The Learning Annex
The Learning Annex is a high profile
adult education company. They offer
classes on an enormous variety of topics,
everything from cooking to real estate.
Many times the Learning Annex has
celebrities or known experts run these
classes to boost attendance.
The Learning Annex has been around since
the eighties but it's only recently that the
company has launched a powerful advertising
campaign. For example the Learning
Annex Real Estate Wealth Expo is attracting
massive crowds since it features Donald
Trump, Robert Kiyosaki, and other gurus.
The problem for the Learning Annex is
that these big names come at a big price.
Thus the focus is being shifted away from
presenting information and more on selling
products.
This trend spills over to they type of
vendors and speakers that try to get spots
at the Learning Annex. More and more
hype men are hosting seminars at the
Learning Annex simply because the increase
in attendance allows them to sell to more
people.
Although there are still some interesting
and well respected individuals running
classes at the Learning Annex. It
seems that most of the BS takes place at the
real estate and wealth building types of
classes where the speakers come to pitch
their books and programs.
The results of these practices by the
Learning Annex have taken their affect on
the customers. In recent surveys
attendees have said that they were
displeased with the amount of selling that
took place at their seminar.
In the end just keep in mind that if
Trump is reportedly receiving over a million
dollars, per hour of speaking time, you can
bet that the Learning Annex is trying to
make that money back. So be cautious
when you're choosing a Learning Annex class
to attend, you might end up paying to be in
a drawn out infomercial.

Comments to date: 2. Page 1 of 1. Average Rating: AP NYC | 11:00am on Friday, August 7th, 2009 | Attended a "free" seminar they put on and it was basically a whole day of sales pitches. Most of the programs their speakers were promoting would cost an additional $6,000 outlay. Did learn a little bit, but not worth the waste of time. Can find the same info in the library/bookstore or on the web. |
Bobby Olds San Diego, CA | 2:26pm on Monday, July 13th, 2009 | I've taken many classes through Learning Annex. Some of them were quite good and didn't require purchasing anything else (learn how to sail, learn stretching techniques, etc.). Some offered additional (and helpful) programs but no hard sells (better memory class with Dave Farrow, for example). However, I must agree with you that the real estate seminars seem to be a breeding ground for essential theft. I attended a Kevin Mills real estate seminar that would have been fine if it had only been limited to the Learning Annex class. He did well in his presentation. However, because he was a speaker there, I trusted him. UGH! Big mistake. He offered a Millionaire 101 program for five thousand dollars. It was to include a one-hour mentoring session every week for a year, course books, and many seminars and workshops for free, plus a waiver of an assignment fee for any properties he passed on. Well, let's see. I got some cheaply made photocopied "books" with backwards and upside-down pages. I got three one-hour phone sessions, and no workshops or further training whatsoever. When I tried to get my money back, PayPal said it was just over the ninety-day refund period. He strings people along to do this. I lost five grand, but many other people lost in the tens or even hundreds of thousands. He goes by Group Dynamics, The Turnkey Investor, and Znergy.com. Group Dynamics and Turnkey Investor are both also legitimate businesses that he has piggy-backed off to appear genuine. He is a thief. He also rebuts sites like this by pretending to be different businesses but never provides a real name or phone number or any contact information except e-mail, where he can easily disguise himself to be other people. You can never reach him at any phone number, and he disconnects his phone numbers often, and they are only voice-mail services. He is a DOG. Buyer beware!!! |
