Tony Robbins
Tony Robbins
needs no introduction, by now anyone with a
TV or radio should know who he is.
Over the years he has perfected the art of
being a self-help guru, seamlessly
integrating himself into popular culture.
Tony Robbins has authored many books,
developed several personal growth programs,
and appeared at countless seminars. He
has achieved a level of success that
separates him from other life coaches.
In his early life Tony Robbins was
influenced by
Jim Rohn, a popular
motivational speaker. This would
inspire him to study neurolinguistic
programming (NLP) which would become the
basis for many of his seminar techniques.
As the major endorser of NLP Tony Robbins
uses exercises at his seminars that help
people overcome mental fears. He
believes that the difference between
successful and unsuccessful people is the
willingness to take action towards the
things they want in life.
Thus, at some Tony Robbins seminars
people perform stunts like fire walking.
Although not a physically difficult task,
the purpose is the removal of the fear of
walking on hot coals. His events have
drawn so much attraction that he has become
a regular headline speaker at the
Learning Annex.
Tony Robbins has also had some personal
and legal difficulties that he had to go
through. On the personal side he had
to deal with his divorce, from long time
wife Becky, in the midst of selling perfect
marriage products.
In the legal arena he had to settle in
two different lawsuits. The first from
the FTC in which he had to pay back money
for making unreasonable income claims of his
materials. The second was for
copyright infringement against
Wade Cook, who claimed Tony Robbins
stole his materials for his own financial
course.
