About Bivvy Pet Insurance

If you’re like most people, your pet is probably your family. You would do anything for your four-legged friend - but unfortunately, when it comes to veterinary bills, a lot of us are blindsided by hidden costs and unexpected expenses.

While having a savings account built up to cover these costs can be helpful, often, it doesn’t even come close to putting a dent in the bills. That’s where Bivvy pet insurance comes in.

Pet insurance is a helpful way to offset some of the costs related to veterinary care. But is BIvvy pet insurance worth it? And more importantly, is Bivvy legit? Here’s what you need to know.

How Does it Work?

Bivvy is the first pet insurance of its kind, offering affordable coverage while at the same time, eliminating the complex schedule of benefits that many insurance companies adhere to. You only pay $10 a month for expenses up to $1,000 per year. You'll pay a coinsurance of 20% and have a $250 deductible. There is a lifetime limit of $25,000.

Applying for Bivvy pet insurance takes most people just five minutes. You’ll find out immediately whether you were approved, too. You can access your policy online at any time.

Bivvy covers a wide variety of expenses, including accidents, illnesses, hereditary and congenital conditions, prescription medications, surgery, hospitalization, x-rays, orthodontic treatment, cancer treatment, and more.

What’s not covered? Pre-existing conditions, preventative or routine care (including vaccines, spay and neuter procedures and cosmetic surgery) are also not covered. Grooming and boarding expenses also do not qualify. You can cancel your policy at any time, and it will be renewed on an annual basis.

There is a fourteen-day waiting period for illnesses and accidents, but orthopedic conditions have a 12-month waiting period to prevent fraudulent claims. Coverage is not dependent on age, and you don’t even have to carry an insurance card with you! Bivvy can be used at any licensed veterinarian's office, as it’s a reimbursement policy. You’ll pay for the expenses and then be reimbursed after the fact.

Cost and Price Plans

Sign up for Bivvy pet insurance, and you’ll pay just $10 per month. This rate is for any pet, regardless of their species, age, gender, size, or breed.

One of the best features of Bivvy is that your rates won’t go up just because you make a claim. That’s a unique feature that even many human health insurance plans don’t have!

Although you will need to open up separate policies for other pets, it’s so affordable that you won’t break the bank in doing so. You also don’t need to go through the entire application process again - you can simply log in to your account and add a pet.

Competitors and Alternatives

When it comes to veterinary bills, there are a number of companies out there looking to capitalize on our love for our pets! That’s not a bad thing. In fact, it means that there are plenty of options available when it comes to alternatives to pet insurance companies like Bivvy.

Some to consider include Healthy Paws, Pets Best, and Figo has multiple plan options for pet owners to choose from, including four annual deductible options. There are no yearly limits, which makes it a smart choice if you’re worried that your pet might be a bit on the accident-prone side!

Pets Best is another pet insurance company. It is one of the best at covering emergencies, but it does not include specialty treatments or exam fees. It has a $10,000 annual limit but offers 90% reimbursement, which means it might be one of the most cost-effective choices.

A final alternative to Bivvy is Figo. Figo is the only pet insurance company that offers 100% reimbursement for all claims. With low pricing and extensive customer service, Figo is one of the most approachable pet insurance companies. There are plenty of fully customizable plans available, too, so that you can adapt your plan based on the age, health, and location of your pet.

Online Customer Reviews/Complaints

Pet owners love that Bivvy doesn’t require a veterinary exam to qualify for coverage. In other words, you don’t have to spend money in order to save money with your new insurance plan. Reviews also praise the low monthly premiums and high reimbursement rates of the company.

One of the biggest complaints about Bivvy is that it’s not available in all areas. There are some states in which you cannot apply for Bivvy pet insurance, including New York and California. It has a relatively low annual benefit limit, and while you can take your pet to any veterinarian of your choice, most alternative therapies are not accepted.

Customer Service

Bivvy is a company based out of Madison, WI. The company has been around for about four years, and while it’s young, it’s working hard to provide creative coverage solutions. It’s owned by CUMIS Insurance Society, Inc., a company that has been providing insurance products to people for more than 80 years.

You can contact customer service by logging in to your online account or by emailing [email protected] You can also call the customer service phone number at 1-855-434-3744.

Where to Buy?

You can sign up for Bivvy pet insurance and be approved almost immediately on the Bivvy website.

Is it Worth It?

Did you know that one in three pets will require emergency veterinary care each year - and that can cost more than $1,500? Don’t run the risk of not being able to pay for your pet’s vet bills. Instead, consider Bivvy.

If you have a pet, you would likely do anything for them. That kind of love and commitment deserves protection  - and pet insurance can help. Bivvy offers affordable plans that are perfect for any pet-owner.
