About InstantCheckMate.com

InstantCheckMate.com is an internet-based people search program used to discover detailed information on anyone. It provides criminal history, phone numbers, addresses and much more.

The data is compiled from a number of different public record sources. They use national state and local criminal databases as well as a sex offender database to provide you the criminal background of anyone as well as the area in which you have designated to search.

There are three different memberships available through InstantCheckMate.com; all of them come with an unlimited number of people search/background checks. It costs $89.00 for a 6-month membership, $59.00 for a 3-month membership and $24.00 for a one-month membership. Each membership is billed upfront and will automatically y renew at the end of the plan unless you cancel it. They also offer a 5-day trial for $1.00 to try the service. The only way to become a member is to sign up online.

If anyone wishes to opt-out of the database, which essentially removes your personal information from their website, there are two options to do so. For an expedited opt-out it costs $4.95 and this method removes your information from the system within 48 hours. If you decide to use the standard opt-out, it is free; it takes approximately 2-4 weeks to process this request.

As with any people search databases available on the web comes inaccuracies, misspellings, and out of date information. Although they all claim to have current records, many of them do not. The public records in which they use to gather data are not always accurate, so they couldn’t possibly have accurate information if that is where they obtain data

There have been numerous complaints on the web about this business and its unethical practices.

Some of the people who have used Instant Checkmate requested reports which were returned with very little information included within the report details. Some of the reports came back empty and others had details on the wrong person altogether.

Most of the complaints, however, addressed unauthorized credit card charges; members have tried to cancel their membership and could not get a hold anyone to process the cancellation.

Some individuals attempted to cancel prior to the end of the 5 day trial and others tried to cancel at the start of the membership. In the end, these members were charged the full membership amount and then were charged again when the auto-renewal system kicked in.

The worse cases are individuals who have searched for their own report and were returned with completely incorrect information which included false criminal charges and arrests. This could potentially have a negative impact on someone’s future if they are unaware of such information within these reports.

InstantCheckMate.com has many red flags and should be approached with caution.

Rip-off

March12, 2013

I signed up for this service prior to ck'g reviews on it, bad idea. It provided no new information, but plenty of incorrect information.

Wrong current address - person has lived at current addr for 10+ yrs
No marriage or divorce info, when there have been several
Incorrect relatives
Missing bankruptcy info

Only thing they had right was the name, which I gave them, and the DoB! Everything else was wrong, missing or incomplete.

Fraud

March9, 2013

I tried to cancel my membership 20 minutes after joining.
The info in the report was 1) not available &
2) untrue
I was told that I could get a full refund but a person, named Matthew, refused to do that.
He also refused to give his last name & the last name of his supervisor, Shana.
I have reported them to the BBB as well as the MD attorney general's office, department of consumer fraud.

March7, 2013

I paid for a ONE MONTH use and then it decided to be a recurrent charge and stole an extra 22 dollars from me. The records are inaccurate and when I called customer service they were extremely rude. Disgusting waste of money

Conned!!

March5, 2013

Unfortunately, I didn't read the reviews until it's late.

Signed up for the 1 month membership and the data received was absolutely inaccurate - how is it possible for a man born in 1971 to have married over 30 women starting from 1973 at the age of 2!!!???

Hopefully, I will be able to cancel my membership without too much hassle,

InstantCheckMate.com Scam

October31, 2012

InstantCheckMate.com Scam people to check their records stating they have a criminal record, they just take information from public records and force people to pay to see what info they have along with indecating they have a criminal record when they do not. This is missleading and they should be closed down for fraud

This service is a scam. It advertises details. If you want to trial it, they offer a 5-day unlimited use for $1.00.

The arrest records have no details. Many have arrest codes which you have to do further research (on other sites) to determine what they mean.

Unfortunately, to even try the service requires you give them billing info. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. The terms are that you must notify them before end of the trial period that you don't want the service. They make it look like you are just paying for a trial period, but in fact you are signing up for monthly service if you don't contact them to terminate. Part of signing up is providing an email, but they do not send email notifications.

Reputable companies will contact the customer to make sure they are happy with the service and want to continue. In most cases, they use the feedback to improve their service.

THIS IS A SCAM SERVICE AND YOU WILL NOT GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR - DO NOT USE

This is a scam. DO NOT USE!

They offer a 5 day trial for $1.00, but they will charge you about $25.00 / month unless you cancel. HOWEVER, you can't cancel. the only way to cancel is by phone, and they don't answer the phone. There is no way to talk to anyone to cancel your membership or get any kind of help.

I was not able to get any useful information or get any help.

Don't wast your time or money.

As Silvia stated above, thanks for all the warnings! I had a bad feeling at check out time. When I tried to just go to another website, a big "announcement" came back inviting me to join for just "one dollar" for the first month. Hmm, the price went from around $23 to just $1 when I changed my mind. I really felt uncomfortable and didn't "take the bait". As the old saying goes, if it seems too good to be true, it probably isn't.

Had many of the same feelings about this service before i signed on #1 I do not like giving my Credit card number on line knowing of all the scams that present themselves on the internet who knows what they are able to do , or what they will do with the information you give them and they require from you in order to access their service! of which you know nothing about that is why I looked these reviews up first. Maybe if our law enforcement community would take the time to investigate these scams and shut them down or bust them we would not have so many of them. but their to busy running their own scams on the public due to budget restraints. Ya right! Bill G.

They billed my credit card after offering to give a 5 day trail for one dollar then claim that you have to call cancel the service, as it was on their website, but you have to pay again to see it. It's a scam avoid it at all costs.

Do not give this company your credit card number. You will be sorry!! They do not provide any information (even the 'PREMIUM' package) that is not available FREE on many other sights.

I want my $35 back!!!
