Key Bank Reviews
About Key Bank
Key Bank is a United States financial institution headquartered in the state of Ohio that operates 1,000 branches in 13 different states across the country, and provides business operations in more than 31 states.
How Does It Work?
As of 2013, Key Bank was considered one of the top 30 banks operating within the United States, based on rankings which included not only their total deposits, but also their total assets, and they currently offer services for retailers, small businesses, corporations, and investment clients.
Key Bank is known for how well it survived the recession of the early 1990s, having the capital at that time to purchase many branches of their competitors who were hard hit, and giving them the ability to expand outside of the Midwest.
The bank has continued expanding throughout the years, through various partnerships and mergers, as well as taking advantage of the government TARP funds made available to banks in 2008, which Key Bank used to grow even larger before eventually repaying the loan.
As with any financial institution, the concept of costs and prices is one that is very complicated, as it will vary widely depending on the type of financial action or transaction you are making, as well as a variety of other factors, like your credit score, state of residence, amount of assets being held at the bank, and many, many others.
Customers who considering opening checking and savings accounts with this bank, taking out a student or home loan, or using their investment services will all be best served by contacting the bank directly and providing them with your personal information in order to get the most accurate cost estimate available.
Very similar to the question of associated costs and prices, there is no one set Refund, Cancellation, or Guarantee Policy. Customers will need to speak a bank representative about what recourse or policies are available to them to protect their interests when doing business with this particular bank.

Unfortunately it seems that Key Bank certainly suffers from some very vocally unhappy customers who have detailed their poor experiences with this bank in a variety of places online, even though this bank appears to receive decent reviews from financial publications that offer reviews of major banks.
It seems that the most common complaint from people who have dealt with this bank was the lack of good customer service, with multiple reviews of this bank detailing the terrible assistance – or lack of assistance – they received, with more than customer saying that they were told that if they were unhappy they should simply go to a different bank.
Key Bank has also been criticized for their unclear student loan policies, due to an incident where the bank held the parents of a student responsible for repaying students loans after the tragic death of the student made it impossible for him to repay the loans.
Key Bank did eventually release the parents from repaying the loans and has stated that they are working on clarifying their student loan policies for future borrowers.
Competitors and Alternatives?
Certainly the United States has no shortage of major financial institutions which give people the ability to maintain checking and savings accounts, receive mortgage loans, or student loans. People should look for banks and institutions which operate in their state of residence or who specialize in the areas they need.
