CodeGuard, found online at CodeGuard.com, is a new backup and security service provided for websites who are looking for an effective and simple way to protect themselves.
How Does It Work?
According to their website, a website is attacked by a virus or malware more than once each second. However, the majority of website managers and bloggers still don’t have the appropriate backup software protecting their websites. The goal of CodeGuard is to make sure that the backup process is simple, easy to understand, and easy to use.
Getting started is very simple. All you do is connect your site by giving you ftp/sftp/MySQL information to CodeGuard. Once your site is connected, an initial backup will be immediately performed. While this is happening, real time updates of the progress will be accessible.
After the program has been connected to your website, CodeGuard will monitor your site each day for changes. If any changes are made, you will be alerted by email. Whenever changes are detected, your site will be immediately backed up again.
If any of these changes end up being due to a mistake or a virus, you will have easy access to any previous version of your website to which you would like it be restored through a simple dashboard setup.
CodeGuard currently offers their customers three different membership plans which can be paid for on a month-to-month basis. The first is their Ronin package, which is $49 per month and can manage up to 12 websites, unlimited databases, and up to 50 GB total.
The Samurai package is priced at $99 per month and can manage up to 25 websites, unlimited databases, and up to 125 GB total. Finally, the Shogun package is priced at $299 per month and can manage up to 100 websites, unlimited databases, and up to 500 GB total.
If customers are willing to commit to paying for this security on an annual basis, rather than a month-to-month basis, you can also get the Ninja package for $60 per year, and every package already mentioned at a savings of $20 each month.
In addition, all packages that you sign up for will include a free 14 day trial of their services.
Surprisingly enough, the website does offer customers a Refund Policy, which they described as “liberal.” They want their customers to always be 100% satisfied, so if at any point during your membership you decide you are unhappy with their service, you are welcome to cancel your service for a pro-rated refund.

This company appears to have really good reviews from technology blogs and websites, all of whom seem to recommend their service as a smart one to have, especially for any website owners or bloggers that currently don’t use any backup service.
And for customers that are considering using this service, it is really unusual and beneficial for their customers that they offer the ability to receive a pro-rated refund if you decide you are unhappy with your service and wish to cancel it at any point.
Competitors and Alternatives?
There are other products which promise to give your website this same level of protection and attentive services, including VaultPress and MyRepono, if you determine that CodeGuard security isn’t the right service for you.

I have CodeGuard, we've had it for years. Yesterday was the first time I've ever needed to use this service. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY! In restoring a backup, I received an error. Hostgator was not able to help and directed me to CodeGuard's customer service. Are you ready for this one? Their customer service is an answering service! Yup, you heard that right, an answering service. They can't help at all. They can pass a message onto CodeGuard to get back to you on your issue with no estimated timeline to expect a response. Two days later, and two phone calls and STILL no reply from CodeGuard! On my last call, I asked the answering service when I could expect a response. They said they couldn't give a time frame. I was shocked! I asked if it could be as long as a week or a month before anyone got back to me, she said she couldn't say.
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME ON THIS RIDICULOUS SERVICE BECAUSE IT SEEMS THEY ACTUALLY DON'T PROVIDE A SERVICE AT ALL!
Warning! CodeGuard are crooks. I signed up for their 14 day free trial to try it out and canceled after a week because I couldn't get it to work. They said I will still be charged after the 14 days for a full year $374 since they claim cancellation only applies after one year. What total bullshit is that? Avoid this company!
