John Commuta Reviews

Is 'Transforming Debt into Wealth' Legit or a Scam?

John Commuta advertises his course, Transforming Debt into Wealth, online and through many radio commercials. He claims that he can teach people how to not only eliminate debt but learn how to make sound investments and set up additional streams of income.

John Commuta is also an avid speaker and has hosted seminars for big names such as Tony Robbins and the Learning Annex.  However, he is still most recognized for the Transforming Debt into Wealth System.

As far as his debt management techniques are concerned he offers standard and sound advice.  In reality there is no secret to getting out of debt, it is a matter of organizing, prioritizing, and serious saving.

Once you have set a monthly budget for yourself and have organized all your debts there are various strategies for the order of paying off your debts.  For example debt management coach, David Ramsey, advises to pay of the smallest debt first in order to benefit from the satisfaction of eliminating a debt.

Other debt management specialists will urge you to calculate out the interest rates per debt and develop a long term plan that will save you more money.  Regardless of which plan you choose the most important part is sticking to it and not breaking your discipline.

In regards to the Wealth aspect of John Commuta's course it's not as comprehensive as it could be.  He offers some suggestions like starting an online Internet Marketing business and there is also a section on profiting from Real Estate.

These are decent pointers but he's talking about complex industries which would require a lot more information and direction in order for you to see profits.  Thus, you shouldn't expect extraordinary results from John Commuta but a typical system for cutting down unnecessary spending and focusing on paying of debts.

I send for the "Free" materials agreeing to paying the S & H,they mentioned a charge if started program with a counselor. Then I get a $79.99 charge on my CC (actually was 2nd one I had missed seeing the 1st one till later) which I never agreed to Nor did the guys that called ever mention a charge but told them now was not a good time to talk for had too much going on plus was driving.
I called the Nicole who Does Not Listen only tells U they have a recording of me agreeing to the charges, Which they do NOT!
Then noticed they charged me again, I have FedXed their Unopened material back & am sending a letter to John Commuta, Salem Communications & Tx A. G. Abbott
I do NOT appreciate Scammers & those who prey on others for their wealth!

I ordered this product to try it out and didn't get a chance to even look at it so before my 30 days were up I called to get a returns authorization number.

They were really nice and told me since I didn't get a chance to look at it, they would extend my trial period. So once my extended trial period was coming to an end, I once again called to get a returns authorization number and made it clear to them that I could NOT afford to pay $400+ for the system.

I returned the product in the timely fashion and 2 months later I get a bill in the mail for the first installment of $119.96 stating that the card number that I gave them was not working.

Then a week later I seen a charge on my account so I called them right away to straighten the mess out. I talked to Nicole and she said that she could see that I requested a returns authorization number but the product where never returned to the warehouse. She also said that she stopped any further charges but could not give me a refund unless I provided a Delivery Confirmation number to them.

I told her that I did not keep my receipt from the post office since it was over 2 months ago that I sent the product back and she would not give me a refund. After I hung up with her I searched thru my receipts and thankfully found my delivery confirmation receipt so I called her back with the number and she admitted that they DID receive the product back!

Seriously?!! You just called me a liar cuz I couldn't provide you with a delivery confirmation and then here you tell me that you DID receive the product in the warehouse!!! She told me that I would get my money refunded within 24-48 hours so now all I can do is wait and see if they do that for me. This is a total scam!

If I would not have found my USPS Delivery confirmation receipt then I would have been screwed out of some serious amount of money! If you did order this product already, make sure you keep a paper trail record of EVERYTHING until you are sure you are not loosing money from your account! And Nicole was VERY RUDE on the phone!

This outfit will scam you out of $400.00 before you know it. It was supposed to be free to look at it and they charged me $6.00 postage. When the person called me to review my interest I told them I had not looked at it yet and to call me back. He didn't and I waited for his call. Meanwhile, 30 days transpires and then they start billing my credit card 5 installments of $79.99. Had the person called me back in a timely fashion I would have told him I was not interested and returned the box of information. Now I out two installments to them and all they would do is reduce it by $75.00. So I lost $325.00 due to their person failing to call me timely. Its a scam and they know it. Don't fall for their tactics!!!

I called to return his "system" when my wife ordered it, Even though she told them not to send it after they got her card info. Nicole the woman who answered the phone copped an attitude when I told her my wife did not want it. She asked why did we sign for it. It was left at the door. Then she told me I did not know what was said since I was not on the phone call. My wife is NOT a liar. I would not recommend a company who infers such things to anyone

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read these reviews before purchasing this product. If it sounds too good to be true, then it almost always is. I called and had them send the $6.95 s/h "book" (30-day trial) and intended to read it and see if it would help my finances. Bottom line is I was out of town for most of the 30 days, never got a chance to read it (it's really a dvd, not a book), and called too late to return it (mea culpa). After I saw the $119.96 charge, I called and spoke to Nicole (see other reviews above!) and she was completely unwilling to allow the product to be returned and assured me that I would be expecting the additional 4 $119.96 charges for the next 4 months. I told her that I could not afford that, never intended to receive nor allow charges for the additional products they sent, but she was completely unwilling to accept the return at this point. "The product is now nonreturnable" she kept repeating. They will send you extra junk that you never wanted, and not allow any way out. Even after I explained that te intent of this program was to get myself OUT of debt, not MORE into debt, she didn't care. Getting you out of debt is not John Commuta's vision. If it was, then he would work with a distributor that was more willing to provide reasonable customer service. I even offered to accept the initial charge as a loss, and return the rest, but they will not budge other than offering me $100 off the total price of something that I told her I now absolutely do not want. Poor, poor service.

His method has been proven time and time again... I thought the charge for the course was WAY too much, so I looked for it on eBay and found it there for under $20... The only thing I didn't get was the printouts that go with it, no big deal as he tells you how to set it up anyway... The only thing I can say is that when you think about buying something like this look around and you most likely will find it cheaper some place else, and eBay is a great place to look for these types of things and books too.
Good Luck!

As far as not knowing what I was getting into, that was not true. I was aware that by keeping the CDs that I would be responsible for a $350+ bill.

While the information was not particularly new, it did help me to see the basic mistakes I was making in my finances. The rest is pretty basic math. The problems begin when you pay your bill--or rather attempt to pay your bill--multiple times!

My bill was for $354.90. When I called and paid the bill (or thought I had), I had given them my personal account information. Three weeks later, I received a PRE COLLECTION NOTICE informing me to pay the $354.90 or face collections.

I called the number on the notice and they were less than helpful. I again gave them the information needed to pay the bill in full. I have just received yet another PRE COLLECTION NOTICE for the account, but this time the amount is $349.95.

I checked with my bank, and none of the previous payments were ever applied to my account! What's with the $4.95 difference? How many times must I pay the same bill? I have closed my account and instructed my bank NOT to pay the request if it comes through. The credit agencies have also been contacted regarding this bill and an alert has been issued.

In his CD set, John talks about credit being the enemy. By the way, he wants you to pay for his information via a credit card. Isn't that like consorting with the enemy?

He also talks about the "gang of four". Believe me, the "gang of four" has nothing on this guy. I'll give him a break on the product, but the service is dreadful. Keep records and be aware.

I am shocked to hear such reviews. The reality is you guys want to make money at your job which has to sell some sort of product to give you that job but anyone that makes money from a product they sell is ripping you off. Everyone that has complained about John's system has not even gone through the system. You have to try something before you can say you don't like it. My husband and I were 6 figures in debt and jumping from credit card to credit card just to service. He lost his job and we had 4 children at the time. It was hard. When he got another job we had gotten into a lot of debt and did not know how to get out. With John's system we now only have our house , one car and 2 credit cards still to pay off. It has been a blessing to have something to give us a direction and help us stay on track. We got a call to help us personally but we saw that the system they sent was so self explanatory that we could manage on our own. So they left us alone after that. We have helped other friends and family with how to get out of debt from what we have learned. It really works and we are so thankful for finding it. I would say paying $300 to get ride of 6 figures is worth every penny.

WOW, am I ever glad I found this website. Even more so since I've read all of these posts. After hearing those radio ads for so long, I copied down the # and called today. Well, the lady seemed nice enough....she took my name and address right off the bat, so I figured it would be quick and painless to get the "free" CD. Well, she kept on making conversation for an unusually long time.....and then she dropped the bomb: something to the effect of "The free CD doesn't tell you anything.....you need the whole program....and by the time you get the free CD, our special offer will be over....blah, blah, BLAH..." I had to basically tell her, "sorry, I thought that FREE meant FREE, but I figured there'd be a catch, so no thanks, have a nice day".....and hung up. Thank GOD I didn't give her my debit/credit card info. After reading all of these posts, I'm kind of paranoid that they've got my phone # and are going to keep harassing me. And, as for all of the "positive" reviews I see posted here....one word: FAKE. Thank you all for the warnings, and if you've been scammed, please complain to the BBB. It will make a difference!

I Knew Better;-(   More in debt in the USA

3:51pm on September 28th, 2011

I knew better, but I did it any way. One day I will listen to my gut instinct. I couldn't help but hope that there may be some information out there I was missing that John Commutta could give me. I was wrong. The information was as basic as anything. It is stuff we all know already. I sent the product back and all they will do is issue me a "store credit". I was never told this when I purchased the product. I even called and got a return authorization code.

When I called the first time to try to fix this issue, Nicole was less than helpful. She talked over me, wouldn't listen and refused. When I pressed the issue, she hung up on me. I called back again & had the opportunity to speak with Jessica. What a piece of work! I wanted to get copies of my previous conversations to see where I missed the information about the store credit. She told me it was impossible to get any conversation other than the original sales call. As I pressed the issue about the return, she said she would pull up my call from when I requested the return code. Now wait a minute--that wasn't a sales call, I thought you couldn't get to any other call than that one! Liar! When I called her on it, she started telling me that I had a problem and obviously had too much time on my hands and was so bored that all I had to do was call and harass everyone there.

Every conversation with anyone at TDIW left me feeling like they were being condescending to me--like because I was seeking information/help, I was not as good as them.

Do they have information to give? Yes--but its information you can get for free. My mistake for having hope in something.... Now im stuck with two payments on my credit card that they refuse to refund me and no product either!

DON'T FALL FOR THIS! SAVE YOURSELF THE MONEY AND FRUSTRATION!

I sent it back without even opening the box. I got lured into ordering by the commercial stating that some guy "paid off my 30 year mortgage in 2.5 years!". Then I thought that maybe the guy only had 2.5 years left on his 30 year mortgage. I make over $200K/yr, and when I put pen to paper, there was no way that I could "pay off my mortgage in 2.5 years" unless that was the only bill I paid for 2.5 years. People, the best financial advice this man can give is to LIVE WITHIN YOUR MEANS. Pay your bills, set aside 10% a week for a rainy day or fund an IRA, but DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHAT YOUR NEIGHBOR HAS/DOES. You can do it.

I bought the system over a year ago. I am still waiting to hear from someone. There is a promise to connect you with debt counselor, never happened. There have been multiple emails and calls, but no help yet. Ordering this system was a big mistake.

Wow, I am scared after reading all this. Why didn't I check it out first online before calling? I have canceled my debit card, but it is the holiday weekend and I can't call the bank. I thought I would just refuse it or return it unopened but that doesn't sound like it will work. Is this going to be an expensive lesson? I can't really remember what they said I would be charged after 30 days because I intend to mail it back...What have I done? seems like they said 5 payments of 79.99 or was it 89.99? It might force me to follow the program, knowing how stupid I was for calling them without googling them first.

I've heard his ads, and as soon as he starts with the premise that the banks are "organized crime", he's destroyed all credibility in anything he says. The ad is a fallacy right off the bat. "Ooh, the banks are ripping you off!" Really? with a 5-6% interest rate? What about credit cards? Now that ought to be illegal!

I called to cancel 1 day after 30 days. Now I have to pay a lot of money for something just sits in my drawer.
I asked for a book not software. My computer has 9 years. It cannot open & download software.I was promised a book of 200 pages. I called so many times the 800 # and after 15 min of not answering I would hang up. The minutes add up on a cell phone. On my 31 day they answered right away. No one can do anything to get our money back?

NoMoreDebt   LiberatedFromDebt

To me, this program is not a scam. I purchased the program for $249.99 and feel it's worth every penny. I also had problems with the software. I called. They sent me a different CD-ROM, and a printed manual. They have been nothing but supportive and helpful. Yes, the information is bit of common knowledge. Want to lose weight? Eat a proper diet and exercise. Want to get out of debt? Stop spending and pay off your debt. This program taught me the self discipline and the order in which to pay things off. I tried to figure it out on my own but was unsuccessful despite earning over $80,000 and living moderately simple. My wife and I used to argue about paying bills. Hers-Mine-Ours etc. Not anymore. We work as a team, follow the plan, and have money left over. We've paid off over $4200 worth of debt in just over 4.5 months and once we start paying off our house, we'll be COMPLETELY debt free in under 5 years. I'm sorry to hear that others feel like they've been scammed. The program works for me and I've helped 2 of my friends get on the program too. -I taught it to them, and they're loving it too.
