Rich Dad Poor Dad
Rich Dad Poor
Dad is the first and most popular book
written by Robert
T Kiyosaki. The success of
Rich Dad Poor Dad has led Robert Kiyosaki to
expand his literary and business career into
his own company CASH FLOW Technologies, Inc.
Rich Dad Poor Dad was written by Robert
to be an all in one guide to wealth. The
book has a motivational aspect as well as
financial advice and strategies devised by
Robert Kiyosaki.
Essentially, Rich Dad Poor Dad
tackles financial mentalities through two
perspectives that Robert saw growing up. One
through his biological father who was a hard
working Superintendent yet had no net worth.
The other was through his second “Dad”, the
father of a close friend, who had money and
was constantly making more through
successful investments.
One of the main goals of Rich Dad Poor
Dad is to help people see the world of
finance from the eyes of the rich dad.
Specifically, to not only earn money but to
learn how to let money earn for them.
Rich Dad Poor Dad has been successful in
helping everyday people establish themselves
as entrepreneurs and has given them courage
to enter the business world.
However, many people have questioned the
validity of his financial advice and its
applications in the real world. Most of the
concepts in Rich Dad Poor Dad deal with tax
advantaged investment vehicles like asset
investment and real estate, ventures that
require money to make money.
Furthermore Robert Kiyosaki’s company has
several board games that they sell which
teach business and finance. The most popular
games, Cash Flow 101 and 202, run
dangerously close to oversimplifying wealth
building in their effort to entertain
customers.
Overall, I find that Rich Dad Poor Dad
succeeds as a motivational product yet lacks
real world financial advice. Its tendency
to brush over concepts without going into
detail subsequently hurts the audience. On
top of that Robert’s integrity has been
questioned on more than one occasion. Many
suspect that his wealth comes from the
proceeds of Rich Dad Poor Dad and his games
and not from the financial advice that he
teaches.

Most successful Men is not a successful Hushband/Father.

Aufric Navarro Philippines | 6:17am on Sunday, March 15th, 2009 | It's a good book. Motivational though it has vague parts. My cousin told me to read this book 2 years ago but I refused to... I read Nicolas Sparks fiction instead but a month ago, a professor told us to read the book and its mandatory. Thanks to him - Mr. Joel Silva. Learned a lot. Read the book. You'll love it more that romantic fictions!!! =) |
Sue Nebraska | 10:11am on Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 | Stick with Robert's books and read them with discernment and stay away from the Rich Dad Education "opportunities".
Do your research and find out about the company behind the Rich Dad Education, in fact find out the truth about ALL of the "education systems" out there that claim to teach you anything.
Hold on to YOUR money and save it start investing. Let's stop giving money to these people whose only interest is in Getting Your Money. You know what they say, "if you took all the money away from the rich and gave it to the poor, the rich would have it all back and then some in no time at all". This is just one of the ways they do that. |

Ivy Alipio Philippines | 2:31am on Tuesday, October 7th, 2008 | It's really great... I've learned so much from this book, especially I'm just a teen who always spend money like any other people. After I read it, I come to know that I'm one of the people who struggled much in handling money. This is one of the book I admired, unlike other useless books I have read... Thanks! |
Jack, here | 5:14pm on Monday, August 4th, 2008 | This is the best book I have ever read. Cashflow Quadrent, and Rich Dads Guide To Investing have helped me to start my own business. Robert also mentions other books to read. I strongly recomend reading all the books he has discussed. If you want to change your life for the better start reading his books today. You will get a better education than you ever will in school. |
Philip Denver, CO | 3:56pm on Friday, July 11th, 2008 | Absolute crap!
If you want to learn money, do yourself a favor and enroll in a local college. Need not be Harvard, just do the best that you can afford and understand. As to books on personal finance, Dave Ramsey, Suze Ormond and others speak with A LOT more wisdom than Kiyosaki. I think this entire series is worthless at best and downright harmful at worst. I have to pity those who read Kiyosaki for the first time and quit their jobs to follow his "advice". |

I read the book 2x. It's a fine book, and provides a framework from which to think about money. It's quite good. i'm a Finance undergrad major, and an MBA holder. i know about money, because i study it. Irrespective of the scam of the federal reserve, which is no more federal than Federal Express, Kiyosaki does have 1 good book for sure (the one above) that is good reading for those who want creative ways to think about money and how to control it. Regarding him being a scam, i can't speak to that. i don't follow "people" that much. I'd personally recommend learning about what the federal reserve is doing to this country (you won't like it) and then learn about money in general through Kiyosaki's book. That's a good combination i think. Good luck. |
Mike Location unknown | 6:22pm on Thursday, December 20th, 2007 | I have read several of Robert Kiyosaki's books, including Rich Dad Poor Dad. I think that he is a great motivational speaker, perhaps not the best author. I don't really know weather or not a rich dad or poor dad ever existed; but who really cares? It's called an Analogy. I enjoy his books because they are inspirational and helpful. No, they do not give a blueprint for success, but then again, what is success? Success is measured differently by everyone. One might say that I am successful. I am twenty four years old and have a house, car, and a six figure job; but I do not consider myself successful. I think that is what Robert is trying to get across in his teachings. Figure out what it is that you want and when you reach that point you have become successful. For those of you wanting a get rich quick scheme, he's not going to give that to you. He tells you this in his books, so why is he being criticized for it? |
Justen Phoenix, AZ | 6:21pm on Thursday, December 20th, 2007 | This book is Absolutely Awesome
He doesn't go into detail about things because techniques and opportunities change all the time. His goal is to change your thinking so you can decide which avenue of wealth is right for you. You have to increase your own financial education. I know why most people put it down. They disregard him as a fraud because one thing he stresses is that people need to learn to SELL. That is a very important skill for every entrepreneur, and most people have a negative view of it as they do with money in general. There really is a difference between rich and poor mentally: the poor want everything handed to them, while the rich know they have to create it and take their piece of the pie.
Also, everyone wants things to happen instantly, they don't like the truth that wealth building can take years before you are financially free. All I can say is he has opened my eyes and I recommend his book to anyone! |
