CDI College is a system of institutions located throughout the provinces of Canada with the aim of being educational and professional training facilities.

How Does it Work?

CDI College is a for-profit university, which is a type of post-secondary learning institution that has been multiplying over the last few years.

According to CDI College’s website they offer a wide variety of diploma programs and have over twenty different locations.

When choosing an institution of higher learning, one of the important things you should look for is “accreditation,” the process by which a third party evaluates the educational program and makes sure that it meets pre-determined standards.

In both the United States and Canada, this third party must be approved by the government's Educational Department.

Being a Canadian school, in order for CDI College to have accreditation, they must adhere to specific guidelines set out by each individual province where their campuses are located.

Controversy Surrounding For-Profit Schools

Unfortunately, as the attendance rates of for-profit universities have risen there have been reports  that some for-profit colleges and universities have mislead their prospective students into believing they are fully accredited.

The reality then turns out to be that only some of their diploma programs meet standards for accreditation while others do not, or sometimes the schools claim accreditation from a third party which is not sanctioned by the country's Educational Department.

Thankfully, it is possible to conduct your own research to determine whether or not a collegiate program is considered accredited.

Using the website of the Council of Ministers of Education Canada, you can choose the province in which you are planning to attend school, and from there discover which schools and programs are accredited, and which are not.

Since many employers will not acknowledge or accept your degree or training certificate from an unaccredited program, making sure that you are attending an accredited program is necessary to protect the time, money, and effort that you invest into obtaining a college diploma.

Best experience with my instructor at CDI
January 28, 2026

I completed a one-year Business Management program at this college, and I would like to share my experience with you. I was very fortunate that Ms. Himani was the instructor for almost all of my courses. Without a doubt, Ms. Himani is one of the best instructors I have had throughout my educational journey. She is extremely patient, kind, and knowledgeable.

I never felt stress or anxiety in any of the classes I took with Ms. Himani. Even though English is my second language, she always taught with great patience, understanding, and kindness.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ms. Himani and congratulate CDI College for having such an outstanding instructor.

Application and Admissions Dept- CDI College

I am a full supporter and advocate for CDI College. I received all the guidance and information required to successfully enroll in the Accounting and Payroll Administrator Course quickly, so I was able to commence within 3 weeks of my application date.

I had a small window of opportunity and the professional staff at CDI College went out their way to ensure my transition as a student was smooth and almost effortless!

Many thanks to Ritu (Student Financial Aid- CDI Brampton Campus), Mansha (Student Admissions- CDI College) and everyone else behind the scenes who assisted. I am so glad I chose CDI College!

Worst teacher
August 31, 2025

This is terrible, terrible place. Especially one of the teachers. Nadine Grawberger, the Medical office assistant course facilitator. She is rude lady with racist ideas in her head. She should not work with people at all.

Worst experience ever! I do not recommend this college to anyone!

SCAM COLLEGE

Scam college will say anything to get your money!!!! They lie about work load saying courses only require 4 hours when in reality its 8+ hours!!!!!!

CDI is a SCAM
February 20, 2025
Absolutely awful. They were so helpful and encouraging in helping me get a government loan. Once the school had my money the student service died. I fought my way through impossible circumstances to uphold my grades and finish on time. When it came time for practicum to start the coordinator who was in charge went radio silence and ignored me up until halfway through the first week. She led me on to believe I would be starting the next week, than the next week and eventually the coordinators manager contacted me to let me know that the PC was being let go from the college and that there were fifty other students in the same boat. I am now four months passed when I should have started. I have been lied to and overlooked and I really advise anyone thinking of using CDI College to google reviews. I borrowed 40k last year to attend what I thought was a reputable college and now I sit here a single father on the bring of losing everything. The college has offered me no financial help and blatantly ignores my pleas for help. BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!! Do your research and avoid this nightmare!!

CDI scamming College

Don't enroll in this college, unless you want to end with massive dept. They tell you to read from the slideshow and they will sleep infront of you. If you are there, don't waste your time and money, go look for other opportunities. It is full of scammers and idiots hired to scam people. They hated me because I saved more than 30 people who came there to apply. My advice is don't go to any private college.

Mr. Balen
May 2, 2024

I had the privilege of being a student in Mr. Balen's class at CDI college, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. Mr. Balen possesses a rare combination of expertise, passion, and dedication that truly sets them apart as an outstanding educator. Throughout the course, demonstrated a deep understanding of the subject matter and a genuine enthusiasm for sharing their knowledge with students. Their teaching style was engaging, interactive, and tailored to meet the diverse learning needs of the class. One of the things I appreciated most about Mr. Balen was their unwavering commitment to student success. They went above and beyond to provide support, encouragement, and constructive feedback, fostering a positive learning environment where every student felt valued and empowered to excel. Furthermore, he was not only a teacher but also a mentor, guiding us not only academically but also personally and professionally. Their mentorship had a profound impact on my growth and development, both inside and outside the classroom. He is an exemplary educator who embodies the qualities of excellence, passion, and dedication. My experience in their class was truly transformative, and I am grateful for the opportunity to have learned from such a remarkable teacher. Thank you, Mr. Balen, for your outstanding commitment to education and for inspiring students like me to strive for excellence. Sincerely,

Access Course
November 8, 2023
I absolutely loved the Access course. It was easy to follow and I feel very comfortable with the program.

Zero staff accountability, lies, and ridiculousness.
November 8, 2023

When I signed up, I chose this school because I was told that I would get a completion grant, paid directly to me, to aid in the fact that I did not get any living allowance with my student loans. That, at the very end, apparently turned out to be a blatant lie. I Challenged them on it, and it has been over a week and a half of getting the run around about it.

Now, I am fighting with them over a prerequisite that makes ZERO sense, and they did not even make sure it was done before I started (and have now finished) my practicum. Withholding my diploma!!!!!

The absolute incompetence of the people working here is outrageous, and the high turnover of staff makes it IMPOSSIBLE to hold anyone accountable.

We were not informed of practically anything that we should have been, we have not been paid back for courses that we paid for out of pocket and were supposed to be reimbursed for upon completion (6+ Months later), and more!

I 100% DO NOT recommend going to this school for ANYTHING. there is zero accountability, and you have to do the schools job for them in order to make it through.

I set up and implemented my own practicums, and had I not I would have had to "do random school work to keep up my attendance".

I honestly cannot even actually put into words how pathetic this school really is. Definitely a cash grab, and nothing more.

I do feel bad for the instructors, even they were constantly asking us to put in complaints and requests so that they could be given the chance to actually teach us, as they kept taking away any "teaching" time that they had.

It was all roses, rainbows and promises when is signed up, and it was ALL lies.

The worst
October 24, 2023
I attended CDI College to pursue the Oil and Gas Administration program. Unfortunately, I did not receive a practicum opportunity as part of my program. As a result, I accumulated a significant debt of over $30,000. Furthermore, since 2013, I have faced challenges in establishing credit under my name. Given my personal experience, I do not recommend CDI College.

Enrollment Call People Are Given Bonuses For The Amount of People They Get to Enrol.
August 28, 2023

If You Value Your Future, Do Not Enroll At CDI College. I read most of the reviews here and my situation is no different. From day 1, we were mislead and that was just the beginning. Everything from expired content, to gross inflated book fees (that aren't even CDI College content), to withheld certification exam codes to not having a teacher at all for our live classes.

My practicum also was started late, my student loans also nearly all went to this 'school'. I have been so broke, most months I went without much food and was constantly stressed out over misallocation of assignments and you name it, whatever could go wrong did go wrong.

So i began the process of submitting my complaint which starts of course with submitting it to CDI admin themselves.

What good is a complaint process if you are submitting your evidence and docs to the business or person your complaining about??

Anyway, i began that process last November. Every single stage of this process, the student is required to submit docs and evidence within a certain amount of time. But CDI can take as much time as they wish to resolve or even deal with your complaint. They don't even give you an approximate time by which it will be resolved. So, here we are nearly in September 2023, and I am still waiting to hear back from Private Career Colleges of Alberta on their investigation.

Though my hopes for a fair and just resolution in my matter are fading by the day.

Considering that I know now what the investigation entails, there is no to no hope for justice in my or anyone else's complaints.

CDI admin has gone through extensive lengths to absolve themselves of any wrong-doing in the student contracts that I and everyone else signed upon enrollment.

They take advantage of peoples excitement of going back to school by outlining the terms of the agreement so that no matter what, once its signed, you are screwed.

I have applied at over 1000 jobs since last fall, and still I am without work, without prosperity, without earning income and without hope.

And yet still just last week, CDI Admin called me, (even though I have a current complaint investigated about them) and asked me for the rest of the book fees that I still owe them for.

How this is even legal in this or any country is beyond my understanding.

So, if you value your future at all, do NOT enroll with CDI Colleges. Your better off wingin' it.

Regret and resentment
June 21, 2023

I wish I could say I had a positive experience with remote learning, but it has been nothing but anxiety and frustration. I have been done with my required studies since April and was supposed to be placed in a local business to complete a practicum.

I missed a prerequisite due to their mismanagement that nobody helped me resolve for 3 months. I have been waiting for a practicum placement for almost another 2 months now. I know my emails are forwarded and bounced around to the people "in charge" of this process but they seem to be understaffed and not able to carry out the promises they put in their contract.

They are very quick to email me asking for money if it's not paid right at the beginning of each month even though I'm literally doing nothing (100% of the student loan I get has gone for them so I have been living without income for a year) and I keep getting these automated (I'm assuming) emails threatening to withdraw me from my program because I have not completed attendance records (I can't do anything and its even prohibited to approach businesses to ask if I can do a practicum there).

It's hard to not build resentment against the people working there like the teachers, who I know are doing some real work, as they are kind of complicit in what is looking more and more like a scam organization--one severely lacking standards and hiding behind bureaucracy.

I can't even back out now because I have paid them with debt money that the government themselves gave me and none of it can be returned. I don't think my diploma will mean anything positive when I am done, even though I had multiple 100's in classes which of course "looks good", but the material is nowhere near as hard as real university.

I don't know how ignoring your top performing students helps your reputation. I one hundred percent regret my decision, I could have put that loan to better use in my country.

I sincerely hope there is a fair investigation done by federal authorities to close this business if they are not meeting standards. I am writing this because reputation points are the only way I have of feeling any degree of justice.

JackieSovick November 08, 2023

I 100% agree. If I had not pushed and pushed and pushed, I would have been in the exact same position. I luckily saw very quickly how poorly this school is run, and did a LOT of "squeaky wheeling". They honestly should be shut down! I paid them $15,000 and seriously did almost everything myself, including my practicum placement and set up. It has been a LITERAL joke attending this "school".

Would give zero stars if I could. Worst “school” ever. Needs to be investigated and shut down. Do not fall for it.
May 18, 2023

Worst experience of my life, I feel stupid and scammed for signing up with them. I wish I did a little more research into this place it has messed my life up so bad right now. Please do not go to this school!!!!

SCG September 20, 2023

Hi Jordan. I think we were in the same class.

JackieSovick November 08, 2023

I agree. They are withholding my diploma for something THEY screwed up, even though I am 100% done with the course and have been hired by my district!! Horribly run and corrupt "School".

Student loan thieves and scammers
March 6, 2023

Zero stars and minus stars. This all for money and all for student loans business only cares about student loans and does not care about education in my personal experience. Incompetent staff, zero integrity as management, and extremely poor communication once you enroll. They are thieves in broad daylight in the name of education, ripping students off on their loans. Do not ever join cdi calgary south. do your research and read the recent marketplace review.

JackieSovick November 08, 2023

100% agree with this review.

CDI College Calgary Campus----Scammers and thieves, ruining students lives
February 24, 2023

Worst experience and I highly regret ever joining them. Put out publicity everywhere and trap students for money and once question about the quality of service, collect tuition fees for staring at empty screen.

Absolutely irresponsible and purely money minded and zero integrity as an institution. Worst decision of my life.......Highly recommend staying away from their traps.
