Course Hero Reviews
About Course Hero
Students are often reluctant to ask their teacher for clarification of class material. There are some teachers who don’t make themselves available for help outside of the classroom. Course Hero is a website that offers help to students spanning over an array of subjects, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
On Course Hero there is an array of information to search through. There is general information on hundreds of school subjects as well as a collection of college course documents. This collection of documents includes class notes, syllabi, study guides, practice quizzes, flashcards and much more. It is even possible that you will be able to locate materials from the course at the school you are attending.
CourseHero.com also offers full course lessons in a variety of subjects. While some of these courses have been developed by its members, there are others which have been submitted by college professors.
There are two memberships for Course Hero. The first option is a free membership which is limited to the flashcards and the tutor help desk. However, payment is required when using the tutor help desk. Students determine the price they are willing to pay for an answer to a question. As soon as the question is replied to, the payment transaction is completed.
The premier paid membership gives members full access to all of the platforms on the site including flashcards, documents, and are even granted $100.00 of credits for the tutor help desk. Each submitted question or reply back to a tutor will deduct $5.00 in credits. The cost for one year of the premier membership is $95.40. They also offer a three month package for $59.85 or a one month subscription for $39.95.
Since so many students are tight on cash, Course Hero created an exchange program; they will give you a month of their premier membership in exchange for documents. After uploading 40 course documents, all of which have to be approved by their team, you will be awarded with one free month of complete access to the site.
Professors who discovered their course materials could be accessed through CourseHero were very upset. Besides the fact that they hadn’t approved it, they felt that they were being exploited because the company was making money off of the materials they created and the time it took to do so.
These professors also believe that the site was taking away from the overall learning process. Not only were their students not learning the material but they were also being deprived of the intrinsic rewards that accompany a successful learning experience.
Students who used the tutor help desk were disappointed with the tutors’ lack of effort and ability to provide them with a response in a timely manner. Not only did the tutors barely meet the deadline, but they also did not provide valid answers. Some of them even responded with a question instead of an answer.
Overall, online reviews displayed negative feedback on the services provided by Course Hero. If you are paying for an education it is probably best just to do the work yourself or join a study group.

I worked as a tutor on coursehero. Since my subjects are actually my passion, in a very short time I answered a lot many questions. All of a sudden one day a mail came saying I received violation. The reason they gave was totally a bu***it. Then my account was blocked.
The system here is, student pay and post the question. When I answer the question, I get just 35% of what student paid. And that also I get after 14 days.
So likewise for 14 days before my account got blocked I answered almost 150 questions for which I was about to get around $250. All that money they stole.
Whatever be the fu***ng reason for deactivation, at least they should pay whatever earned before that point.
This behaviour shows it's a totally bu***it , unprofessional company.
Shame on you coursehero!!
This program has been very beneficial in helping me understand what they are asking for and what type answer fits most appropriately. When I have that information, I can understand fully knowing the correct answer. I have a problem understanding what the question is actually looking for but this guides me and helps me look at the question/answer completely. There are not many, but occasionally I will come across incomplete or missing answers that leaves me in the same spot I begin. Thank you
They are actually not completely bad. I think they can be helpful at times as much as they can be wasteful other times. Preferences do matter.
I have contacted them multiple times! The people all say different things and avoid answering any questions. When you apply for a scholarship, they say they won't publish info about you or the class, but they do!!! Do not give this rotten company a single cent!
This site doesn't deserved a single start.
They stole all my hard earned money. i was a 5 stars rating tutor there, but when time came for withdrawing the fund, these bastards just remove my account.
I lodged a complaint on BBB's Online Complaint Management System, requesting all to complaint there against these scammers.
They are actually not completely bad. I think they can be helpful at times as much as they can be wasteful other times. Preferences do matter, if you're a student who needs someone to help you in your assignments and homework, do not hesitate to reach me at [email protected] I do offer high quality academic services. Thank you.
Course hero has upped their prices recently and also become a bit more deceptive in their check out process as well as their pricing in addition to having a significant amount of documents that have blurred out answers, only to unlock them and find out, THEY DON'T ACTUALLY have any answers! In it's entirety, Course Hero is a fail attempt of a student resource and an exceptional scam on cash strapped college students who may be struggling and need help with their academics.
They don't clearly state that you're not paying a full amount, and the biggest issue is they do not give you a summary of your bill amount or a check out total. You're always taken to a confirmation page before you press pay on websites that shows how much you're going to be billed, Course Hero does not. They have you enter your billing information and press accept, I assumed I was going to a confirmation page but no, I was directed to a processing payment screen when THEN told me I'm not paying a monthly amount but an entire years worth.
