Screws employers, and assist fraudent freelancers
Lost months of time, 500 usd and got a creep giving us a really nasty review hitting on SEO.
We unfortunately hired a fraudster USAGraphicsPro on Freelancer.com
After weeks of delay and no activity on our project it is finally rushed through in 4 days. (the deadline was 8 days, set by the guy him self).
We got absolutely nothing of what we asked for.
In the end we did not get the refund nor the files - as he claims on we did on Freelancer.com
Only after opening second dispute he actually got to do some work.
We can write books about this fraudster and his behavior - and later Freelancers lack of assisting in anything, before, during and after the disputes. (we also filed some violation reports - with absolutely no results or reply - simply nothing).
Bottom line is:
Freelancer has NO interest in helping the employers.
The employers may open a single project and then no more, either because they don't need more or because they have fled the scene.
The freelancers, like usagraphicspro, are the ones making money on and for Freelancer.com - so Freelancer.com has a financial interest in protecting the fraudant freelancers and not helping the employers.
Here is a hint on how to make big money online, in no time, without lifting a finger:
Sign up as freelancer on Freelancer.com
Bid on a lot of projects.
When you win a project:
Claim your milestone (preferably as big a milestone as possible), then stall the employer for at least a month (this way he can no longer stop his payment via paypal/creditcard).
Send a poor result to the employer, who will then open a dispute - this will buy you even more time to catch other fools.
Make sure you also make employer profiles as time passes, you will need them regularly to pretend you also have happy customers.
You can be certain Freelancer.com will not lift a finger to stop you - they make money on your scam.
I am currently using Freelancer.com to find part time work from home. I am trying it out to see if the employers are legitimate and do they really pay? I'm a serious applicant and would love to work with your company. I would like to see if my skills fit your company and maybe strike a deal without freelancer. Please respond to my post with contact information and I will send you my resume. I found your comments as I am researching freelancers reviews on how the company really operates. Thank you!
where u from and whar r ur skills

Half of the coders that I hired were just scam artists
I used RentaCoder, then vWorker and just tried to continue with that strategy by using Freelancer.com. However, the experience is very different. Besides the non-intuitive interface the coders may not even be coders. I had one guy offer to do the work then insist on getting more money than he had bid after I had accepted his bid and not contacted other coders.
Freelancer.com support was not willing to help even when I told them that I thought it was fraud. Three times freelancer.com support has closed my support tickets without doing anything, ANYTHING!
If you loved RAC/ vWorker, then consider Elance.com and/ or oDesk.com. They're my best services (I work as both freelancer and employer).
Hi Craig,

Hidden Fees
I have hired over 100 people over the past 5 years through many different websites such as oDesk, PeoplePerHour, and eLance and let me say Freelancer has got to be the worst out of them all. They are no where compared to any of the sites I mentioned above. Freelancer only cares about making their money and disregard any dispute resolution you may have.
They require you to add a credit card on file on their website (not a problem with me) but then charges your account without your permission.
For example: They upgraded my account to premium a few weeks ago, and the last time I used their service was 5 months ago!
Their website structure makes it easy for you to send payment. I mean really easy. Just click on a two word text and you will send a payment. There is no additional page where you can review your payment or confirmation whatsoever. Check your bank account and there are 2 transaction made. One for that total amount and one for the fee (average $3~).
Ask your freelancer how much they charge him? Took about 30% of his payment and charges a withdrawal fee and hold his payment for about a week.
O also, they charge to post projects and charge freelancers to buy additional bids.
If you have a dispute, they can't do anything. They will tell you that its best for you to work things out with the freelancer.
They regularly implement new fee structures so be sure to regularly read through the fine prints on their terms of condition.
The first transaction I made in freelancer. $50 and it sucks instantly a couple of dollars away before I even paid my freelancer. I usually NEVER post any negative comment about a site, but I am totally pissed off. You post a project on Freelancer.com and immediately get 15 to even 30 bids. 95% are from Indian, who happen to have an office in America too, so they change their country to USA. These scammer bid on every single project they can, even when they don't have sufficient skills. And when you award the project to them, they will start figuring out and tell you where they are from.
The freelancer put my site down for 4 days, really unprofessional. I drive more120.000 unique visitors a month. He promised to get it done in 1 day. Four days later, it was still not finished and my site totally screwed up. I had it restore by my hosting and then still there were crappy error codes that I needed to recover, which took me hours at night to fix this. Called Freelancer.com for immediate support. I asked for protection, the same you can get from Ebay or Elance. Now, Freelancer will not give you any support, because they are just a money sucking online venue, who doesn't care whether they have quality freelancer or not. As long as you pay and they can make money. What a B.S., freelancer should be responsible for anything happen on their site, and the service they provide, which is LINKING the right freelancer to the right project.
After having had multiple issues with Freelancer (see all comments above and below) I decided to withdraw my funds to discover that the system wouldn't let me take it all out (a mere £50.32) AND that I would be charged £1 to transfer the money back to my Paypal Account. What crooks! Never again!
Hi guys,
This is Abe from Freelancer.com. I understand that you have encountered numerous issues on our site. We hope you won't mind, but can you please send me an email at [email protected] so I can take a look into them and resolve them if possible?

Freelancer.com is taking away your money!
Among dozens of won contests, I have participated in a contest on Freelancer.com in December 2012. The contest was "guaranteed", which should tell that the prize WILL be shared between top freelancers based on design ratings, even if no winner might be selected. The prize of the contest was $690, and since the contest was "guaranteed", I have put my best efforts in it to make a decent video for Contest Holder, and even hired a 3D designer to design certain elements of video. I was the one among 2 other contestants. I have never heard back from the contest holder and got no private message in return ever since.
The contest end date was 31st of December 2012.
After exactly one month of contest end date, my account was deducted by $11.50, which is exactly 5% (standard membership freelancer fee) of $230, which is exactly the third of $690. But my $230 is nowhere to be found. I have contacted Freelancer.com customer support and got a feeling that I was chatting with a robot instead of human being. Instead of getting answers to my questions, I got thrown at with a bunch of side things that have nothing to do with my problem. All they were saying is that they are unable to disclose any more information due to circumstances and that they cannot disclose any information for security purposes, although I have clearly stated that I have made all the screenshots regarding my issue.
At some point they will tell me that a locked contest can occur when: - a refund is requested. I asked them if they refunded the prize to contest holder, but got the same answer as before.
I have been reading about scams Freelancer.com is capable of doing and found out that this is not the first time FREELANCER.COM IS TAKING AWAY YOUR MONEY INSTEAD OF DEALING WITH THEIR PROBLEMS IN ORDER TO CLEANSE THEMSELVES.
This is a screenshot of the contest while it was locked:
http://zveki.com/work/freelancer.gif
Here it is now:
https://www.freelancer.com/contest/contest.php?project_id=12274
This is a screenshot of my transaction history page:
http://zveki.com/work/freelancer2.gif
They simply shut my mouth and deleted the contest.
So, after seeing this, I have lost all the confidence in so-called "guaranteed" contests, and no matter what is the prize, I will hardly participate in one of them again. Freelancer.com should really ask themselves what a term "guaranteed" actually means. Unfortunately for me - absolutely nothing.
Sue the MF's. This is what all the victims should do!!! Today they withdrew 5-6 dollars from my PayPal without me authorizing, or interacting with anything at all.
Immediately opened a dispute, reclaimed my money and deleted the billing agreement they had inconspicuously put with my PP account( was somewhere in the PP settings - watch out).
Hi Zveki,
This is Abe from Freelancer.com. I understand that you had issues with a Guaranteed Contest that was locked by our system.
Please note that contest are locked due to the following reasons:
- a refund is requested (only for Regular)
- it violates contest terms and conditions or
- unexpected issues that arise
I would be more than glad to explain the other two possible reasons but would not be able to explain what happened to the contest that you are referring to due to our Privacy Policy.
Just send me an email at [email protected] if you wish to discuss this.
I will wait for your email.
Thanks,
Abe

Freelancer scam
Hi,
I'm Abe from Freelancer.com. We do address legitimate concerns from site users quickly and effectively, but the truth is that a good number of the people complaining about being scammed by our site turn out to be con artists and frauds themselves:

If you have other issues or concerns, you may send an email to [email protected] and I'd be happy to help.

Do not even try it
Yes, as the title says, don't even try this website.
Freelancer is made only to make money, and so, to steal your money.
Then, in this website regroups all the scammers.
SCAM, SCAM, and SCAM again.
Prefer working with oDesk, Elance, etc., but of course, scammers are everywhere, so just be aware.
So to finish this message, Freelancer was one of my nightmare.

Sharks and Scam
Hi,
I spent there more than three months I could not get a single job.
Most of the jobs are fictitious, projects are cancelled, closed and disappear. Also I saw very suspicious responses from employers, very good English for the advert and later horrible English spelling in the PMB; it is not possible for the same person, and finally projects are closed.
That is the reason they need to get money from contractors, via testing skills and membership upgrade, because projects are not real so they do not get 10% of them.
The few real projects, if they exist at all, are taking from people with reputation, if you are new there is no chance at all to get a contract, never ever, so people find friends to contract themselves and get reputation.
Also they cheat you when selecting the skills, they are really mean, If you do not choose all the skills you can at first, then later you are limited and cannot add more skills until next month, unless you pay, of course.
And when you sign they hide information, you do not know their commission, rules,.., nothing. And you have to get their spam mail every day, no opt-out option.
The worst is the time you waste, not just the money.
Really trust me, stay away from them, as far as possible.
cheers!!
oDesk.com, Elance.com… are better services.
Well, I just made the terrible mistake to create an account at freelancer.com. When I was creating my profile, I was suggested to make a test to prove my abilities and therefore have more changes to get a job.
When I started one of the suggested tests I got an email from Paypal informing me I had paid 5USD for taking the exam!! I got so mad for paying I contacted Paypal to understand what was going on. When I got back to Freelancer webpage my unfairly paid test had timed out and I got a terrible score stamped on my profile (and couldn't even delete it!!!!) total SCAM.
I am working on freelancor and I can make money , 400 UDS at month, I never did exams, I just do the projects if they choose me, that website is awesome
Mohamadreza, I too have made money on Freelancer, but just wait until you have a problem. I bet you won't be saying they are awesome. and I BET you will have a problem.
Hi Dan,
This is Abe from Freelancer.com. I understand that winning your first project can be hard but it is possible. I would highly recommend that you review our articles on how to write an effective bid: http://www.freelancer.com/news/articles-providers-89.html. Another recommendation we can give you is to complete some of the exams that are related to your skills in order to highlight your expertise to potential employers.
In any case, please feel free to send me an email at [email protected] along with the details of your concern so I can address them personally.
I will wait for your email.
Thanks,
Abe
Trojan Horse of NWO
Funny story, but I really don't think it has to be that complicated.
This KISS principle applies here: Freelancer.Com is just a scam, run by dishonest people.
Yes, some real work does happen through Freelancer.Com, but the issue is the problems Freelancer.Com doesn't protect against.

worst of all contracting sites
I have spend considerate time (and money) on the 3 main contracting sites (oDesk, elance, freelancer) and it really isn't close - freelancer.com is the worst one by far.
.) the quality of the bids is beyond bad. I am writing rather specific technical projects, and the vast majority of bids are similar to "i understand what to do, i can do this, i can start immediately". You also get bad bids on other sites, but there they are the exception, not the norm.
.) the search for contractors is completely useless, which is of course intentional because you need to post a project and pay for it.
i once got a mail from "my personal concierge" asking me if she could help me. i told her yes, she could provide me a list of possible contractors with the following qualifications (as said, the search is useless so you cant't do it on your own). she then provided me two names, one hasn't worked for 2 years, the other one for 5 years. i told her to leave me alone.
.) freelancer.com is the only site which charges you to hide projects from search engines, or to delete a past project.
.) the user interface can only be considered a joke. but a site which uses "experience points" and "level ups" to make it look like a game when all you want to do is to use it for business, says enough.
odesk and elancer are by far better, and i am missing scriptlane which has unfortunately been bought by freelancer.

Freelancer.com is Scam 100%
What is your username on Freelancer?

He he, look at this, they are so badly reviewed so they need someone to erase these bad reviews by helping some freelancers one by one when they post their SOS on the web...
Why didn't your idiot support service help this guy?
He needed to write here, in this website, or maybe on other ones, to be heard by someone...
I'd so like to program a big trojan to kill all your servers... Oh yeah... But I couldn't, and will never do it.
Just want to prevent others, stay away from Freelancer.com, I'm sure it was funded by these Indians, again...
Jayke, they probably nevre did help him. Like you said, it was just so it would look good up here.
Freelancer.com sure is dodgy
So we decided to run through our paypal account for a normal audit, and what do we see ? 9 transactions from freelancer, and we haven't even done anything !
Support... you cant't call it that, couple of people reading text and responding with a lengthy standard format in seconds, ie, already pre written, probably for the masses that have the same questions.
Onto account cancellation, their site says you can cancel at anytime, but fails to tell you how, and support dribble on about downgrading on the site, which we did, and guess what, it didn't work.
We posted one project, this apparently failed their policy, fair enough, but we don't think the deduction of $8.57 from us because of it. Their answer..... ha ha.... the fee is because it costs them money to list on google, which they do every 30 minutes.
Refund ? forget it, its their bread an butter, probably already spent.
Our advice, steer well clear in every respect, unless you enjoy being taken to the cleaners.
Thanks for the review....if only I read it a few weeks ago! This mirrors my experience with them as well.

Valerie, could you tell me why do you care when customer complaints publicly, not before? Apart from that, what happens when a customer left Freelancer.com feeling scammed, but didn't raise this issue on public forum?
Chaim, It looks like Valerie came up here one day, spammed a canned message (just like they do with their normal support) and never came back... and so far, I have not seen a single response like "Thanks for SOLVING my problem Valerie".
Does this not confirm everything all these people are saying about Freelancer.Com by Freelancer.Com itself!! Couldn't ask for better proof.

Scam
Dear, friends. Be careful. They are scam. I was robbed some times in total about 2,5k $. They take money without any reasons after some period 2-3 months after payments. Support is the dumbest. Only simple answers as bot. Many fake projects where they ask for take exams for money. Many customers with 0 reviews which asked for your personal emails or skype. It is a hidden staff. They ask your personal info: passport, credit card with all digits and even security 3 digit! They are thieves. After some time they will get money from your card! They take money after you accept project, but if customer ignored pay escrow they would ignore your asking for help.
Never trust to them!
Best regards, Denis.
oh friend thank you i was paying already but i was hesitating if the site is legit or scam now i know thank you so muck
Hi Denis, I'm Valerie Scott from Freelancer.com. I came across your comment about some transaction concerns on another website and I'll post our reply here as well. Freelancer.com Stole $ 14000 from me
I have been a member of Freelancer.com since November 2012 and my total account balance was $ 14000. When I tried to withdraw the money, my account was blocked for 'suspicious activity' and my account balance has now been reduced to $ 99.15
Some one please tell me how to get my hard earned money out of this scam website.
I am contemplating legal action as well. Please advise about that as well. If there are more users here who have the same issue, please contact me.
I'm on the same situation, can the FBI do something like they did to Megaupload, freelancer.com people are criminals, I'm a freelancer, I just finished a project and my current balance is 750, and this morning I just got an alert that says my account will be cancelled, what I did? the client was very very happy with the deliverable but why freelancer.com is deleting my account, help FBI, Interpol, can somebody do something? get their money (ours), they have robbed billions from a lot of people.
Hi Sad freelancer, I'm Valerie Scott from Freelancer.com. I understand that you've been having some issues with your account, and I wanted to know if the problem has already been resolved. If not, then let me help you. I'll be able to assist you if you kindly give me your user ID so we can look into it and help you fix the issue right away. I hope to hear from you soon.

Hi "Valerie Scott from Freelancer.com".
Do you think posting a user ID here, in public, would be a good thing to do ?
I think "Valerie Scott" is a scammer trying to dig some gold for herself.
Valerie if you want to make money - then check out the post I made further up. In short sign up as freelancer on Freelancer.com and start to scam people there.
That will, if you agree to share a buck or two with freelancer.com make you rich fast.
I think posting a user id would be complete safe...
because as soon as it's posted, Freelancer.Com will simply DELETE the account and be rid of that "problem" customer who posted something bad about them!
Customer cheating
I am very disappointed using freelancer.com.
I put money in deposit and they mislead me that I can use some free extra options (rewards). After I did, they stole my money from deposit and send credit charge to my paypal account!!! I did not even know that paypal account can be credited without my authorization with password!!!
Their service says that I should have navigated through multiple menus and activate my rewards, but it is simply cheating customers. Now I still have rewards in my account, but they stole my money!!!
I hope that someone will take legal action and close freelancer.com swindlers.
Hi Andy, this is Valerie Scott from Freelancer.com. I understand that you've had some billing concerns, and I'd be glad to assist you. If you want, you may give me your user ID so I can help you in fixing your problems right away. I'm hoping to hear from you soon. Thank you.
