Shopper Services Reviews

Is Shopper Services a Scam?

Shopper Services is an online service that claims to provide a variety of secret shopping resources to its members.  These include secret shopping training materials, certifications, and local job opportunity listings.  The question is do you really need Shopper Services to succeed as a secret shopper?

If you don't already know, secret shopping is a tool that small and large companies use to check the quality of their employees' performance and customer service.  Basically, everyone knows that when your manager is around you will work hard, but a secret shopper lets companies test their employees in a realistic environment with no supervision.

Shopper Services has been around since August of 2003 and they make an effort to connect companies with a wide selection of secret shoppers.  However, the reason that many people complain about Shopper Service is because the company charges a membership fee and sign their members up for additional services.

The only way to join ShopperServices is to call a customer service rep who will take your information and mail you a $1.95 trial membership kit.  They will also sign you up for Explore USA and Value Plus all trial memberships that you will have to cancel to avoid further payments.

On top of this members that are familiar with secret shopping resources have accused Shopper Services of simply taking their money and redirecting them to existing secret shopping websites where free information is available.

The Shopper Services training has also come under fire since all they do is send you to a fast food chain to do a sample report.  This is a waste of time since you could actually be doing a real secret shopping job instead.

The truth is that you shouldn't have to pay for secret shopping information or training.  There are several free online forums where members share strategies, job locations, and additional resources.

After reading the comments of several dissatisfied shoppers, I am sick to my stomach that I signed up for this program. I was two days outside my seven day trial period and they got me for the $49.95. REALLY! This company should be ashamed of themselves. God help anyone who falls for this scheme. I am going to do everything in my power to have the FTC, and Attorneys General research this company, their conduct and ethics. PLEASE DO NOT BECOME INVOLVED WITH THIS COMPANY.

This is a huge scam. I tried to cancel the membership a couple hours after I gave them my information and customer service is rude. They hung up on me and told me they have no record of me in there systems. If I see one more charge to my card I will be contacting a lawyer to further handle this matter.

ONE OF THE MOST REGRETFUL EXPERIENCES WITH A COMPANY IN 21 YEARS! It was a COMPLETE WASTE of valuable time and money. It's disheartening to see how a company that offers so much could have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to show for it. I'll be praying for them & may GOD BLESS and DELIVER all who even consider or hear of this company. -Jesus loves you

Thank God I did not become a member, but when I first called them they started asking me if i had a credit card or checking account. That was a bad feeling, I will not go any further.

This is a huge scam. What they claim is completely false. They said I'd have assignment the first week. I stupidly kept the membership for a month paying $2.95 & $49.95 & did exactly what they recommended to get assignments. However, I never got one & there was hundreds in my area. Please don't waste your money!!

What do you do with the cancellation numbers?

The signup process includes an upsell for another company called surplussupplier.com which is really exactly like InternetTreasureChest.com from back in the day...

The initial setup for shoppersystems.com is $2.95 and after 7 days (trial period) it is a monthly billing of $49.99

The upsell is $3.95 trial for 14 days, afterward it is an additional $49.99/mth

The shoppersystem.com asks for your phone number, email, home address, birthdate and sex, and a series of trainings which are completely bogus.

After reviewing the "Jobs" in my area, about 20% of them were paid shops, but you had to spend money to finish the shop, and the reimbursement for the shop is less than what you would make anyways... not to mention that's IF YOU GET THE ASSIGNMENT.

I cancelled within an hour of signing up, it just seems fishy and not enough potential to make money considering the lack of abundance of "jobs" in my area and the potential amount of current shoppers vying for the paid jobs.

This is just a way for this company to extract $100/mth from it's members without giving much in return until the membership is discontinued.

These type of company's should be illegal instead of worrying about all the unnecessary things they should' be trying to catch people like this who are stealing from us citizens! I'm so pissed I can barely write.

Please do not waist your money on www.ShopperSystems.com. See for
your self their customer service can't speak clear English at all. They are all foreigners with very bad English speaking skills. Note their customer service will rush you off the line as soon as you start asking questions, they will either get very nervous or very rude. They will erase your Bio and tell you, you didn't push update over and over again.

I received an email about being a mystery shopper and I responded. About 2 or 3 weeks later I got 2 money orders from the US Post office for 966 each. They told me to cash them and keep 200 and send the rest to Chicago. I then took the money orders to the Us post office and they confirmed they were fake. I knew they were fake. Like they say if its too good to be true then it not. Just want everyone to be careful. The Post Office said if I had cashed them I would be responsible to payback the money and possible jail for fraud.

So, i just got off the phone with them after i seen the ad in the Chicago Suntimes. I really had a bad feeling about this so i decided to do research AFTER I already paid the $2.95 registration fee. Thanks to you all, I am calling them to cancel as soon as i get home!!!! I knew something wasn't right and i should have stuck with my first instincts. Oh well, I'm a little upset but, i used A PREPAID DEBIT CARD!!! I never keep money on it! Even now, there's only $2.05 left on it LOL.. so I'm going to cancel but if it doesn't go through, they still won't scam anything from me!!! :)

BIG TIME SCAMMERS!!! IF YOU DO THE SAME MISTAKE THAT I DID YOU CAN CALL 866-920-8009 and or e-mail at shoppersystems.com ( I RECOMMEND CALLING IN CASE THEY "DIDN'T" RECEIVE THE E-MAIL. They will try and convince you to stay with them like they did me; and the guy just kept going and going. I said can you shut up!! WHAT PART OF I WANNA CANCEL THE AGREEMENTS I MADE DIDN'T YOU UNDERSTAND!! MAKE SURE YOU SAY I WANNA CANCEL SURPLUS SUPPLIER AND SHOPPER SYSTEMS AGREEMENTS IMMEDIATELY!!! and then write down cancellation numbers for BOTH companies. Hope this really helps and never again will I give out personal info again!!!

I worked for this company. It is privately owned and ran. They offer their reps promises of large paychecks and a sales job that is easy as pie cause the customers are calling you. This is a horrible company. The initial fee is 2.95 to start, but if you decide during the phone call that something is not right you can cancel before the end of the call even if you have given your credit card. They cannot charge you if you cancel before the end of the call. As soon as you provide your credit card info they preauthorize it to see if you have the 2.95 (which turns into a pending charge - that will go through if you allow them to continue pitching you and stay with it). Then after you give your card they tell you that it is $49.95 to keep it per month. Then they offer you an extra program that is 3.95 and then an additional 49.95 a month to do that. And all these fees are automatically deducted from your account unless you call to cancel before the end of your "free trial" periods!! If you do sign up and then try to cancel - good luck - their customer service department is located in another country and they barely speak english. We are trained as reps to give as little information possible and answer questions with as little information as possible and try not to let customers realize what they are being charged. The bosses are horrible and the company needs to be shut down. Adrienaa Martini was one of my bosses and she was very cruel always telling me that when I didn't get sales it was because I let the customer take control and that they were punking me. People want to be told not sold is what they always tell us, your the boss not them, they are calling you and then writing us up and even firing people when they got caught actually answering peoples questions instead of sticking to the script and using their scripted responses. I quit and have filed formal complaint against the company. They are called the veracity group and are located in mesquite off interstate 30 and motley and from what I hear on breaks outside they have also went under the name shopper services and shopper select.

they took my money and gave me nothing in return. they make it sound easy when it just a lot of run around and pretty much in the end they just take your money. they just want your money please don't sign up and if you have call right now and cancel. it will save you a head headache and save your bank account before they take every thing in it.
