Java Burn
( 1 reviews )

Java Burn is a supplement that you combine with a cup of coffee to increase how fast and efficiently your metabolism works.

It's also claimed to boost energy, health, and general well-being. It is 100% all natural, vegetarian, non-GMO, and gluten-free.

Product and Ingredients

Java Burn claims that the following ingredients in their proprietary formula, when combined with coffee, can improve your metabolism.

L-Carnitine - is an amino acid. Your body makes sufficient l-carnitine on its own, although some people do have a carnitine deficiency. Your body uses l-carnitine to help process fat into energy.

It also plays a role in removing toxins from your cells. Given these attributes, it would make sense that l-carnitine would give you energy and help you lose weight, but actually studies have not yielded conclusive results on this supplement.

L-Theanine - is an amino acid that is found in tea and in some mushrooms.

There is a good deal of anecdotal evidence that l-theanine helps with anxiety and stress, but there isn’t enough scientific data to support this claim. L-theanine is often paired with caffeine in supplements for it’s reported abilities to lessen the negative effects of caffeine.

Chromium - is a mineral and a trace element, meaning that your body only requires a small amount to function. Chromium shows promise as a treatment to lower blood sugar, but more scientific data is needed.

Chlorogenic Acid -  is found in green coffee. The coffee that we drink has little Chlorogenic Acid because the roasting process destroys a good deal of this compound. Chlorogenic Acid may lessen the amount of carbohydrates that your body absorbs, but more scientific data is needed.

Green coffee has been popular in weight loss/fat-burning supplements, and indeed it does show promise in that area, but there is not enough scientific data to support these claims.

Green Tea Extract - has been reported to be effective on cancer and high cholesterol, claims which shows much promise according to clinical research. Although green tea is promising as a weight loss supplement, more research needs to be done to determine if this is accurate.

Like other tea, it does contain caffeine, which means it will likely give you some temporary energy.

EGCG - is actually a compound found in green tea extract, so it isn’t clear why this is listed as a separate ingredient.  ECGC is a type of flavonoid that is thought to have anti-inflammatory properties, aid in weight loss, prevent heart disease, and contribute to overall health.

EGCG is promising as a weight loss supplement, but only when used in combination with caffeine.

Vitamin B6 - is important to the functioning of the immune and nervous systems and for normal brain development. Scientific research has shown B6 to be effective for conditions such as morning sickness, premenstrual syndrome (PMS), and sideroblastic anemia.

Potential Side Effects

L-carnitine  - can cause a number of side effects, including heartburn, diarrhea, and seizures. It can also give your sweat, urine, and breath a “fishy” sort of odor. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding should avoid this supplement.

If you have an underactive thyroid or suffer seizures, you should not take l-carnitine as it may exacerbate these conditions. If you take medication that helps clot your blood, you should avoid taking l-carnitine. You should also avoid taking l-carnitine if you take blood thinning medications like warfarin.

Chromium - Do not take chromium if you take insulin or other medications to lower blood sugar or take Synthroid for thyroid issues. You should also avoid chromium if you regularly take NSAIDS, such as ibuprofen, aspirin, and naproxen.

Green Tea Extract - can cause nausea, dizziness, upset stomach, diarrhea, headache, rapid heartbeat, nervousness, insomnia, seizures, and restlessness. Do not take green tea extract if you take migraine or headache medicine that contains caffeine.

Don’t take green tea extract if you have liver problems or take medications like statins or high dose acetaminophen that can cause damage to your liver.

Be cautious about drinking caffeinated beverages if you are taking green tea extract as this may intensify the experience. Green tea extract can interfere with certain medical tests, such as stress tests and certain urine tests.

Chlorogenic Acid - may cause diarrhea, nausea, dizziness, and headaches.

Vitamin B6 - Taking too much Vitamin B6 can result in loss of muscle control or movement, skin lesions, heartburn, nausea, sensitivity to sunlight, reduced ability to sense pain, and numbness.

Do not take vitamin B6 if you take the chemotherapy drug altretamine, barbiturates, anti-seizure medication, or Levodopa.

The Bottom Line

The ingredients show some promise as a means to give you energy and burn fat, but there isn’t one ingredient in Java Burn (with the exception of B6) that has been laboratory tested and proved to be effective.

Red Flags and Warnings

There are a few red flags that make us think twice about this product.  If you do an online search for Java Burn, the results are flooded with affiliate websites promoting the product.

These types of “advertorials” are often used by marketers to crowd out any honest feedback about products and simply push people to buy now instead of doing their due diligence.

Further, the lack of a published company address or phone number is another concern.  If you do some digging on their website, they state that “The Website is created and controlled by JavaBurn in the country of Costa Rica.”

Finally, the promotional video for Java Burn makes some rather extreme claims. Mainly insinuating that you don’t need to change your lifestyle to lose weight, you can just simply add  Java Burn to your coffee...When in reality, exercise and a healthy diet are the only surefire ways of achieving your health goals.

Overall, it’s not terribly expensive, but it’s not cheap either - so if you want to take a gamble on this one, trying it for one month isn’t the worst idea. Although, carefully take into account the aforementioned warnings.

Scam and terrible customer service
June 1, 2022

I bought six months worth of Java burn and what I did was burn my money. I followed the directions and took it faithfully for about six weeks with absolutely no effects. I continue to take it and also wrote the company and told them I had no results. I specifically did not ask for a refund nor did they volunteer one but rather insisted that I continue to take the supplement and if I’m happy they would refund me in 60 more days.

Well time got away from me and I was passed my 60 days so when I wrote and told them I wanted the refund I was probably and very curtly denied. I went several rounds of emails with them stating that they could see I was unhappy and telling me to continue to take the product when it was doing me no good and I feel they also knew that was true and then denied my refund. I pursued and told them that was very bad customer service and they should try to make their customers happy.

But it didn’t take me long to realize this is a bogus product and yes it is high priced and they are just looking to get your money and don’t really care if you’re satisfied or not I would consider buying the product again. They know it doesn’t work in my estimation and just want to find as many suckers as possible to send them their hard-earned money. Don’t trust them!! There is no place to post a review on their website.
