Chegg.com is the online home of Chegg, a company that says their goal is to meet the needs of today's students, including everything from textbook rentals to help with homework and even help finding scholarships.
There are many different businesses out there which have been created to meet the needs of students, from CourseSmart.com and Course Hero, to Half.com and Textbooks.com.
The creators of Chegg were three students from Iowa State University who understood that the situation with textbooks and services at colleges and universities was getting out of control.
Students were averaging almost $700 each semester in textbook costs and then only getting pennies on the dollar when they sold their books back to the student bookstore at the end of the courses.
They wanted to create a service where students have the ability to rent textbooks, both physical and digital books, at about half the cost of what it would take to purchase the book in either format.
This makes it easy for students to get what they need and simply return books when they are done using them; no need to go through the hassle of trying to sell their old books. However, if you have old textbooks you would like to unload, they have an option to sell books as well.
They also offer homework help and study based services, which you can utilize for a short free trial of 7 days to see if might be useful to you. Unfortunately, it is really important that determine whether or not you want to keep using this service with the trial period so you can cancel if you choose; there is no clear return policy if you are unhappy with the services after this time.
There is no one phone number or contact address for Chegg.com; you will be given a different phone number for different departments depending on the specific type of question you have - you enter your question into their website and they will give you a phone number to reach the correct department.
