Charitybuzz.com is the online home of Charitybuzz, a website that describes themselves as “the place to find extraordinary experiences and luxuries to benefit remarkable charities making an impact.”
How Does It Work?
According to their website, Charitybuzz.com is an online auction website that brings together some of the world’s most “acclaimed celebrities, inspiring luminaries, and beloved brands” to give their members access to incredibly experiences that also support an incredible cause.
Members can search through their current auctions by category, including Celebrity, Travel, Sports, Music, Entertainment, Business Experiences, Fashion, and more. You can also search through the available auctions by the type of cause and charity they support.
Customers who cannot find the auction that’s right for them and their needs can also look into creating a “Custom Experience.” This feature of Charitybuzz.com allows their members to create one-of-a-kind experiences that meet your exact specifications and still ensures that the money you spend will be given to a good cause.
The website is very clear that they do not charge any fees to their members simply to register on their website or to place a bid. When you first register your credit card will be charged a $1 validation fee, but this will be refunded back to your account within the first 72 hours.
Some auctions will have Minimum Bids clearly listed for their participants, and members are always welcome to use their Max Bid feature for auction participation. This feature allows members to set the highest amount they are willing to pay for an auction item.
For example, the website says that if you set your Max Bid at $1000, the computer will begin your bidding process at the minimum bid optional. When someone places a bid higher than yours, your bid will automatically be increased in small increments until the bidding concludes or until your Max Bid is reached.
This company is very clear that each and every bid placed on their website is legally binding; there is no way to retract or go back on a bid that has been placed, whether or not it is the final and winning bid.
All auction winners are entering into a legal contract where they are obligated to purchase the item that they bid on. Because of this, the Charitybuzz website asks that all participants think carefully before placing a bid at any time.

In general it does appear that this website receives good reviews and has a positive reputation within the charity auction industry, but there does appear that there was a lawsuit filed against this company in 2014 for not following through with the terms of an auction item that they had sold. It is unclear how this lawsuit was settled, but it does seem to be an isolated incident.
Competitors and Alternatives?
There are many other types of charity auction companies and websites available, though this company does offer a very specific type of charity auction commodity since they are selling celebrity experiences.
