GearEye is a product featured on GearEye.co.com that is being called “the ultimate gear management system” and is a way to conveniently organize and track all your gear when you are out on the go.
How Does It Work?
According to their website, the creator of GearEye was tired of losing track of his photography equipment when he was out on the job, and knew that not only was he losing the time and effort of looking for the equipment, but also the money when he had to replace the equipment. He knew there had to be a better way, so he set out to create one.
GearEye works in a way that is simple and easy for customers to adapt to their own needs. First you will have the GearEye itself, which helps you both organize your gear into gig specific groups so you know you’ll have what you need, when you need it. You then have the GearTags, which are small and easily affixed to all your pieces.
The GearTags themselves use tiny and inexpensive RFID tags to track your gear, and this is an important difference from other products which are Bluetooth enabled because it means that the tags are battery free. This means that you’ll never lose track of a piece of gear just because you forgot to charge its tag.
GearEye is not actually yet available on the open market for sale. Instead they are still being sold through their Kickstarter campaign page, where for $129 you can get a GearEye Standard Pack, which includes a dongle or case GearEye and twenty GearTags. At this time, the estimated delivery date will be July 2017, though this is subject to change in the future.
Unfortunately because this company does not yet have their products for sale on the open market, there is not an available published Refund Policy. Customers who are curious about whether or not there is an option to receive a refund of their campaign contribution will need to speak to their Customer Service team.
Customer Service Contact Info
Customers who wish to contact Customer Service with questions, concerns, or complaints can do so by clicking the Ask a Question which is located at the bottom of the Kickstarter campaign page.
Though this device is not yet available on the open market, it appears to have many positive and enthusiastic reviews on different photography based websites, all from professionals who are excited to be able to apply new technology to help their business be more organized and efficient.
Competitors and Alternatives?
As mentioned above, there are many other products which promise to keep track of various items, but these devices are often Bluetooth enabled which makes the individual pieces of tracking equipment significantly more expensive and not necessarily the best choice when you must keep track of many different items. That being said, if you are looking for alternatives to this product, there are others available.

Scam, no question. 5 years later, no product and no refund, just excuses and promises. I'll never back anything on kickstarter ever again.
