Arcbazar Reviews

Arcbazar is a company which states its goal is to help architects and designers connect with potential clients in a unique and interesting way, by allowing them to compete for client projects.

How Does Arcbazar Work?

According to their website, is the “first of its kind” online competition website which allows clients and designers to connect on small to medium scale design projects.

A client can go to their website and launch a design competition for any kind of project they need, from a renovation to a home addition, landscaping, a retail space design, or any other kind of project. You must provide a detailed description of the project, upload relevant images, and provide all basic dimensions. You will also then provide the amount of money you are willing to award the winners of your competition.

Once your project is uploaded, it will launch on their competition page and designers will begin submitting their designs. Once your competition timeline is up, you will have one week to go through the submissions and choose your winning design.

Cost/Price Plans

Clients do not need to pay money to sign up for an account or to launch their competition. You will need to arrange for the award that will be given to the top three designers.

When you create your competition, the system will take notice of the type, scale, complexity, deliverables, and duration of your competition and will suggest to you an appropriate award for your competition. You are not required to use this suggested award, but it can be used as a guideline.

The first place winner of your competition will be given 60% of the award, while the second place winner will receive 30%, and the third place winner will be given the final 10%.

Refund Policy

Since this is not a website that is providing a traditional buyer and seller arrangement, there is not a traditional Refund Policy supplied. Instead, they have a set of criteria which dictates whether or not you can reclaim the money you have put up for your award.

If your competition receives no submissions, the competition will be voided and the entire award will be refunded back to you. If you receive less than three submissions, you can choose to place the single or both submissions into the places you think are appropriate, and the remainder of the award will be refunded to you.

If you receive more than three submissions, all of which meet the requirements of the competition you created but you are still unhappy with them, you are still required to choose three winners. The website says they understand this a risk you take when creating a competition, but they have to create a system that is fair to their designers as well.

There are not many reviews available from customers and home owners who have actually used this website to source designs, but that doesn’t mean that there are not reviews available for

The Orange County Register provides an interesting look at this website, saying that it creates a situation where architects and design professionals are providing their professional work at a fraction of what they should actually be charging. On the other hand, it is true that this company provides access to design and architectural work for people who would otherwise not be able to pay for professional assessments.

Customers who are launching competitions may want to keep in mind the position of the designers and architects when assigning awards, especially because significantly under-awarding a project may result in lower quality designs.

I have used Arcbazar for 2 projects. Both attracted dozens of excellent plans and renderings from around the world. Very creative, and very helpful for our planning. Not a substitute for working with an architect on a project, but this costs a tiny fraction of what an architect costs. And many of the submissions are from registered architects, so if you like their proposal, you can work with them further to get code-compliant plans, construction details, engineering etc. I found the customer support to be very responsive, and the website very easy to use. I feel a little bit guilty paying such a small amount in exchange for a massive amount of work by the designers/architects. But it is a way for them to get their work noticed, and it is certainly a good deal for the consumer.
