Bright Builders Reviews

Bright Builders is a company that offers several different services to people in need of an online business.  Primarily, they focus on building an ecommerce or store front website that will allow you to sell a multitude of products.

Another side to Bright Builders is eBay tools, they offer training and support in getting your  products on the popular auction site.  They claim that with their services and expertise anyone can have a booming internet business.

The problem that I have with BrightBuilders.com is the prices that they charge for a website and, some seemingly, basic internet marketing training.  Customers have reported paying anywhere between 6 and 9 thousand dollars.  In my opinion that is excessive and I know for a fact that there are cheaper services available.

BrightBuilders have also faced some customer complaints that have been reported throughout the internet.  Mostly they are from folks that have bought the service and have not seen any profits from their websites.

With these types of complaints it's hard to know whether the person failed due to a lack of effort, or because the system itself is flawed.  Regardless of what advertisements may claim developing an online business takes time, hard work, and perseverance whether you're on your own or working with Bright Builders.

The fact of the matter still is that paying thousands of dollars for an online business is way to much.  Below are some recommendations for tools that can help you build a successful website without costing an arm and a leg, (Under $300).

There are other materials that you may need along the way like marketing and SEO books.  You can pick them up as your needs arise and all those services bought separately will still cost a fraction of what Bright Builders charges.

For folks with beginner computer skills you can work with companies that provide a similar service to BrightBuilders.com but for much cheaper.

They charged me about 8K to set this up and 29.95 a month for maintaining. I have been with them for about 5 years and have yet to see a big return. My chief complaint is there software program is nearly impossible to use. There are so many idiosyncrasies in the program. If you know a little html you can get around some of them. In my case, however, I have had rely on the so called technical people to make some things right. The problem is, the program does not give you the expected result in all instances so you have to settle for what you get. Even the technical people have problems with this thing. They also have a weird billing practices. They are supposed to bill once a month, but often bill more often, causing a great deal of confusion. Personally, I have just about had it with them.

I signed up for Bright Builders three years ago, and basically have not done anything with it the last two years. They pushed really hard to get me to pay with my credit card, and I am still paying on that, which was almost $7,000. I diligently did the lessons, but most of it was motivational, which, after 23 years of being self-employed, I didn't really need. The coaching sessions were not very instructional, either, mostly how to use the computer. I feel that they preyed on my computer illiteracy and my desire to open an avenue to business on the internet. I was on the eleventh coaching session where you were supposed to set up a web site, but I had no viable product(s) to sell yet, so I stopped. It was then I realized that I had to keep paying the $30.00 hosting fee or I would have no access to utilizing any of their services, despite the large amount of money I had paid. I kept paying that for a year, until I realize what a drain that was, and I still had nothing for them to host. I am now ready with product(s) in hand that I feel would work in the internet realm, but am very unsure whether to go back to Bright Builders and get "hooked" into their dubious services or seek better help elsewhere. Either way, I wish I could get some of my money back. As a single homeschooling mom, that sure would help.

It took the salesman about half a dozen phone calls before he finally hooked me. I kept asking "what if I don't make any money?" He assure me that they did NOT have anyone who didn't at least break even on their "investment". He told me that they would support my efforts until I hit the break even point. I read over my lessons and tried to work with their site builder software. Each week I spoke with my "coach", a motivational speaker I assume. When I'd become discouraged he tried to "pump me up", telling me that I have to have faith in my abilities and that I must think positively going forward. I was told to make a list of items I would be interested in selling. We reviewed them and through my own research I found most of my ideas were already being done. He did give me a few websites where you can set up an account and purchase items at "discounted" prices. There was even one foreign company where you could buy bulk lots of "junk". After the 12 weeks of coaching I was told by my coach that he wasn't authorized to continue with me unless I got authorization from Bright Builders. Plus, on top of the $9,000.00 they charged me for this hype they wanted the $30.00 a month hosting fee which I refused. They then locked me out of the web builder software. And, NO, I never even got close to breaking even. The only thing that happened was that I sold so many items from my home on ebay for much less then they were worth. And I did it with Auctiva web builder, much more friendly than Bright Builders ebay sales site.
Has anyone else noticed that Utah is home to a large number of "credit card" companies and other businesses that are of questionable tactics? This was about 4 years ago. I have recently been helping a friend who build a very successful web business. It took thousands of dollars in advertising in trade magazines as well as fees to Google and Yahoo for better search results. It isn't cheap and it isn't so easy that even a caveman can do it.

Bright Builder sold me a program with a guarantee of success putting in 8-10 hours a week. I worked many more hours than that. I did what I was shown, but there were many problems with their software. I told them I was extremely unsatisfied about the way the editor was working:

* the editor doesn't update the site every time I make changes and hit update causing me to do the same work over and over again.

* I had no guide lines or blueprint as to how to get the site to look professional.
* Since I am unable to make most critical changes and fix the myriad of technical issues myself I am forced to rely on your customer support representative who is very difficult to get in touch with because of time zone differences.

It is apparent that their software is not sufficient for the site I need. Bright Builders is in breach of contract and I want a full return of my money, because they have not delivered on the agreement and what you promised. There software is antiquated and there was no teaching about marketing which is the most difficult thing to do. The building of a site can be done easily through Go Daddy or Yahoo it's the learning about marketing the site that ranks you good enough to get traffic which turns into cash flow. I started with Bright Builders in June of 2008 and I am now working with another company. The new company is not much better and I will report them if I don't see results shortly. I will not give up and continue with sorting out the bad business tactics, but in this country when an agreement is not fulfilled, they are in breech of that contract. I was verbally guaranteed that I would make my initial money that I laid out for the program in just over 1 year. It is now 2 years and I had One Sale.... I have learned nothing from them, all that I know now is through my own research. As soon as I get all the knowledge I need I will write an ebook for people to learn how to do this on their own!Step by step! for little money.

Thank you
Brenda

Ok, I typed a little too fast on what I wrote previously. I guess my coupon option was NOT taken away and I do still have unlimited amount of pages. It's just the newer people who will be affected with the new upgraded websites. I'm still upset about the monthly hosting fee though. I pay 30.00 every month for hosting fees when other people are paying 8.00.

I am so upset at Bright Builders. First of all it's the same story as everybody else on how I was approached and promised to make millions. I tried getting my money back and couldn't do it. I was also approached about the LLC scam and how I needed a bookkeeper etc. etc. etc. I was dumb to get a bright builders webpage but I wasn't dumb to saying no about the LLC and the bookkeeping.
I worked hard and never gave up and now I have a great business going except for the flaws in my website that won't get fixed. 2NDly what I'm really upset about right now, is the way they "upgraded". I had unlimited amount of pages on my website and a coupon option where I could create coupons for my store. All of a sudden, they upgrade and cut me down to TEN content pages and took away my coupon option!!!!! Now they are telling me to get unlimited amount of pages I have to pay 40 dollars extra every month. That's BS! I already bought a "package" with unlimited amount of pages!

Is there anyone out there who is aware of a class action suit against this company. I was looking for help, but most of the time the Reps were not adept @ explaining things & were impatient. It was a terrible & disappointing experience.

So far, I‘ve had no problems with Bright Builders. Yes I thought the price was exorbitant when we started with the company, but even though my husband and I had had a lot of computer experience, we knew “nada, nil” about composing a webpage. I knew a little HTML, but frankly, I didn’t like HTML and their Builder does it for you, thank God.

We had excellent response from their coaching staff and had a half hour session for 12 weeks with her. I have good response from the Live Chat group. The main problem we had was with the tax people that was recommended to us and we “fired” him. He didn’t consider that our time was important and would make an appt and then not call. We decided we would get our own tax person and not pay an arm and a leg for them.

We’ve had some orders, although not like we would like and at least we were able to take the money off from our taxes on the first year, which helped a lot considering we had had to pay every year since we retired. I was able to get my own drop shipper which we couldn’t be more pleased with.

We’ve had a lot of companies call us and ask if we need help in getting more hits to our website, etc., but I have told them that we paid a company for that and do not intend to pay another one at the moment.

One person mention “you need to have 5 LLC’s”. That was never mentioned to us. I will have to give Bright Builders at least 4-l/2 out of 5 stars, pending a call I have in to them at the moment.

Bright Builders has always been there for me and had it not been for them I would not have a website. Any time I have a problem I contact them by phone or by live chat and their service has been extremely helpful. When it comes to websites, I know nothing and they gave me the support I needed and still do.

Greetings To All,
I am so grateful to see that there are other people willing to stand up against these "Evil Doers" - Do you really believe any of the crap that this corrupt Internet system sells ? They are modern day robber barons and greedy manipulative bullies who probably go out after work for a few drinks bragging about how much money they had stolen from the unfortunate innocent people, trading high pressure tactics and all the while they are LAUGHING ABOUT IT !! I can practically guarantee it - I feel their mocking cocky attitudes. Who is policing the Internet ? I have had no support from any of my trusted institutions who right now are more than happy to give me more secured and unsecured credit cards, loans, grants to pay off the fraud charges which we all know is exactly the game they play ensuring my slavery for payments due and over due and credit and collections - Hey back in a day they used to haul people off to Debtors Prisons for non payment of funds. Three hots and a cot sounds pretty good to me - LOL ! We all own and use Credit thinking we are safe. This is where we are all united no matter who you are - You could be me. Now that's a sad thought. Destroyed in 4 Months. Just think about it for one minute: Late Fees, Really Small Print that nobody reads (don't even lie), Checks to be used at your discretion, Special Promotions, Increasing Credit Limit, Fluctuating APR etc...I will brook no refusal until I have my credit restored and reparations are made. I am angry as hell so I have done my own detective work as well. This is no joke, and EVERYONE WHO IS INVOLVED MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. What really ticks me off is their blatant disregard for the public in general. So I guess Mikey and his friends are taking their cue from them......Rape, Pillage, Plunder, Lie, Tear Anyone Asunder....WHY ? For the almighty Buck ! Wow, your folks must be so proud of your success.

I worked for this company and can recommend that you stay away from it. I was very unimpressed with the lack of professionalism and training of most of the employees. Most of the staff (including coaches) is high school-aged or at least very young and inexperienced. Seemed like a glorified call center. I was supporting a product I didn't believe in, but I did need to eat.

The comments about things being scripted and the vulnerable and unaware being the targets are true. From what I've heard, the prices are very, very high.

I know someone who is in consumer advocacy for the state of Utah and who, hearing I was working for Bright Builders, became quiet. I pressed them for an opinion, and I was told that only negative reports about BB had come to her office over several years. If you have a complaint about this company, go beyond the Better Business Bureau to consumer advocacy area of the Utah state government; this is really where consumers who've been wrongly treated can get some relief.

All in all, be your own advocate and teacher; if the idea of easily getting rich sounds too good to be true, well, it probably is. And it appears to be in this case.

Please don't fall for this scam!!! It looked so good on the infomercial, earn money at home on the internet! We should have gone with the first feeling that it wasn't for real. $6700 for the "training and unlimited phone support" yeah right! Then Strategic Financial company calls you NEED to have 5 LLC's in case you get sued. Fell for that too. $2000 more and they charged $60 a month and then were supposed to send all tax info to them so they could do taxes all with NO refund! I had a domain set up and it is already red flagged as not legitimate since I hadn't set it up. If you have no keywords, it can be red, then black flagged with no hope of even getting on the search engines and so NO $$. I have cut all ties with these scam people, and canceled my credit card so the jerks can't steal anymore money from me. A hard lesson, but I will never watch another infomercial again!

I am in agreement with all that has been said about the Bright Builder scam. I only wish that I have been taken for no more than $6000. I was truly led down the prim rose path, sweet talk like you wouldn't believe and it cost me $12,300, a sum I am still paying off. At the time of the commitment, I had the cash to pay for the program, however, the market has taken care of that so it is slugging away. They have improved the software and want me to pay a monthly fee for the privilege of using it. You have to be kidding.

They always say 'hindsight is better than forsight'. Unfortunately, I allowed myself to
be drawn straight into this program for $4260.
None of the lessons were showing up on my com-
puter each week, so it finally dawned on me,
THIS IS A GIANT SCAM & SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!
I reported them to the BBB in Utah & they
worked on it for a few months to no avail.
They really regretted not being able to help
me, but it's listed as 'being unresolved' and
hopefully this will serve as a warning to others.
I've always been so careful with money all my
life & it's hard to believe I got sucked into
this. My husband & I are elderly & this a real
blow to our finances. Now, Bright Builders are
trying to bill me $39.95 monthly for hosting a
'non-existing' website. WHATEVER YOU DO, avoid
this company like the plague!!!!!!!

Don't do it!!!!!! I signed on and got nothing. They wanted me to use a wholesale company, that I am sure is a part of their company, to get my products from. The so called wholesale price of the products was, in some cases, more than retail in stores. The guy that gave me my "selling lessons" via telephone was a jerk. He got testy if I asked any questions and you could tell it was a scripted lesson and asking him questions threw him off from the script. It was a dreadful experience and they got me for $6,000.00 I am sorry to say. Don't do it. I really believe it is a scam!!!

Jo Mullen   Chicago, Illinois

I was sold something via the telephone. The statements were extremely supportive. I had no product, I had no experience with eBay and little computer experience outside the realm of letters and email. "No problem", I was told. We will help you find products to sell and teach you how to do it. Then I was contacted by different companies: Bright Builders, Deep Blue Sea, Platinum Web whom I'd never before heard of. Mine was a verbal commitment over the phone to a program that I thought would be good for me & I would have done---a teaching program. I signed nothing. When I rec'd the actual program, I immediately realized it was not what I was looking for and have tried to extract myself from it---since May of 2008. As a senior citizen on a fixed income, I was looking to supplement my income & help my children. I was charged $6128.78 for a website on which I have NOTHING to sell. Now they want to charge me $30 a month to maintain the useless site. My credit card company has tried to deal with them to no avail. I will sue before I pay for a useless bridge to no where.

Marie Butler   Texas

This is a scam. One of the most costly scams around, I might add. The best thing they have going for them is their sales reps who are the most ruthless sweet-talking vermin you will run across. Their target audience are the elderly or the most vulnerable of all. The promises they make during the sales pitch are all lies. Your mentor is not going to guide you or teach you. Just send you a weekly homework assignment. And dare not ask a question outside their outlined process because you'll get shot down. The programs they call state of the art and designed to put you and your company in the forefront of the eBay sellers - garbage. Their programs are worthless and if you really wanted a program to compare pricing, or find sellers on eBay - well, it's free online at eBay. The only thing Bright Builders has going for it - soul-less salespeople. Don't buy into it! You'll really regret it later...

Jim Rodd   San Diego

These guys pull you into their scam, and make some inferior attempt to teach you how to sell on the internet

It is probably the worst example of teaching someone how to perform a task of selling on E-bay that I ever experienced.

Then trying to get ahold of them on the internet or telephone is next to immpossible. You leave a E-mail message and chances are they will answer it in a week or if ever. There is no way their services are worth 11,850.

They had me apply for what they called a Credit card "Matrix Plus" and on 06/03/08 they charged me
11,850.00 on the card. Mind you I did not approve this, I did not even no of it until the next month on my June Statement.
