really publish Refund Policies. Instead, they have withdrawal policies which will give you time periods during which you can withdraw from your classes and receive a refund of the fees you've been charged so far.

Customer Service Contact Info

This website does publish a long list of email addresses and phone numbers depending on your specific issue or question, all of which can be found on their website. They also offer some general contact information, including their switchboard phone number as 434-582-2000 and an email address for general admissions as [email protected]

As with most other institutions of higher learning, there are mixed reviews of this university, with some students reporting high levels of satisfaction with everything from the quality of their classes, to the extracurricular opportunities, and the cost of their programs.

There are some complaints from students, many of whom felt that this school really didn’t provide high levels of guidance and assistance for their online students, instead focusing more of their resources on students who physically attended one of their campuses.

In addition, they have come under fire from famous critics like Bill Maher, who have taken issue with an institution of higher learning teaching controversial topics like creation science, though the school has defended itself by saying it offers traditional science courses as well as theologically based science courses.

Competitors and Alternatives?

There are many colleges and universities that offer access to online education degrees and programs that you may be interested in, like Rasmussen College, Remington College, New England College Online, and many more.
