About Armando Montelongo

Armando Montelongo has grown to be one of the most popular and successful stars to come out of the popular A&E house flipping shows.  He and his wife were one of the first celebrities of the hit show “Flip This House.”

Many of the featured house flippers have gone on to start real estate education businesses but none have reached the level that Montelongo and his company have.

He has also used these profits to pursue various entertainment interests and has produced several films and shows.  However the foundation of Armando Montelongo Companies is still rooted in selling high cost real estate investment education.

Products:

The underlying goal of most of his educational materials is to teach and give people the confidence to buy homes as cheap as possible, fix them up, then flip them for a profit.  These products are sold through live seminars that marketed across the states, relying on Armando’s fame to get people through the door.

The most popular is the Free Preview Event.  This seminar is hosted by Armando’s partners and will give you a brief interview of the house flipping business.  It introduces the core concepts and and various strategies that people can use to make money in real estate.

You will also be introduced to additional seminars and events such as the Foundation Event.

This follow up seminar sells for $1,500 and is supposed to be an “intensive” 3 day workshop that should get your flipping business off the ground.

Some of the more advanced concepts that they cover include:

• After repair value vs. fair market value
• The 1% Rule vs Mixed Rate
• Various options for fixing and flipping

Completion of this seminar leads to the optional next step which is the Bus Tour.  This is the most expensive course offered and leads you through the entire process of scouting a property to invest in.

This event is lead by Armando himself and also lasts three days.  The event is also a great place to network with his partners and most successful students.

They also offer continuing education courses and a master mentor event.  Montelongo has also authored the book "Flip and Grow Rich."

Cost and Price Plans:

Armando events are not cheap and if you go through the entire series of seminars you can end up spending as much as 40,000 dollars.

Customer Service:

If you have any questions you can reach out to the company at (800) 854-9582 or by email at [email protected]

Online Reviews/Complaints:

Armando’s companies have had their share of legal issues.  The company was investigated in 2011 by the Texas attorney general.  That case was settled without any admission of wrongdoing.

More recently a class action lawsuit was filed by 160 of his former students.  The case alleges that Montelongo’s companies bilked their students for enormous amounts of money and did not deliver on their promises.

The company has said these are false claims and is fighting the case, claiming that out of over 1.5 million satisfied students this a small subset that did not work the system taught to them.

Other less serious allegations come from students who expected more out of the free seminars and ultimately feel duped when they find out that the free seminar is essentially an introduction that will require additional investment.

Competitors and Alternatives:

As previously stated many former A&E hosts have gone on to start their own real estate companies.  Some of the more popular ones feature Than Merrill, Scott Yancey and The Flipping Formula.

If you have attended any of Armando Montelongo’s seminars or have used any of his other learning resources please leave a detailed review below explaining what you thought of the information provided.

Since this is a scam, you don't actually have to know anything about real estate in order to work for Armando Montelongo.

I'm a waiter at a fine-dining restaurant in downtown San Antonio. Two men from Armando Montelongo's sales team came and tried to recruit me into their sales team. These were the shadiest two I had ever met. Their self importance oozed through their perfectly-pressed Armani suits. They wouldn't go into details--all they did is rave about some guy named Armando Montelongo.

These two also made racist jokes loudly enough for other tables to hear. One of the guys--Kurt Weinrich was his name--casually chuckled about gassing the Jews while a nearby table looked on in disgust.

They finally left about two hours after closing time. I told them that I would check out the seminar just to get them out of the door--in fine dining a waiter cannot leave until the last table leaves.

I blew them off. I wanted nothing to do with their seminar or this mysteriously shady Armando Montelongo figure. I blew them off hoping they would get the hint.

They didn't get the hint. Two weeks later, these two gentlemen visited my restaurant again, this time asking for me by name. Again, they went on and on about Armando Montelongo. Again, Kurt Weinrich joked about gassing the Jews. Again, they stayed for over two hours after closing time.

I finally agreed to attend their seminar. I was absolutely disgusted by what I saw there.

There was an older couple really close to me—they had to be in their sixties. They were open and honest, sharing their story with the uncaring smiling face of the ‘mentor’ beside me. The man was a Vietnam veteran still dealing with PTSD. They had just been left with a huge funeral bill from the death of a family member. They were desperate to escape the financial *** that life had unjustly thrust upon them. Worst of all? They had already drank the Kool-Aid; they were completely convinced that this class was going to give them the skills needed for financial freedom. The so-called mentor next to me, his cold and uncaring smile never wavering, had no trouble in convincing this poor old couple into opening up their still premature IRA to be used for the next great class; a $40,000 bus-ride for two.

After this happened, one of my recruiters approached me and whispered, “You see that older couple that just left? They’re almost certainly not going to make any money flipping houses. But this just what we do, and if you want to make money as a member of the ‘wolf pack’ then you have to do this.”

This infuriated me. After a brief moment, I quietly excused myself and headed toward the restroom—which also happened to be by the door—and left.

I have nightmares about what I saw that day. The level of depravity to which Armando Montelongo and his team of unqualified parasites will stoop is unparalleled.

What if it were your parents or loved one who were about to be scammed by Armando Montelongo? Please spread this message so that no one else may be deceived.

wife and I attended 3 day seminar....pd. 1500 for the full 3 days of courses...found the instructor very knowledgeable and informative....actually, he was an excellent teacher (dave)...
anyone who couldn't learn from it wasn't trying, and had unrealistic expectations...
I learned far more from seminar than I learned from many college courses I took....
yes, there is high pressure to attend the 30,000 bus tour, but you can turn that down...

highly recommend seminar, have over 150 pages of valuable notes to prove it.....mark

Earl: I remember sitintg in my seat that first morning thinking, This is what I paid my money for? Next morning: This is the most incredible opportunity that You have ever given me Thank You God! (and I thank Him everyday for this opportunity!)The silliness is minuscule the education is phenomenal! And although minuscule, the silliness is fun we all need fun (the shoulder massages are pretty good too!)Earl, go to the bus tour when you are well. Take plenty of note pads because you will fill them up. You will learn more than you thought possible in 3 days.I went in July (Green Bus!) (and no, I didn't jump up & down arthritis! I'm 61)I made 18 offers yesterday and I'll be making more before this week is up (yes houses sell on Thursday that's one of the reasons why we call it Thanksgiving!)Armando is an incredible teacher he makes everything crystal clear. He knows what he is talking about and if you pay attention and do what he tells you to do, you, too, will make money in this endeavor.Hang in there. Get well. Go. Learn. And then come back as a can do money making machine! God's speed and peace to you!!

Please do not attend the so called free seminar and do not spend your money. Honestly these people are snake oil salesmen. The only people profiting from these scams are the scanners themselves. If you own real estate do not blindly go where they tell you. In my entire life have I ever witnessed such crooks with smiles and charity suggestions swindle so many hard working, unsuspecting, trusting people get hoodwinked. They talk about Karma-wow-when Karma comes back to bite their lying tongues I hope they get it bad.

I paid $1500 for a three-day seminar on flipping houses. I am happy with the information I received including but not limited to where to find leads for distressed properties and/or motivated sellers, how to determine the cash offer, how to negotiate, how to use my credit to work for me when flipping houses, how to repair credit (should you need to), how to find buyers, how to use my profits to obtain better cash flow, how to protect my assets, and so much more. Going in to the class, I already had experience with obtaining properties to use as rentals, but my profit has not been that much, so this class definitely helped me. Any negative reviews you read are due to the team wanting seminar participants to sign up for a bus tour (35K), and they do put the pressure on to sign up. I did not sign up, so I cannot judge its quality. But if you filter out the bus-tour comments, you will definitely learn plenty and they do deliver on that!
