About Clash of Clans

Clash of Clans is a mobile strategy game from game creator Supercell which claims that since it was launched in 2012 it has become one of the most popular and well-reviewed mobile games on the market.

How Does It Work?

Clash of Clans was established in 2012 and based on the ancient system of people forming together into clans for community benefits and protection, and needing to either attack other clans or to band together to protect themselves from the attacks of others.

This is an online multiplayer game where players build a community, train troops, and attack other players in order to earn gold and elixir. Gold will be used to build defensive buildings and to upgrade existing buildings, while elixir is used to train your troops, and to carry out research which will upgrade your troops.

The “clan” aspect of this game occurs when groups of players join together to support each other through the donation of troops or with advice. Clan leaders and co-leaders can begin wars against other clans, and they will be given one day to prepare and one day for the actual war.

When a player attacks an opposing clan, they will receive stars based on the destruction they cause to that player’s community. Each player can attach twice per war, and the team with the most stars at the end of the war is the winner.

Mobile Options

Originally this game just launched on the iOS platform, but since its initial launch it has expanded to both the Android platform, and more recently, the Google Play platform.

Cost/Price Plans

Clash of Clans is considered a “freemium” game, which means that is free to download and free to play, but there are certain aspects of the game or features which do require real world money.

In the case of Clash of Clans, the part of the game that people most commonly pay real world fees for are the gems. Gems are a third currency which can be used in the game, in addition to the gold and elixir that you collect through standard game play. Gems are awarded to players when they complete achievements or reach certain milestones, and are sometimes awarded randomly when you are building in your compound.

But the reality is that the main way to get gems is simply to buy them with an in-app purchase. Once purchased, gems can be used to speed up construction times, troop training, and lab research, as well as purchase more resources and builders – essentially, they make the game progress faster in all aspects.

Refund Policy

The website does not provide any information regarding refunds for gem purchase if customers mistakenly purchased the wrong package, or if they decide to quit or leave the game with remaining gems. The reality is that this game likely doesn’t provide any refunds for these costs, so customers should consider this when deciding to purchase diamond packages.

Reputation

Clash of Clans claims to be a well-liked game with many happy users and positive reviews, and it appears that they’re telling the truth. Their website offers a long and detailed story about how the “Clash of Clans” game originally didn’t offer any clashing between the clans, which created some frustration with game users.

But the design team said that they felt it was important for them to get a wide audience base and to get feedback from what this audience wanted from the next evolution of the game before they initiated their next phase, and it seems like game players were understanding of that choice.

Of course the most common complaint of this game is the fact that players willing to purchase lots of gems essentially get to dominate other players that aren’t willing to spend as much money – as they say, a pay-to-win type of set up. But this complaint occurs with most “freemium” games.
