Gett Taxi Reviews
About Gett Taxi
Gett Taxi, found online at Gett.com, is a new mobile application and service that says they are the number one ride finding application in Europe and they have recently become available in the United States.
How Does It Work?
According to their website, Gett Taxi is changing how people move around their cities because they are a ridesharing app that works on a simple idea – if you treat drivers better, they will treat riders better.
So their company commitment begins with their drives. Their website promises drivers a “more kind, transparent, and fair service” with 25% higher pay than other services, in-app tipping, and 24 hour, 7 day a week support. They say that this approach to keeping their drivers happy has resulted in them having the best rated drivers in the industry.
In addition, their website sites that they are the fastest growing ridesharing company in New York City, and they are on track to become the second largest ridesharing company in that market.
Currently this mobile application is available for iOS and Android smartphones and devices.
Downloading this app is free of charge and Gett Taxi is very proud to offer their Manhattan customers the ability to get rides for a flat $10 rate in certain areas of the city and they also promise to never participate in surge pricing.
Surge pricing is used by other ride finding apps during times when the demand for drivers is very high and the app automatically increases all the prices customers will pay to use the service. Gett Taxi does not use surge pricing and their company claims they never will.
This company offers their customers a clear explanation of their Cancellation Policies, saying that you are welcome to cancel your order without incurring any charges within five minutes of the time that the driver is assigned.
You will unfortunately receive a cancellation fee if you cancel more than five minutes after the driver has been assigned, if you cancel after the driver has already arrived, or if you fail to cancel and simply do not show up for your ride more than three minutes after the driver has arrived.
If you have scheduled a future booking, cancellations made within 40 minutes of the provided pick time will be charged a fee. All cancellation fees are $5 for Deal & Standard and $10 for Premium & SUV.
Their website does say, however, that if your drive is running more than 5 minutes behind the provided estimated time of arrival and you cancel the ride you will not be charged a cancellation fee.
Customer Service Contact Info
Customers who would like to contact Customer Service with any questions, concerns, or complaints can do so by email at [email protected]; residents of other cities will need to find contact information specific to their city.
This company appears to get really good reviews on the mobile app stores like iTunes and Google Play, which is a good sign that their customers are happy and satisfied with their service.
That being said, a review published in Business Insider points out an important difference in how this company operates versus many of their competitors, and it has to do with Gett’s promise to never participate in surge pricing.
The reality is that surge pricing exists because the demand for drivers is so high and raising the pay for drivers is what gets more drivers out of their houses and on the road to meet the needs of customers.
Without surge pricing, the reality is that when the demand for taxis gets high, the Gett Taxi app is not really effective anymore. The drivers are able to find enough fares standing on the side of the road that there is no need for them to respond to a Gett call to a specific location. This means that when you need them “the most,” there’s a good chance they won’t be around.
But the reality is that many people use more than ride finding app, so if you were interested in adding Gett to your portfolio, you should feel comfortable doing so.
Competitors and Alternatives?
As mentioned above, there are many different options for people in big city who want mobile applications that will help them find easy ways to get around, including the most popular options like Uber, Lift, Hailo, and others depending on where you live.
