About JustCloud

JustCloud, at www.JustCloud.com, is a new downloadable program that allows users to backup their files and stores them all online so they can be accessed from anywhere.

JustCloud allows you to select the specific files you want to upload, as well as the option to backup these files on an automatic schedule they recommend, or to tailor a specific schedule of your choosing. In addition you can run manual backups whenever you choose.

According to their website, JustCloud allows anyone to access their files from wherever they are in the world, using a computer or mobile device. They claim this eliminates the need for USB and other storage devices.

JustCloud accounts come with 100% Automated Backup, Secure Encryption to protect your files, and the potential for Unlimited Storage. Registration and download are free to begin.

Once you have downloaded JustCloud, in order to maintain the universal access and automatic backup capabilities of your files, you must have a subscription to their service. Subscription costs range between $6.95 a month for their most basic service, to $9.95 a month for their deluxe service, which includes Unlimited Storage.

JustCloud also allows a wide range of discounted prices for subscribers who are willing to pay for extended subscriptions upfront, rather than choosing the month-to-month plan.

In addition, JustCloud will contact you with other services and offers that you may be interested in, though their Terms and Conditions states that you will never be charged for any product or service without direct notification and approval from you.

JustCloud a missed opportunity

Well I needed a secondary backup service to supplement dropbox. My logic being that all the precious and irreplacable photos and movies etc of my family should not be held in just one backup location.

I looked at JustCloud and they seemed like a good option. I signed up for a year and the sign up process offered be a tantalising discount on year 2, so I signed up for two years.

On setting up the account I received an email from a named contact at the company - a nice touch to make you feel that you have a one to one consistent contact for any queries.

So far, so good.

At work the next day I backed up several home videos and a bunch of photos (my work computer being quicker than my home machine). This went through fine and I had no issuesd with the software which is logical and easy to use.

The problem began when I decided to back up some ad-hoc videos on my home machine at the weekend. I downloaded the software and tried to upload, but couldn't.

Then I realized why. Because to load up these files from a different machine, I needed to buy a second license. You read that correctly I NEEDED TO BUY A SECOND LICENSE.

Let me state here that I am not one of those people who has a tolerance for rip-offs and hidden charges like this, I know when I am being gouged for more money and I simply will not tolerate it. The offer presented to me was to be able to back-up up to 250Gb of data using any device, I found nowhere any info (I am sure it is there though in the small print) that I would need to purchase a second license if I had, i would not have purchased the subscription.

In my disgust I decided to cancel my account on principle. Here's where the fun began. I always think you can judge a company by how it acts when things go wrong. I sent the initial email to them on the 27th April asking for a refund (they have to give you one as they have it advertised on your site). Now admittedly some of their replys ended up in my spam folder, so the exact chain of communication is difficult to establish. One thing was clear though, they have put in place lots of processes to repeatedly email you with more and more offers, to try and keep you from cancelling and seemed to have virtually zero processes in place to actually understand why you are cancelling in the first place (here's a hint guys, rather than begging customers to stay, why not fix the issues that are bugging them in teh first place. In the end I just wanted to scream "...JUST GIVE ME MY FRICKING MONEY BACK ALREADY AND STOP EMAILING ME MORE OFFERS !!"

My refund finally appeared in my account on the 17th May. I consider it a lucky escape, I have decided to get a second dropbox account for my backups as they do what they say and as yet they have not had any hidden charges.

DO NOT USE JUST CLOUD - THEY LOST MY FILES!

Just Cloud have lost my files and their customer service is non-existent, truly bad. Please everyone be aware of the bugs in their system. I was using the sync folder provided by them to store my most important files so I could also use them on my ipad - BIG MISTAKE!

I later found out that some of the files hadn't synced properly with my ipad so in order to fix the problem I dragged the folder back out to my desktop and then back into the sync folder. When I did this all of my most important files just disappeared. I was able to restore some of them from backup, but all the files I created since using the sync folder have been permanently deleted it seems.

When I contacted Just Cloud, they told me they already knew about it, but it wasn't a priority to them as they were concerned with backups not the sync folders. I have now been back several times, but they just keep evading my questions about where my missing files have gone.

I have asked for a full refund and If they aren't able to restore my files I will be seeking legal recompense, as they are needed for my business.

Dreadful service - please no-one use Just Cloud or you may well lose your files.

You give a money back policy but when a refund is requested, you refuse, The only posts you show on your site are promotional posts. Are you concerned about all the negative comments from unhappy customers

Still no change - lots of unhappy customers. These comments get deleted by JC - they'd be better of fixing the problems rather than spend their time on FB all day..

Just Cloud is internet theivery at it's finest. Don't be fooled by their money back policy. Not sure how they are getting their ratings but their billing practices are a financial scam! Do not sign up for their services unless you want to be taken.

and another - the others have been deleted on JCs Facebook page - not a true site! .

I'm using JustCloud (on a mac) with another team member on a PC. The Sync function which is an important product feature for us just plain doesn't work for Macs. We've asked for help from JustCloud, and they acknowledge the bug, but refuse to fix it because Sync capability isn't there main business. Very disappointed in the product and the lack of support.

JustCloud sucks! I canceled this in Feb 2013 and it took forever as they kept emailing sales offers as an alternative to cancellation. I keep emailing them back requesting cancellation until they did. Now in May I find they have continued to bill me for 3 months service - they hadn't cancelled the service and now I'm on their really bad telephone support being told I had a new account set uyp, then it was a mistake and good news it is now cancelled but bad news no refund. Avoid like the plague and go use Dropbox - simpler and better support.

Isn't JustCloud the group that pays 3rd parties for false reviews online so that unsuspecting clients are duped into purchasing their products?

What's Wrong With These People?

Although I bristled at their nickel-and-dime approach to getting more and more money, this seemed to work fine.

One day, my computer had to be replaced,so I switched the license to the new computer and tried to back up the SAME two external drives I had successfully backed up before. When the software complained I wasn't licensed for this, I sent an email to tech support.

They were friendly and quick, but essentially said I'd have to pay money AGAIN to do what I'd ALREADY PAID to do!

I told them I wasn't interested, and they promised to turn me over to their "cancellation department." I'm holding my breath...

I've noticed something else very strange and disturbing. I've been contacted (unsolicited) by a "sister company" called ZipCloud which has a website pretty much identical to JustCloud, and in fact, seem to be closer than just sisters. When looking at another service called MyPcBackup that looked EXACTLY like the other two, I was again contacted (unsolicited again) by ZipCloud. "How many sister companies do you have?" I asked. "Only ZipCloud and MyPcBackup," they responded. "Not JustCloud," I asked. No response. Why are they lying?

Please be aware the whole company is a scam. I had 250Gb for 54£ a year. and this does not allow you to upload any video files you have to pay extra (or manually change extensions of your video files), same for files over 1GB. They claim fastest upload but again for an extra you can get even faster one. If you want to sync more than once a day you need to pay extra. Their service is full of little "extras" that you have to pay additional charges. When i tried to cancel by sending them email (there is no option on the website) saying "please cancel my account and refund" they offered me some extras for free, i said "no, please cancel and refund" they said what about if we give more extras for free? i said "no, please cancel and refund" again. So now they sent me a link! to cancel my account also saying in the email "By not replying your ticket will remain on hold and we will not know you wish to receive refund." ..... i hope i got the picture. Do not use! Edit: there is a cancellation charge of £15 as well. As soon as i requested a confirmation of this charge i got put on hold and after this they have refunded the full amount. Very misleading company.

Little extras here and there make it a bit of a nightmare. No videos unless you pay (unless you are an audio engineer this is ludicrous), even with unlimited storage plan and a year paid upfront. Not sure if it is a scam but certainly they know how to milk your money. Their information is certainly misleading, and would have avoided in the first place otherwise.

Deceptive advertising and more...

First impressions are deceptive, since there's no mention of pricing plans or a trial account on the front page of the JustCloud website until after sign-up. Simply not the kind of action that instills the trust of storing client's data.

Make sure you know what you are buying before giving your card details

When you buy the subscription it is possible to get a offered a 70% discount by "backing out", this is obviously attractive and "pulls you in"

After they have your credit card details they then offer you cost upgrades such as increased speed of backup, increasing sync folder size to more than 1gb (didn't see the limit before) and the ability to backup video files (real surprise, that one).

The real catch here is that there is no way of backing out of the transaction so they have your credit card details and there is no way to cancel your subscription on the website. You have to start an email conversation

Backup speed seems much slower then things like google drive and when I talked to support seems like you can only do about 4-8Gb per 24 hours. So as I have 90GB to backup and they do sequential backups (so they need to load/compare all the files) this would unworkable for me

So I'm trying to get a refund within 3 hours of paying but it's not going well. A future concern is that I also seem to be down for automatic re-billing to my credit card at the end of the year.

So best case is I get the refund, worst case is I don't and have to get a new credit card number

To stop any future transactions, change your address details on their site.
It's just about possible to amend your address on the credit card details without causing any issues with your card provider. I did it twice and didn't understand that when you do that, their system informs the credit card company. I had a phone call from my card provider mentioning that there was an issue with fraud - JC does a test transaction of a few pennies. Because I changed my address twice, it hit a target. So, if you change it once, then that should make any future transactions fail. eg Card and address don't match. (I hope - as not been able to verify!) But if you do change it, make sure you remember it as when you eventually do close the account, you are put through to an american site and they want to know what the current address is. It's poor that JC keep these details and on auto payment too. I don't know how they get away with it!

Buyer beware!!

This company is more than happy to correspond via email to try and help you troubleshoot problems with the backup process. However, when the software fails to backup and there is no fix in sight, and you ask for a refund, no one responds to emails. I just called their phone number which was buried on the website. I spoke with a live person, and after much complaining they finally issued a refund of $250 of $280 total spent on a 3 year plan. At least, that is what they said, and it shows up on the website as my account is cancelled and shows the refunded amount, however, they state it might take up to 10 days to be credited back to my credit card, so who knows if I will really see the refund! Please stay away from this company!!

Just a note, they'll email you in 10 days or so and invite you back. They tell you that you are one of a select few and it's a bonus. Don't click on the links in the email as you are then re-subscribed to them and they take the money out of your account again. If you ignore that email, then they send you another one. Block them if you possibly can.

Not good, they wont refund me when I asked, they just gave it to me for free in the end.
There is no option to delete all my files now in one go, so it's pretty useless to me. The automated support is terrible - it's responsive, but no answers are coming, just more false promises. This is poor, i wouldn't upload all my data on to Justcloud if I were you - very untrusting. I can't remove my credit card details either, they wont let me. It's like they've pinched my wallet and locked me inside. Lots of people commenting on the JC facebook page and JC just deletes them. Except the fake ones hey!

Why no ability to leave no stars?

This site is a total scam. I spent $200 for the package offered with unlimited backup for two years in November, 2012. Apparently I, like others was misled with reviews done by affiliates receiving kickbacks. It worked haltingly for a while and once not at all. I inquired as to why a computer that had died, but been backed up in November, was "running a backup" and freezing out a retrieval. Re-installing the program did work but as of yesterday all my data on that computer was lost an although it was the primary computer at the time the account was established, it was now listed as having no valid license. To do work at the office without disruption I foolishly bought a "additional" license for this for $24.95 but now I realize I have been further scammed as it still appears to have lost the data. No support has been forthcoming despite inquiries. At least I didn't spend $9.95 to get 1 hour support. Despite having three computers paid for and supposedly backed up as of yesterday, the site now says I need to "start backing" up and claims I have never backed up anything on any computer!!! I guess the scammers running this site are laughing their heads off regarding computer neophytes like me but I seem to be in good company with more savvy others who have been lead down this path. Now I'm going to have to get my credit card blocked. Obviously when doing your research only use large impeccable sites that use impartial computer journalists, not affiliated shills.

Hello Robert,

This is a real shame, I know how you feel being scammed and it's been happening for over a year now with others, I regularly keep an eye on this review site and the facebook, many times I click on the report page and highlight scam, but it's not working - but I hope others are doing the same too and facebook takes notice.
I've even emailed the justdevelopit site too with to no avail. They say they are happy to receive feedback, but they don't like negative stuff, they just block you. Awful service from all of them. The only good points I hear appear to be from fake reviews and they don't respond either. Thanks for the review, the more the better if it saves people from losing their data and money. This site is preying on the needy and giving nothing in return. Good luck with the rebuild.

Justcloud is a scam

Scam... I had cancelled the service. One year later, I got 2 charges for services I had cancelled and I didn't reorder (with no warning). When I complained they charged me again. All my data, and more of it than I can remember was still on their server one year after cancellation. Got my refunds through paypal (not through them). Their employees are fake (none on linkedin). Answers are bogus. Software had viruses with backdoors. Worse, they go through your data and will hack your real accounts if they can figure out your passwords. Forget about deleting your data once you manage to cancel your account. They keep it. Not being a real business, they wont let you delete. This is a professional scam.

Does not back up modified files

I develop software for mobile devices so it is critical that any changes to my code is backed up on a daily basis. Unfortunately for the past few weeks I am finding that this is not happening. I started placing 'test' code in a module and checking the next day to see if it was there. To my chagrin, it wasn't. In fact, I found the backups were not happening at all for any of my folders and files. The email support was timely but not productive. Responses were constantly "It will be solved" but hasn't been. I finally started using Google Drive and Mozy's free version so I would have some peace of mind. Justcloud seems to work if I manually do the backup but that is not very convenient. I feel bad for those who can't get refunds for the non-performance of this product. I am not in it very much so will not worry about the money but can see how disastrous it would be for someone who relied upon crucial backups without realizing they were not happening. I will hang in there a while longer and give them the benefit of the doubt since I have put other backup methods in place.

No one should use this service. They have bugs in the sync service and they know about it. I lost all my data when trying to sync a folder. Instead of syncing the files it deleted them all, never to be found again. They caused me so many problems. And the worst is when I contacted them, they knew that this happens. I am appalled and cancelled this service immediately.

Stear clear of this company, looks good but as soon as you pay, you realise you need countless boltons to make the cloud work as you would like.

I asked for a full refund within 5 minutes as advertised on their website, I didnt get it and they eventually refuse to answer my emails

Very true, very unhappy with their service. They claim a lot yet after signing up you quickly realize that the claims are untrue or you have to pay much more. They also claim a 30 day money back guarantee. Still no response after multiple emails. Will have to dispute on the credit card (in retrospect it would have been good to pay attention to their comment "do not dispute the credit bill".

I signed up for the free trial after doing a bit of research on the web about these guys and pretty soon my free trial was up (this was annoying, probably the worst thing about the system is the short trial length) but I held of for a while on upgrading because I'd heard that they give a discount is you wait a while.

Low and behold, 3 days later I was offered a 50% discount on the Unlimited plan I wanted making it less than $5/mo for unlimited backup! You can't really argue with those prices!

Well, for half price I can give you a new shiny bucket. It' s great, looks like new, it's got a great handle on it. oh, it's got a hole in it though, but if you pay me half price you can have it. It's worth 50p, I'll ask for £10.00, and then ask you again for £5.00. It'll do, if you don't expect too much from it. What... you want two! No problem! If you believe that, then you're welcome to just cloud. By the way, was it you that wrote the fake reviews too, by any chance?

How to beat the automated responses.

Hi,
I had problems with these guys and the only way I was able to get a human, non - automated response was to actually write some really rude words in the email.
I was told by them not to be so rude, but then I knew I was talking to a human. I realised I had by-passed their automated systems.
I did the same again and within minutes I was credited my monies owed and I am now a happy ex-justcloud user.
I hasten to add, that I don't usually use those sort of words in a normal email, but after 40 + emails telling them I wanted to close, it just took two rude emails for them to respond.
Worth a try!
For those who think it's worth subscribing, don't. I work in IT and I was fooled big time by fake reviews, fake promises and once they have your credit card details, they will happily re-new any closed account once you click on an email from them.
Another thing, they may even offer it to you for free, and give you free addons, this will cost you next year!

same runaround as others

the software didnt work and i have asked for my money back in 16 different emails now. they keep giving me the runaround and i am now having my bank do a chargeback to get my money.

stay away from them and all their other companies thy are doing business under as well. they have fake reviews on the web and are just shady people.

STAY AWAY FROM JUSTCLOUD

I signed up and paid nearly 250.00 usd for a one year planthen realized I justcloud could not support the file size I needed. I promptly asked for my account to be cancelled. This is over 1 week ago and they have not confirmed the cancellation. I'm deeply confused and shocked at their behavior.

I've filed this now with my bank. Lets see what happens.

I deeply advise you to AVOID justcloud.
