NTR. Has anyone else been scammed by this company?

National Trade Register (NTR) This company claims to help build your business for a fee (of course) they 'guarantee' that they will find jobs for your business. We foolishly registered with them and after 3 months when no jobs were forthcoming got in touch with them and was assured within the next 3 weeks we would hear from them. We never heard from them again.

A number of letters to NTR demanding our money back, were ignored. In short we paid NTR for nothing. Then they sent letters to us demanding another years registration fee, naturally we weren't going to be so foolish a second time and didn't pay it. So they sent threatening letters demanding that we pay for another year, and followed this with letters from a credit company saying that our credit rating would be compromised if we didn't pay up.

We got on to Trading Standards and and we were told they would investigate, apparently we weren't the only company to complain about NTR, after sending correspondence back and forth to Trading Standards there was no joy, apparently these things can take a long time we were told.

This was in 2008, thankfully once Trading Standards got on to NTR they stopped the threatening letters, which was a ruse to get out of paying us back the money they owed. However I see they still have a website so are obviously still scamming other companies, I would be interested to hear from anyone else who has had the same problem, and maybe something could be done to stop them.
