Indiegogo, found online at Indiegogo.com, is a new crowdfunding website where people can go to receive investments towards projects they are interested in getting off the ground.
Their website says that their goal is to empower people to "activate the global community to make ideas happen."
How Does It Work?
All you have to do to get started is go to their website and choose the type of campaign you would like to launch, one with Flexible Funding or Fixed Funding. Flexible Funding allows you to keep the money you raise, even if you do not hit your targeted goal, though you will be charged higher fees. Fixed Funding campaigns charge lower fees, but if you do not reach your goal all the money will be refunded to your donors.
Once you've chosen the type of campaign you want to launch, you can launch it in just a few minutes using their Campaign Editor, which will walk you through the whole process.
Launching the actual campaign is completely free. Indiegogo does take fees from the money you have raised; Fixed Funding campaigners will pay 4% from their total funding if they reach their goal, and 0% if they do not reach the goal and their funds have to be returned. Flexible Funding campaigners will pay 4% from their total funding if they reach their goal, and 9% if they do not.
As Indiegogo does not charge campaigners any up front fees to launch campaigns with their website, they also do not have a Refund Policy.
