Charter College Reviews

About Charter College

Charter College, found online at CharterCollege.edu, says that they are a private, independent institution of higher education that uses blended instruction as a successful means of continuing education.

How Does It Work?

According to their website, Charter College is not a liberal arts college or vocational school, but is instead a continuing education institution that strives to take the best elements from these types of respected institutions to create an innovative and beneficial experience for their students.

The creators of Charter College realized that adults who were interested in pursuing educational goals while also balancing work, family, and other responsibilities needed flexible degree programs that utilized a non-traditional environment to complete their studies.

They call this non-traditional environment “blended learning.” This means students only physically attend class twice a week, and then complete the rest of their studies online, on their own schedule. They claim that this type of student driven learning better prepares people for the corporate work world, as opposed to other strictly directed learning programs.

In addition, they promise that all their campuses have been accredited either by the ACICS or BPPE institutions.

Cost/Price Plans

This website does provide prospective students with information on potential financial aid resources, as well as the Military Tuition Discount they provide for qualifying students, but they do not provide detailed explanations of all their fees and tuition expenses.

This is likely because expenses will vary depending on program and campus, so students may need to speak to a school representative to get the best possible idea of what their program will truly cost them.

Refund Policy

Colleges and universities don't really publish Refund Policies. Instead, they have withdrawal policies which will give you time periods during which you can withdraw from your classes and receive a refund of the fees you've been charged so far.

Customer Service Contact Info

This website does publish a long list of email addresses and phone numbers depending on your specific issue or question, all of which can be found on their website. They also offer some general contact information, including a phone number as 775-849-9900. Prospective students are also invited to submit their own contact information to the website and be contacted by a school representative.

Reputation

Unfortunately there appear to be many students of this school system that are vocally unhappy with the experiences they’ve had, stating that tuition prices are far too high for a college program that is as unsupervised and where the learning is as independently directed as it is at Charter College.

In addition, there appeared to be many complaints from students who enrolled in programs that were very new at this school, and felt that both the instructors and the administrators were poorly equipped to train people to be successful in their field.

The most important thing to look at when considering a college degree or certificate program is whether or not that specific program is accredited and respected within its career field. While a specific campus may be accredited, that doesn’t actually mean that the program you are entering has been accredited, resulting in a degree that isn’t accepted by employers but that you are still legally required to pay for.

Competitors and Alternatives?

There are many colleges and universities that offer access to online education degrees and programs that you may be interested in, like Rasmussen College, Remington College, New England College Online, and many more.
